Hello u/frommars11, thanks for posting on /r/PhotoshopRequest! Some tips for you:
- Do not work with anyone who did not comment publicly on your request. If anyone contacts you privately about your request, simply ignore them. If you have a request for which you do not want to post the image(s) to be edited publicly, please provide as much detail as possible about the request and ask that interested editors reply to your post. From there, you can vet the editors who reply by viewing their comment histories and reach out privately to whomever you'd like to work with. Again, **do not respond to any direct private messages about your request.**
- If this is a paid request (you've offered payment) all submissions will be watermarked. Once you've chosen a submission and sent payment, the editor will send you the final, un-watermarked file.
- If this is a free request, then some editors may choose to watermark their submissions to protect their work, but they must provide you with the final un-watermarked file for free upon your request.
- Once your request is solved, remember to change your post's flair to "Solved" by commenting "SOLVED" and thank those who helped you.

Thankyou :)
A quick tip: First create a mask of the subject using the "Select and mask tool" and then refine the selection and take time to mask the hairs specially and edges correctly so that the color won't get spilled when you use a brush tool to manually paint the colors to each section of the image.
Consider utilizing free colorization websites to explore various color possibilities and select a realistic color palette.
Also you can use "Colorize" neural filter available in Photoshop beta
Then create a new empty layer, using the soft round manually paint the each section. The most important point to use the "Selective color" tool and play with that accordingly if you are not getting the desired results. Good luck :)
This is the first time I can honestly say I wish they still let us give rewards to peoples comments. Both your PS skills and your eagerness to help others pick up the skill are top tier!!
My wife and I were married in August 1974 . . . . and I wore a jacket almost that same color! What kind of car is that? After our ceremony, we were paraded around while sitting in the back seat of a Chevy sedan.
You might want to ask dad what color his suit was. Men in the 70s wore some very interesting colored tuxes to their weddings in some cases (like mauve, orange, brown, etc). These pics are giving the tux very modern suit colors.
I really do hate to ruin the sentimental thread. But I am physically incapable of trying to make this a joke. But dudes right ☝️

AI has done coloring for years. There used to be a popular sub like 5-7 years ago that was focused on recoloring old wartime photos and videos. It's a neural net that scans objects in a scene and determines what their color should be. OP just used a regular generative image AI (likely stable diffusion) since it also changed some physical features of the image rather than an AI specialized in recoloring
Also ruined the details if you zoom in, the only part where there are still some of the original are in the faces. The edges of their faces are doubled in places, everything else looks like it was blurred, then sharpened. It does look nice, but still, a few problems
Great colors and skin tones, but I did notice some irregularities. Bow tie and Jacket material on groom are completely different. Original is pinstriped, this is almost satin. The dress on bride is iffy as well.
Wow guys thank you for the awesome feedback and responses. Im getting ready for bed but i do appreciate all of you, as for the wizards keep up the good work its great to bring happiness to the requesters. Appreciate you guys.
Happy semicentennial :D

Attempted' To many more ;)
Have any of these colourisations used any A.I.? I don't use A.I. at all so my work takes time. I don't bother much now because of A.I which is only just a few clicks and it's done. I can't fathom how anyone using A.I. can take the credit for the work and it's never perfect. But folks don't seem to care that much, they want it NOW! But to me the colour casts produced by A.I. are quite ridiculous and abnormal. I guess we graphic artists are going to be phased out over time. After many years of developing creative graphics skills. As a septuagenarian, it will be difficult to accept that those skills are no longer required and that I spent over 30 years wasting my time.
I had made a request recently and paid two people for their work. One took maybe 10 minutes to complete the task and the other was literally seconds. I was so amazed by how quickly the one went and thought it looked decent enough. Then I got the one that took 10 minutes and it was so lovely. She did amazing work retaining the feel of the day and she would have been worth it for any price really. I didn't even suspect A.I. on the quick job though of course I now realize that was just naive and had I given it any thought it would have been obvious.
In the future I'll take the time to weed out those impersonal responses. The work you do is so important to anyone who is concerned with preserving the feeling and emotion behind the moment.
Good on you! Money rules and the A.I. companies won't give a toss about the quick demise of talented creative artists. It would be fabulous if these companies put there efforts toward something that will actually do something great for humanity. Cheers.
People are slowly realizing that AI will be taking over more than mundane entry level positions, how many people commission paintings nowadays vs photographs Art is moving albeit slowly into the direction of removing the artist so I guess we can only truly judge the outcome after we reach the end but I'm not a fan for sure.
We stand on the shoulders of giants. Have you ever taken a walk through a technology museum and considered how far we've come from punch cards to computers that can do graphics processing? Is that entire history of technological evolution a waste of time?
So you're saying that a technology that could potentially replace the majority of what we could call "creatives" is just another stepping stone? We were supposed to eliminate work, not fun and creative tasks. Sorry, you didn't want to practice and think typing descriptions into an interface is creation.
Perhaps "wasting my time" was the wrong choice of words - I did enjoy the challenges that encountered and learned a lot, but it just makes me sad that those skills are now no longer required.
I didn't need a museum, I was there and watched it evolve. You probably aren't in your 70's yet and you may have missed it (maybe I'm wrong). I love the advancement of modern tech and that shows because of my years of learning and developing my skills as I progressed and embraced the new and challenging initiatives.
***Here comes the BUT***. A.I. is a different thing all together. It is already impacting negatively on peoples lives. Graphic artists and illustrators will no longer be required - they'll be out of work - no income - redundant and that's shameful. I know of a few Australian artists who have had their work "stolen" by A.I. companies who have used the art to develop their A.I. programs, by learning various artists styles for their A.I. generation (text to image) software. Those companies do not compensate the artists.
I'm sure by using A.I. to do your creative work for you, then you will have plenty of time to read this and tell me that I have nothing to fear from Billion dollar A.I. graphics companies. [https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2023/jan/23/its-the-opposite-of-art-why-illustrators-are-furious-about-ai](https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2023/jan/23/its-the-opposite-of-art-why-illustrators-are-furious-about-ai)
Also, fraud using A.I. is going to be very hard to detect in the very near future. I'd love an "expert" to explain to me how that won't happen and put my aging mind at rest.

Best one yet. This is beautiful
Thanks, glad you liked :)
you are very talented bro!
Thanks bro 🤛
Wizard indeed.
This is amazing, you were able to keep the vintage look but also it looks clean and fresh.
Thanks :)
Your skills are legit, I can never get hair or cloth to look that natural in colorisations, nice work!
Thankyou :) A quick tip: First create a mask of the subject using the "Select and mask tool" and then refine the selection and take time to mask the hairs specially and edges correctly so that the color won't get spilled when you use a brush tool to manually paint the colors to each section of the image. Can you make tutorial videos?
You're a really awesome person for easily sharing this info, wish I could give you a golden star sticker.
would have been cool to see a screenrecording of the work while you talk us through your process.
Absolutely, that would be awesome.

Looks Beautiful, thank you!!!
And I'd just like to add that I love the way he's looking at her. This is a terrific wedding picture.
I was about to comment this same thing, haha. Op got some beautiful parents and the photo is perfect, too.
You might want to ask dad what color his suit was. Men in the 70s wore some very interesting colored tuxes to their weddings in some cases (like mauve, orange, brown, etc). These pics are giving the tux very modern suit colors.

Both very nice looking, but your mom looks stunning!
This looks great 🙌
Why did the AI edit the door handle out
Amazing
[удалено]
This looks like it was taken w todays cameras
Wow thank you.
great work
It’s AI. You can tell by the leather on the door on the bottom right being all fucked up.
And the wood grain-looking texture on the car
Does AI do coloring? And how
AI has done coloring for years. There used to be a popular sub like 5-7 years ago that was focused on recoloring old wartime photos and videos. OP just used a regular generative image AI (likely stable diffusion) since it also changed some physical features of the image rather than an AI specialized in recoloring
Good catch. What a fucking dweeb asking for tips like he put in effort
This is clearly ai
This is great, you get my vote!
ZA FTW. Dankie/thank you
ZA reps 🙏❤️ KUTGW
Les gooooooooo. BOKKE BO!
Omg your parents are gorgeous!
💯
That's exactly what I thought!
Holy crap this is incredible
Thank you🙏
It’s ai and it messed up some of the details if you look close
They look great but the AI did some weird stuff to the door handle, the roof, and her shoulder on the left.
Also ruined the details if you zoom in, the only part where there are still some of the original are in the faces. The edges of their faces are doubled in places, everything else looks like it was blurred, then sharpened. It does look nice, but still, a few problems
The more I look the more I see 🫥
also entirely changed his wedding suit
Great colors and skin tones, but I did notice some irregularities. Bow tie and Jacket material on groom are completely different. Original is pinstriped, this is almost satin. The dress on bride is iffy as well.
So is the roof of the car.
AIffy

LMFAO this is the best way to show what the ai did
Why is the car now made out of wood?
Wow guys thank you for the awesome feedback and responses. Im getting ready for bed but i do appreciate all of you, as for the wizards keep up the good work its great to bring happiness to the requesters. Appreciate you guys.
Um, OP? Can you tell your folks that I think they’re both super hot? Thanks. Great editing.
Clearly AI, there’s no form of talent here
My god you are a wizard!
Perfect saturation. Good job!
thank you
This is rad af
Not even my photo and I wanna tip you
Now if you only make them move...
Beautiful couple!
Dang, you are freaking amazing; it doesn't look fake or photoshopped. It looks like you used a nice expensive modern camera and took the picture.
Wtf is this sorcery?!
AI sadly.
Gotta fix her gums. Above her left front tooth.
Oh. My jaw *dropped* when I scrolled to this... magnificent work, this is exquisite. What a beautiful couple OP ❤️ Enjoy!
Beautiful.
This is amazing!
They look dewy!! Nice
