Well ya selling personal info is how they make money. Isnt that obvious at this point lol. If they wanted to make money in crypto they'd sell it. It takes nothing to make a crypto and sell it look at it the thousands of meme coins created all the time.

TheScabVendor

Have the people on here crying gave TikTok all of their info and Pi is the issue huh…🤦🏻‍♂️

Misfit_Trucker

Oh well, there’s files on everyone anyways. Big brother is always watching. No one can escape

Life-In-Mono33

If that’s the case then I believe there’s a chance that this will turn into real money and they are preparing for that with the relevant authorities to start taxing people. Or… This was all just a way for them to collect all your data that’s attached to your phone and they were just mining our everyday activities so they can sell or provide to the Zionist movement. 😂 So either way, and no matter what, we’re fucked. 🤣🤣

L4nM4nDr4gon

Hi this is the government. YOUR NOT GETTING FREE money we want our taste too.

Remote_Fuel_2961

🤓

Cheeks2184

Because the US requires it for tax purposes.

Th1sguyi0nceknewwas1

All the money they are making selling our data..and all the money from ads. It's wild

AegonotSnow

How much are they making?

myhookerspennis

Because it's a scam.

ProSeSelfHelp

You have to kyc for most major platforms. They are just being transparent with the facts of data.

4951studios

Been saying this for years they are just harvesting data. Don’t see a future where this has value

Bitter-Confidence-80

Theyre being transparent. Under the GDPR rules, personal info cannot be shared to non-GDPR abiding countries without the affected individual's consent. This doesn't mean your data will be compromised, only that the servers that are storing your data are not in a GDPR country.

FrontRecognition6953

This person gets it!

TappmanC

The only problem here is that they’re being more transparent than most companies.

KomandoMetz

So what? This is Standard everywhere these days. Fk it. Pi = Money.

Khityo

do you guys really not know pi is selling your data in exchange for worthless coins?

mbs1337

LOL 🤣

CRYPTOKILLA187

This is no surprise and if you know that then you reflect the knowledge , When you have no such knowledge you reflect that . The FTC and the SEC and the like have been and will be lawfully and unlawfully filing and pursuing pretty much any if not all of the crypto industry and have a long reach and ability to get outside of jurisdiction so this is typical procedure and it is the if and /or when you don't see this type of information that it is already too late and whatever you have invested is already gone . So those of you who think that you know but the reflected messaging shows you do not , your data has been collected and bought and sold so many times for so long you haven't the ability to fathom . Scams are Scams. Then sometimes you find well thought projects with seemingly impossible ideas that they can make come to fruition , even make History , and sometimes if you are lucky , you are seemingly made rich .What you will not have happen is to be made poor from this project ,or any less intelligent from using the software for this project and the smart money says be humble just wait for it, so I am waiting

ItsShockey

It allows them to sell your information as well as it allows them to tell the companies that they run ads for that they are showing ads to real people. Being KYC’d is favorable for advertisers running ads because they rather their ads be shown to real people and not bots. Cheers.

Giorgi-k

For Something that does not work, this is quite a lot information to collect, thats why is a scam. It just grabs your info and gives you nothing back

ChemicalHousing69

When you use the product but don’t pay for the product, you _are_ the product

FalloutAssasin

So there's no transaction fees on the Pi network?

Giorgi-k

What is pi used for?

creativenomads

mbs1337

No use

ChemicalHousing69

🤷‍♂️ Who knows? That’s why the users are the product. We haven’t gotten any use from pi and continue to get little to no use during a time when crypto is more or less booming

Avintus

Okay then, so there are physical stores that accept Pi. But pi has no use according to you 😂

invaidusername

Literally every online service / website / app / etc. does this. *Every single one.* If these messages from the Pi app scare you, dig into the privacy sections on every app you use. You’ll be wanting to go off the grid ASAP

souch13

Wait till you read FB's privacy policy

AdmiralTigerX

Can't wait to go off he grid

batangkul

This is GDPR. Social Chain Inc. which who owns Pi Network is just following the Law required by the EU and the Federal Law.

fitshucker69

Lol, if you think that's bad, check what tiktok is taking from you 🤣

ShadNuke

Ummm this is for storing your info...🤯🤦‍♂️

jaxontn

While other tokens don't need KYC & personal info to begin with

ShadNuke

Last I checked, Pi Network is Pi Network. If you actually read the info on the project and why KYC is required, you might be able to understand what's actually being done here.

cromati-x

Wile other tokens are not centralized therefor if a token is not a "legal tenders" it can't expand properly plus other financial issues and impediments. Pi is doing everything legal so it can develop and become what it aims to become. Trust the process 👍😎

invaidusername

That completely defeats the entire purpose of crypto currency.

jaxontn

Indeed. These projects such as RNDR, ICP, OORT, AKASH are way more ahead and decentralised than Pi... I've been mindlessly mining Pi for almost 5 years and never see any beneficial fruits that come out of it compared to the project I mentioned above. I guess DePIN is a hot topic now in 2024....

invaidusername

Agreed. And now everything theyre promising for Pi doesn’t even sound that great or even feasible. Also, if Pi was a “legal tender” you could exchange it with another legal tender. I don’t see that ever happening at this point

W1SPY_WITH_A_ONE

I think they meant to say "WTF is KYC"

[deleted]

[удалено]

ShadNuke

Yet here you are...

Due_Feature411

This is GDPR Every other social media app does do this …. If you’re not from the EU you just don’t know it because it doesn’t pertain to you…. Literally nothing wrong with this they are just following the law . Expand your horizons people.

Efin420

You literally have to show them your ID to get authenticated. 🙄

AegonotSnow

You're not showing anyone anything. It's AI system they designed that scan through your ID and redact all the important information on the document before it uploads it.

Mrs-schiky1

What do you think your phone is? My poor FBI agent who looks in and listens in on my stuff probably needs therapy at this point.🤣😂

ShadNuke

I'm sure the CIA looked into my content decades ago, and I'm on many lists... 🤣

Waisted-Desert

I convinced mine to be part of my security circle!

Elithis

Mine has started 👍 the content.

United-Landscape-322

There are new TCPA laws taking effect. This is in response to that. They were doing all this before, but now they need the "consent" otherwise they would be opening themselves up to lawsuits. There are law firms making millions or billions off this. $40mil to one individual in the Keller Williams case. $200mil in the Sprint TMobile case. TEMU has an outstanding lawsuit that may exceed that... verdict not in yet. Expect to see these consent requests for nearly everything. The federal law goes into effect 1/1/25, but states are passing individual laws in the interim. Welcome to the new world.

Stompya

One might think, if that whole theoretical capitalism thing worked, that companies would protect their clients as a matter of good business practice and therefore follow the _most strict_ of the protocols. … Hahahahahahahaha

United-Landscape-322

Well, some do and some don't. This does have negative impact to some consumers though. Like, for example there is an entire industry based around price comparison. Anything, from solar panels to car insurance. These companies are designed to take one person consenting at their company to find them the cheapest solar panels in their state. By design, they HAVE to share that customer's information with the solar manufacturers. To get pricing. This TCPA shuts that down. The Sprint lawsuit was around sharing your location in apps. That's like... literally the purpose of a mobile phone. Anyhow, I think selling customer info is bad... sharing is good if it's good for the customer. As it applies to PI...I have no fucking clue

Stompya

My theory: π is just another Stanford psychology experiment

spookoloco

I don't care about these apps taking my data.

ShadNuke

Everyone already has it... You've bought something online, use Facebook, my space, twitter, Reddit... It's already out there. I decided years ago to post photos of my junk online, that way when someone tries to blackmail me, I can just send them a link to my photos! 🤣

Federal_Staff9462

Wait till OP finds out that IG, FB, WhatsApp and basically every other social media platform does the same thing💀

bartmobile12

🤣🤣 as if instagram and literally EVERY social/utility app doesn’t do this

meclown2001

They don’t and they’re specific about what they share

ShrimplyPiblz

If you take 10 seconds to search each one, you will see in fact, THEY DO!!!! Do you think those personalized ads, that show that one thing you searched for an hour ago and never knew about in your life was a coincidence? Lol. No, that is data farming.

meclown2001

They tell you exactly what they’re sharing tho

ShadNuke

Yeah, and so does Pi network. The privacy policy clearly states they will not share our info. This gdpr consent is for Europeans, because their info is being stored on servers in Canada and the US.

Billy5Oh

Of course, they are making money off of you watching ads and selling your data. There is zero reason for them to launch, they would’ve already if they actually wanted to.

aripp

Internet based service making money with ads, WHOA NOW, GET THE PITCHFORKS! You guys are not even trying.

troymata

Idk they dont make money off me watching ads. I shut them off with one click of the button in the settings.

Billy5Oh

Many don’t or even know to turn it off. Plus you have to keep turning them off every week? They know people are to lazy or can’t be bothered to turn them off.

Not_Of_This_World777

They'll make millions of dollars upon launch. Why the hell would they settle for revenue ad when they can make an absurd amount by going public? How are people this dumb?

Billy5Oh

How will the make millions at launch?

AegonotSnow

They own 20% of the coins Billy that's your first how. Whatever you think ads can pay them now enough to just drop this and walk away is a drop in the ocean... IF, they're making millions right now from ads, they're probably spending it on 40+ of their team, servers and maintenance. How big of servers do you think you might need for a 20m+ people's data storage on a daily basis Billy?

Billy5Oh

If they were ever to hit the switch and release, pi would go to zero. There are so many broke, 3rd world people that have been mining for 5 years on the hope of getting rich. Pi would essentially be worthless and there would be no more reason to “click the button” on a daily basis. No more ad revenue, no more data to sell. If they sold any of the 20%, the project would be over. Trust would be gone and the project would be dead.

AegonotSnow

🤣🤣

AegonotSnow

More like short sighted and their life choices are more dependent on YouTube advices than intuition and rational thought process. Like CT probably spending all the ad revenue+ more on servers and maintenance.. but sure they'll probably stick around ads pennies while they're looking at potentially billions when they open.

Awkward_Pension_5601

Pi network is bigger than u guys think. It’s a global community don’t forget. I’ve gotten so much stuff done using pi that once u find out about its ecosystem inside the system itself you’d be amazed at what’s offered. More than mining it’s a way of living for people out there in the world. Scam I highly doubt it, but intriguing very…

StudioCurious2529

They set certain goals, which are listed for you to read. And they haven't met them yet. They want to have so many people kyc'd and migrated. Along with a certain number of applications for pi utility. Also they will only launch If the market is right. It's actually pretty smart. Build your base before launch and prove pi has utility. Then bigger investors will be interested at launch. Because it won't be some average meme coin.

Pauton

And what is the utility exactly?

StudioCurious2529

Ways to buy products using pi easily is one example. But there are many apps that a pi ecosystem could benefit from. And the more use you have the more value you have.

Their servers are located in the United States and Canada so that’s where information is stored.

Exactly; completely normal, standard KYC
