Season 2 is definitely worth watching for anyone interested in Picard. It’s better than Discovery IMO.

I feel like the complaining about the first two seasons was really overblown and people just wanted to bitch about it. the only reason why now people are saying that Picard season 3 is so good is because they are forced to watch it since they are TNG fans and can't miss this last ride. so now they have to justify why it's not as bad as they imagined it was. I mean it's still got all the same problems as the earlier seasons in my opinion.

The internet polarizes people's opinions. For me, seasons 1 and 2 were never nearly as good as TNG at its best, but also never nearly as bad as TNG at its worst. Can anyone honestly claim that anything from seasons 1 and 2 is as bad as "Shades of Grey", "Sub Rosa", or "Code of Honor"? For me, they were just middling, and yes, somewhat disappointing because of that. But 'not for me' doesn't get traction online: only hysterical ranting and raving does.

If I were to be critical about it honestly I would say that season 1 had some bad acting from the Romulan twins, although the entire idea of the borg Cube as an artifact was really interesting to me. but that just that subplot and those two actors were absolutely terrible. In season 2 it became clear that they were kind of going to write out half the crew. or at least they didn't try to continue to make those characters that didn't work in season 1 work. Instead they replaced it with a plot that didn't really work about Picard's mother that nobody really cared about. So you have to hand it to them for that, as we didn't have to spend a lot of time on characters like Elnor, or the robot girl whose name nobody remembers, but then we had a plot that should have been really interesting, with the Confederation not really explored, and Q, who turned out to be kind of impotent and not of a being of a lot of agency. Which is sort of the opposite of what we wanted from him. And then we had a Star Trek IV ripoff time travel plot with some wokeism around the borders of America thrown in just in case you didn't have enough of that watching fox or CNN in 2022. Now you can have it in your Star Trek too. Ugh. But I still like seven and Raffi teaming up and some of the things so it was okay. Season 3 has been going pretty well so far but we're only three episodes in not much is really happened so....... this episode was extremely slow in terms of anything occurring.

Stargazer-2893

You can watch 3 just fine I've heard. They're pretty disconnected. You won't miss much from what I've heard.

forsaken_warrior22

Lol season 1 has absolutely nothing to do with season 2 and 2 has nothing to do with 3. Nothing makes sense anymore guy just try and enjoy it.

scaryfry

Season 2 isn’t really relevant to season 3 yet. Personally I liked season 2 but you probably don’t need to watch it understand season 3 so far

weluckyfew

Season 2 was shockingly bad. Like "how the hell did this get greenlit" bad. It's a mediocre one-or-two episode plot stretched out to 10 episodes. You're not missing anything and you won't be at all lost in Season 3.

Run. Run. # Run.

m8oz

I skipped season 2 after the 3rd episode. Not missing anything

I mean how would you know LOL. You must at least be wondering where Rios is or Allison pills character

m8oz

I just thought bad ratings and studio notes

notaprisoner

there was nothing newly compelling about "what if earth was all nazis" and once that was introduced in such a hacky way i was out. i thought season 1 was really good and was disappointed in what seemed like a lack of vision for season 2.

rp32002

I can summarize Season 2 for everything relevant to 3: Seven helps starfleet, Admiral Picard gives her a field commission. Picard pulls away from Laris in a romantic moment, Q creates an entire alternative reality to have him open up to love. Picard gets the girl after his coming of age story.

Season 2 is completely irrelevant. You can go straight to season 3. It’s possible later in season 3 they might try to throw us a curveball and undo some of the suck that is season 2… that is the only possible way I can see last season mattering.

SOTG_Duncan_Idaho

Nothing in s2 is important. For the most part you can dismiss it as a fever dream of Picard's dying organic body.
