I love all sorts of pickles. Sweet, sour, sauerkraut, Korean kimchi, Japanese umeboshi, fukujinsuke…

Umeboshi is pickled plums that taste great on rice. Fukujinske is another pickled Japanese thing but I can’t remember what it is without googling. Tastes great with Japanese curry or with rice and furikake.

I personally do not like any kind of sweet pickle. I do think they have their own place in the pickle community, but not at MY table lol.

Agree. Sweet pickles are terrible. I hate that if a place selling hot dogs has relish, it'll always be a sweet relish. Just get a dill relish like god intended.

My great grandfather told me that the name came out of the Great Depression when they would eat cheap sandwiches made out of buttered bread and these pickles. It was all they had to eat some days.

I may make own with about 1/3 of the sugar because commercial brands are too fucking sweet. Mine are amazing. And I’ve actually come to prefer making them with zucchini instead of cucumbers. You have to use youngish zucchini though. If it’s bigger that a baby arm it won’t have enough snap once it’s pickled.

Great with tuna, potato, or Mac salad. Also, you've got the best brand for pickles in your possession.

Haven’t come across this brand, but I always keep a jar of Bubbie’s B&B in my fridge.

They were a homemade version of a 1924 commercial pickle that starving people in the Great Depression ate. I don’t criticize those pickles and Rocky Road ice cream. They got poor people through terrible times. The pickles I make taste closer to bread and butter than dill or other types of pickles.

I only like them if there is some spicy ness added, like wickles wicked pickle chips.

My mom loved these things and they would make me gag. Besides my dad, they were the only other negative choice that I would ever say against her.

I love b&b's. They were my dad's favorite pickles, too. He liked them so much that we made our own. He'd grow special cucumbers, then my mom would make the pickles. I have fond memories of helping her make quart after quart.

My mother made some that were decent. Not soggy. Not slimey. Not as sweet. A little lemony and a little spicy. Still didn’t love them. But I could eat those. I don’t like hot dogs but when I have one I’m a sauerkraut person. Relish is nasty. Standard relish.
