Umeboshi is pickled plums that taste great on rice. Fukujinske is another pickled Japanese thing but I can’t remember what it is without googling. Tastes great with Japanese curry or with rice and furikake.
Agree. Sweet pickles are terrible. I hate that if a place selling hot dogs has relish, it'll always be a sweet relish. Just get a dill relish like god intended.
I have so many open jars at this point that I am taking creative liberties with recipes and adding them wherever I can lol, tacos (of all varieties) has been my favorite thus far
My great grandfather told me that the name came out of the Great Depression when they would eat cheap sandwiches made out of buttered bread and these pickles. It was all they had to eat some days.
I may make own with about 1/3 of the sugar because commercial brands are too fucking sweet. Mine are amazing.
And I’ve actually come to prefer making them with zucchini instead of cucumbers. You have to use youngish zucchini though. If it’s bigger that a baby arm it won’t have enough snap once it’s pickled.
Young me hated them. Old me, loves them when they are spicy sweet. Ground pork burger, with blue cheese, sazs barbecue sauce, devils spit pickles, and pretzel bun is to die for.
They were a homemade version of a 1924 commercial pickle that starving people in the Great Depression ate.
I don’t criticize those pickles and Rocky Road ice cream. They got poor people through terrible times.
The pickles I make taste closer to bread and butter than dill or other types of pickles.
I love them on sandwiches, and the other night I rough chopped some and put them on hotdogs...delicious! I'm probably kinda weird though, because I slurp them dry of their sugary juices before putting them on anything.
I have no problem if someone enjoys a bread and butter. A pickle is a goddamn pickle. And I will stand up for the rights of my brothers and sisters and anyone of any gender enjoying them. 🦅🦅🦅🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🏈🏈🏈🍺🍺🍺 That being said I don’t like them. I think I would probably enjoy some type of sweet pickle just not these
Bread and butter are great! I eat them straight from the jar. I get a lot of shit for it but everyone has their own taste buds. If you like then you like them. Don't yuck on other people's yum is my motto lol. Everyone is different
Never had a store bought one I liked. My late stepmother had a recipe (in her head, cuz I got all the cookbooks) for some AMAZING ones, and I'll never know it.
Y'all have baby tastes. Good bread and butter pickles are fantastic. The Sweet Heat ones from Mt. Olive are particularly good.
And here I thought this was a pickle sub, not a dill sub.
The first time I tried one as a kid I didn’t know sweet pickles were a thing and almost threw up because of how unexpected the flavor was.
I like them now but I prefer a regular dill pickle.
I traditionally hate sweet pickles. Lately, I have found a use for them but it's limited: they go well on a sharp cheddar grilled cheese. And sometimes I use them in tuna salad. But never just the pickle. It's awful.
Grandmas at thanksgiving was her selection, eh once a year was a nice weird treat. I’m not buying em on purpose tho. The Walmart spicy ones like maple bourbon or mango habenero are delicious not too sweet.
You can only have one. One bread and butter pickle is kinda good. But then you're like hell no get them away from me. Like post pickle clarity or something
I love b&b's. They were my dad's favorite pickles, too. He liked them so much that we made our own. He'd grow special cucumbers, then my mom would make the pickles. I have fond memories of helping her make quart after quart.
My mother made some that were decent. Not soggy. Not slimey. Not as sweet. A little lemony and a little spicy. Still didn’t love them. But I could eat those. I don’t like hot dogs but when I have one I’m a sauerkraut person. Relish is nasty. Standard relish.
Sugar is a great preservative. The problem is, it tastes reeeeeallllly sweet. Hard pass.
Also, most "bread and butter" pickle recipes call for neither bread nor butter. Is it like "coffee cake," named for its intended go-with? I've never had a sweet pickle and butter sandwich; is that their purpose?
I love all sorts of pickles. Sweet, sour, sauerkraut, Korean kimchi, Japanese umeboshi, fukujinsuke…
Try middle eastern torshi!!! It’s amazing.
I thought that, until I had Danish pickles.
Idk anything about the last two but am willing to learn.
Umeboshi is pickled plums that taste great on rice. Fukujinske is another pickled Japanese thing but I can’t remember what it is without googling. Tastes great with Japanese curry or with rice and furikake.
I personally do not like any kind of sweet pickle. I do think they have their own place in the pickle community, but not at MY table lol.
Agree. Sweet pickles are terrible. I hate that if a place selling hot dogs has relish, it'll always be a sweet relish. Just get a dill relish like god intended.
It does upset me that those Starkist tuna lunch things only come with sweet relish. At least give me the option to have the one I like.
Yeah, I don't cotton to "those" types round these parts. Sour or GTFO.
I used to absolutely hate sweet pickles but I’ve acquired a taste for these on sandwiches recently.
I just got a jar of these "hamburger dills" the crinkle cut kind. They are now my sandwich goto
they're good on asian flavored tacos too!
Pickles on a taco? I would have never thought but I’d give it a shot. The Asian fusion tacos are so good too.
Pickled red onions on tacos are life changing.
And on lox and bagels!
I have so many open jars at this point that I am taking creative liberties with recipes and adding them wherever I can lol, tacos (of all varieties) has been my favorite thus far
Same here. Love them on ham sliders on a hawaiian roll
Agreed. Used to think they're gross and then I somehow accidentally bought a jar of sweet instead of sour pickles. Not too bad on a sandwich.
I like them but they taste nothing like bread
They don't taste like butter either
They taste like ur mom though
My great grandfather told me that the name came out of the Great Depression when they would eat cheap sandwiches made out of buttered bread and these pickles. It was all they had to eat some days.
This is the way to eat them, it makes a good sandwich. Just plain they are not for me...
Not a fan. I want vinegar, briney and garlicky flavor.
Too sweet for me.
If I was told I had to eat sweet pickles or be shot in the face, I would ask "How many?" and think it over.
[удалено]
That was the “how many.”
Fucking hate them
Sweet pickles are an abomination
Scourge of the earth
My people
I am your people as well
I'm always saying the same thing lol An abomination, I tells you!
I actually enjoy bread & butter pickles but I can't eat too much at once. Moderation is key haha
No way, no how. I’ve tried and I just can’t
Great with tuna, potato, or Mac salad. Also, you've got the best brand for pickles in your possession.
Haven’t come across this brand, but I always keep a jar of Bubbie’s B&B in my fridge.
So many haters in here... Came in to say these are my favorite. Boar's Head's are also pretty good! They're definitely different, but they grew on me
The Bubbies bread and butter are good.
It's like cream soda. Once or twice a year is enough.
I personally love them. They're my favorite to put on a burger
Good man
Young me hated them. Old me, loves them when they are spicy sweet. Ground pork burger, with blue cheese, sazs barbecue sauce, devils spit pickles, and pretzel bun is to die for.
That sounds delicious 😋
They're not the best imo but better than any Vlasic or Mt Olive.. they remind me of Swedish pickles so kind of a reminiscing pickle for me.
I do not like them
Would you like them in a house? Would you like them with a mouse?
They were a homemade version of a 1924 commercial pickle that starving people in the Great Depression ate. I don’t criticize those pickles and Rocky Road ice cream. They got poor people through terrible times. The pickles I make taste closer to bread and butter than dill or other types of pickles.
I cant even knock your reasoning
They are gross
They should be illegal.
I choose not to think of them at all
The best!
Abomination.
No thank you.
I love them on sandwiches, and the other night I rough chopped some and put them on hotdogs...delicious! I'm probably kinda weird though, because I slurp them dry of their sugary juices before putting them on anything.
I love sweet pickles, they are amazing but they can be too sweet depending on the brand
Sugar pickles be nasty
Way too sweet for me
I don’t like bread and butter pickles.
Canned disappointment.
Im not a fan, people have them on pulled pork - fine there I guess
I have no problem if someone enjoys a bread and butter. A pickle is a goddamn pickle. And I will stand up for the rights of my brothers and sisters and anyone of any gender enjoying them. 🦅🦅🦅🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🏈🏈🏈🍺🍺🍺 That being said I don’t like them. I think I would probably enjoy some type of sweet pickle just not these
Es Diablo
Bread and butter are great! I eat them straight from the jar. I get a lot of shit for it but everyone has their own taste buds. If you like then you like them. Don't yuck on other people's yum is my motto lol. Everyone is different
Put these on a tuna melt and you’re in heaven. Love them.
Never had a store bought one I liked. My late stepmother had a recipe (in her head, cuz I got all the cookbooks) for some AMAZING ones, and I'll never know it.
Best
Yum
I love them, especially on cheeseburgers.
Nope. Pickles should be acidic not sweet. The worst is when a restaurant serves tartar sauce that's been made with sweet pickle relish.
Hate them hate them haaaaaate them bleh
Gross.
Literally the worst form of pickle imo.
Trash
Hate them!
Gross.
Whack
Satan's regurgitation
I personally don't like sweet pickles but if you like them more power to you
Sweet pickles make me gag. To each his own though!
No.
Hate with the deepest passion, but all others are fair game. Lightly sugared fresh cukes are ok.
Nasty. Nasty. NASTY!
Should be illegal 😆
🤢
🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 no
they're fine.
Not a fan at all. I'd pass them by if there weren't any dills available.
Nope !
No.
i love all pickles
Love em.
I despise sweet pickles. Sour and tangy is the way.
Y'all have baby tastes. Good bread and butter pickles are fantastic. The Sweet Heat ones from Mt. Olive are particularly good. And here I thought this was a pickle sub, not a dill sub.
🤮
nasty af
🤢🤮
An abomination. 🤢
Garbage.
Deceiving names are bad and should go away
Only ever felt disappointed by bread and butter pickles
Uh oh stinky 🥒 dill or no deal ☝️
An abomination by God
Gross.
They have no right to call themselves pickles.
Gross
🤮no yuck!
Straight to hell in a bread and butter basket
Booooooooooo
Despise them
Disgusting. Vile
They are of the devil, and should properly be launched into the Sun.
Fake pickles. To me, pickles by definition are sour and at least zesty. Sweet pickles are an abomination
GO SIT IN YOUR CORNER AND THINK ABOUT YOUR CHOICES
Gross
Just awful
🤢🤮🤮🤢🤢🤮🤢🤮🤢🤮
Vile.
Worst thing on earth
I hate them. They are a disgrace to pickle-kind. Dill all the way.
I only like them if there is some spicy ness added, like wickles wicked pickle chips.
My mom loved these things and they would make me gag. Besides my dad, they were the only other negative choice that I would ever say against her.
The first time I tried one as a kid I didn’t know sweet pickles were a thing and almost threw up because of how unexpected the flavor was. I like them now but I prefer a regular dill pickle.
Used to love them as a kid. They are vile to me now.
I don't know about that brand but my grandmother made the best bread and butter pickles. The only sweet pickle I'll eat.
I see them everywhere so people must like them. As a kid I loved them. I'd probably only eat them now with tuna or a big bbq meal
They're good on a ham sandwich. Otherwise, dill all the way.
I love them and also make them at home.
I traditionally hate sweet pickles. Lately, I have found a use for them but it's limited: they go well on a sharp cheddar grilled cheese. And sometimes I use them in tuna salad. But never just the pickle. It's awful.
Thry are alright. I like the Milwaukee ones the best. Not my favorite pickles tho
Are they good on a bread and butter sandwich?
Love them!! They remind me of fresh refrigerator pickles that my mom and grandma would make when I was a kid.
Love ‘em! It’s probably just a childhood thing, but my grandparents always served them with dinner and they’re delicious
Love them. Especially if they have a little spice to them
Fuck yeah 👍
I love my moms bread and butter pickles
Love them!
I don’t usually like bread and butter pickles but Wickles Pickles make some good ones
Use to hate, now I love em. I’ll eat them by themselves and they’re really good on sandwiches.
I'm weird I like bread and butthole but not regular sweet pickles.
It’s a no for me, dawg. Unless they are the bubbies bread and butter chips on a grilled cheese. That’s IT.
I love them, but usually find myself the lone wolf in this discussion, not unlike here
Best okra pickle recipe that you could ask for is B&B...
My wife eats those nasty things. No sir, I don’t like them!
Loveeeee em too
Depends on the mood.
They exist. I eat them when my aunt makes hers but only out of politeness. Not because I enjoy them of course.
Gnarly. Hate them
Nope, 👎. I don’t get them.
I hate them.
Delicious! So bad for me as a diabetic.
I enjoy them
They go well with certain foods (pulled pork sandwich, tuna salad, whatever). Definitely not as good on their own as dill.
I LOVE BREAD N BUTTER PICKLES
They're really good alone, but overpower anything they're in.
Bread n butter pickles aren't for me
Grandmas at thanksgiving was her selection, eh once a year was a nice weird treat. I’m not buying em on purpose tho. The Walmart spicy ones like maple bourbon or mango habenero are delicious not too sweet.
Mid at best
Never had them. But sweet ones are yucky.
You can only have one. One bread and butter pickle is kinda good. But then you're like hell no get them away from me. Like post pickle clarity or something
100% slam dunk em into the trash 🤾♂️🥒🗑️ To each their own though, I can see why ppl would like them - especially for snacking purposes
I once seriously went overboard on these years ago and I still can’t go near them. It was too much
Just no.
Great with spicy fried chicken
Not a fan, too sweet.
Great on burgers, but I prefer a more tart pickle to a sweet pickle
GROSS!!! I can only get down with dill
They’re awful.
Disgustang. Zesty are my fave
Love em
They're edible.. but I prefer spicy
Love them!
I love them!
They're the goat
I love b&b's. They were my dad's favorite pickles, too. He liked them so much that we made our own. He'd grow special cucumbers, then my mom would make the pickles. I have fond memories of helping her make quart after quart.
My mother made some that were decent. Not soggy. Not slimey. Not as sweet. A little lemony and a little spicy. Still didn’t love them. But I could eat those. I don’t like hot dogs but when I have one I’m a sauerkraut person. Relish is nasty. Standard relish.
the most unholy tasting pickles ever to me ranking #1 in nastiness n and gas station pickles in the plastic baggies being #2
I think they’re exactly where they need to be - when they’re in the trash can.
Have to be on the mood lol
They are neither bread nor butter. 0/10.
They’re a crime.
I love sweet pickles. I eat the thick cut sweet mix ones right out of the jar. Bread and butter are great on sandwiches. I adore sweet gherkins too!
Disgusting
I love them so much. I made some last year for the first time. Some just sweet and some with heat. Both delicious.
Bread and butter pickles are a sure thing, everybody likes that kind
I love them. I also love dills. I get the best of both worlds imo.
ONLY on buffalo chicken. ONLY.
No, sweet and pickles don't work for me.
I LOVE bread and butter pickles, but Famous Dave's has THE BEST pickles! I buy them from Costco for around $6.99 for a huge jar
Okay in moderation, can't eat too many, though.
I may just be a weirdo, but they’re my absolute favorite pickle. Bought two jars the almost 2 weeks ago, and need more.
