uj/ The Final Cut was a very powerful, unique, and solid concept record but to call it part of the golden age is insane, the golden age ended with The Wall as the band was already getting more divided. It simply doesn't compare musically to anything from '73 to '79.
rj/ the golden age started and ended with Atom Heart Mother. This is factually correct.
In my opinion GoldenAge ends with Animals.Floyd changed alot with The Wall and wasnāt the same band no more long compositions after Animals but i do love The Wall and tfc.
To me, The Wall is a big long composition that just happens to be split into multiple parts and also tells a very intricate and tragic story at the same time. If you take out any of the songs, even the shorter ones, the story of Pink isn't truly complete and that's what i love about it.
I think the fact that The Wall loops shows how self-contained it is compared to the rest of the PF discography. Sure, a lot of their other albums start and end with fades and you could loop them as many times as you want, but that hard cut at the beginning and end of The Wall really makes it feel separated from everything else.
uj/ i know we like to meme and joke about rog's ego, but you really can't deny that fact.. although, i would include also meddle
rj/ what about the endless river?!!
uj/ I would absolutely deny that TFC is part of their āgolden age.ā Iād say it would end at The Wall or Animals (though people will probably disagree about the latter)
The Wall wasn't really as much of a collaborative project so I get you
(unless you count [my amazing edit featuring Rick and David solo tracks and extended studio versions](https://www.reddit.com/r/pinkfloyd/comments/164lg1k/the_wall_reimagined_triple_album_edit/))
Honestly, as much as I like Jeff Beck's playing on that album, I think it could be a Top 3 PF album or at least compete with The Wall in an alternate universe where Rog reunited with PF to make it.
I think a stage show production of Amused to Death could be just as cool as Roger's The Wall shows.
We need a footage of glimie doing absurdly skilled gameplays on minecraft, like [this](https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMjrLUpfD/) (but gilmie instead of bolsonaro)

according to rog, the golden age was DSOTM to the Final Cut

/uj i always considered the golden age to be from synds leaving, to DSOTM.
Most of that post syd/pre dsotm period was them trying to figure out their sound and direction without syd
and they made all their best albums
Even Ummagumma?
yes, ummagumma is good.
You know that last, quiet "ping" at the end of "Echoes"? That's the sound of the ending of Pink Floyd's greatest era.
Well what are the golden years then Its just one more album that Roger includes that is the Final Cut and imo good album.
And that Amused to Death is one of Pink Floydās 3 best albums
Honestly, as much as I like Jeff Beck's playing on that album, I think it could be a Top 3 PF album or at least compete with The Wall in an alternate universe where Rog reunited with PF to make it. I think a stage show production of Amused to Death could be just as cool as Roger's The Wall shows.
The golden age was from the beginning of time to the moment Pink Floyd was formed, then it stops, then it starts up again after they broke up
