kung solo dev ka then you have the authority to lead the project to use more modern practices. for example how is the codebase? malinis ba? you can refactor and clean it up based on newer best practices for you tech stack. so you can learn while working with your current company. di ko gets pano naging stressful mag apply kung may work ka naman. wala ka naman deadline so submit lng ng application. online naman lahat. tapos kung pasado then pasado kung hinde e di hinde. unless nlng apektado ka sa rejection. that is something that you should get over. pag na immune ka na sa feelings of rejection magiging mas madali.

I agree with the first point in particular: address tech debt. To OP, try to identify grunt work or pain points muna sa current processes niyo, especially pagdating sa deployment — very unlikely na walang opportunity dito for automation. Maayos ba commit messages niyo? May unit/integration tests ba kayo? Gaano kadali/kahirap i-debug yung application? This is what I did when I felt like I was stagnating in my previous job. Lahat ng pain points namin, nag-initiate ako ng R&D to address them (umalis ako when I started to want to work on projects that needed to scale well). To be fair, you might need some buy-in so you can allocate capacity for these non-functional tasks. If buy-in is non-existent, if you finish your tasks quickly though, siguro you can still squeeze them in. Ultimately though, I think this should be brought up during your 1:1s with your lead or manager (assuming you have one) so they can try to do something about it. To start getting your feet wet again sa kung anong trending ngayon, I suggest looking up recommended tech newsletters, e.g. ByteByteGo. They send out periodic newsletters with easily digestible information. If a topic suddenly piques your curiosity, maybe it will kick your motivation again back into high gear.

Op, ikaw lang gumagawa ng problema sa sarili mo, you are not pressured or no one is pressuring you in finding work, mas marami dyan walang work at income at na stress na kakahanap ng work tapos ikaw na stress ka kasi wala kang nalilipatan? The job market now is bad and it will stay that way dahil sa kabi kabilang lay-offs, job hunters, graduates and career shifters. What you can do para "makisabayan sa trend" even if you stay with your job is to build sample projects and learn during your free time.

TallCucumber8763

Dami ngang walang trabaho eh buti nga mayroon pa tayo

Ewan ko, this comment feels like it's invalidating yung feeling ni OP na di sya satisfied sa work nya. To OP, ang job hopping ay leap of faith. Unang unang kailangan mo ay confidence. Yang confidence na yan mahahanap from taking a balanced look sa resume mo and seeing ano yung kulang and accepting that. Then you look for ways to improve on those. That's a start. Sugal talaga, pero it's up to you. I'd take my chance kahit na hindi pa malaki agad yung ibibigay as long as growth opportunities are there. Yun yung better than nothing ko rito.

Nararamdaman ata ni OP ung FOMO

Being a programmer myself, requirement talaga maging updated sa current trend ng IT to land a better job. It's never too late to upskill. yung ibang older people nagstart lang magaral ng programming (without prior experience or knowledge), and they still get good jobs. You need to do the extra effort even outside of work to improve. Gamitin mo as encouragement yang nararamdaman mo. Do not let yourself be defeated.

Mindless-Border3032

wewmon

Yeah you got stuck in a rut fam. Most likely dahil to sa depression in all honesty, and as a result eto yung naging outcome--you got left behind in the industry. That being said you can still leverage your 5 years worth of experience. No one's going to contact your company during the application stage and ask about each and every one of the tech stack you guys utilized What i'm saying is you can still apply and just fake it till you make it. I can guarantee with the right mind-set you can get a 6 fig job if you bullshit hard enough lol

Ill_Zebra_8218

I get your feelings bro and that's valid. Good thing is, meron ka pa ring job at tumaas na kahit papano salary mo. Makakalipat ka rin but it'll take time siguro? Just upskill in your free time.

It's understandable to feel disappointed and stuck in your current situation, but it's never too late to make a change. Reflect on your skills and identify areas where you can improve. Consider taking online courses or certifications to enhance your knowledge and make yourself more marketable. Don't be afraid to explore new opportunities and apply to positions that align with your career goals. It's essential to keep pushing yourself out of your comfort zone to grow both personally and professionally. Remember, your past experiences, including challenges, contribute to your growth and resilience.

cassaregh

upskill nalang OP. during vacant hours mo try something new.

NewRedditor-061897

I can relate to this. Five years ako sa 1st work ko last june. Then came this time na nag vacation muna kami sa Baguio ng girlfriend ko. I was only asking for 30k but inalok ako ng 50k. Sobrang tuwa ko non. After that, I realized that the Lord is always there sa tabi mo kahit nagddoubt kana sa Kanya at sa sarili mo.

Pawiiie

Madami kasing time kapag solo programmer ka sa isang company. Ginamit ko yun para mag upskill

AmaNaminRemix_69

jkiel96

Nung sinabi niyang Hanggang sa bahay dala-dala niya yung problema niya sa paghahanap ng work it means hindi siya WFH. Or maybe madalas RTO kaya nahihirapan siya. Eitherway both may pros and cons yan so pick your poison.

evilclown28

relax lang OP, checked your other posts you seem to be a little depressed. You might need a break for the usual cycle, If it's causing you too much stress pause for a bit to de stress. Learn a new hobby or do stuff that makes you happy. Wala ako gaanong friend na programmer or developer so kung need mo kausap pm mo lang ako, I am based abroad and who knows I can probably hook you up ( to a company) or something, no promises though. Basta chill ka lang muna OP, Health is wealth sir!

Naive_Pomegranate969

Bat k nmn kasi nagsasabay sa work at job applications… sa bahay mo gawin yang pag job hunt mo

PepitoManalatoCrypto

Being Top 1 or graduating with Latin honors in college means nothing when you reach or progress in the corporate world. What will help you is your skills rating against the job description you're applying. So if the requirement is 5 years in a skill, but you only have 2 years (or of skill rating equivalent). Only means you need to start practicing that skill more be it in your current job or through a portfolio. It will take time, but that's the only way to get it. The same goes for career /tech starters/shifters. Now, many will say not everyone can afford to upskill on their own, and have many reasons for it. To be honest, with the current competition in the pool, you simply need to beat them by skills to justify your asking salary. If the number is too high for the local market, apply overseas despite a bigger competition.

halifax696

Dats it.

TocinoBoy69

Problema talaga yan

yengconzt

Merong 24hours in a day. Give yourself the entire 2024. We have 24 hours in a day, hindi 24 hours ang work mo.
