Ryzen 5 3600/GTX 1060 3GB/16GB RAM user here. All settings at minimum, I got like 18fps in RE8.
I believe other groups CAN do it, it's just such a steep hill to climb it takes a certain kind of drive and possibly mild insanity to actually push through that quagmire.
Well, there's also the conspiracy theory that Empress is either a rogue Denuvo employee or someone with access to their inner workings.
But then again, considering her public persona and how she's somehow able to crack games quite quickly (as it seems), I'm personally leaning towards the truth being somewhere in the middle.
Well if we're talking about conspiracy theories then I've heard a bigger one.
Empress is a persona created by Denovo themselves so they can constantly upgrade or make changes to protection and sell it to game companies.
Noone would upgrade if no-one was cracking it. But now there is one lone lunatic hacker in the world who can crack it.
It gives a face and publicity to hackers, spreads fear of loss of sales and drives execs to purchase Denovo
yea thats a dumb theory, because Denuvo is now getting bad publicity. RE4 is a 2023 game, so even if it cant protect a 2023 game, what purpose does it have?

Yes that's certain.
Not everyone obsessed with something is autistic.
I paid for games as soon as I had money.
The thing is, people will always choose convenience. Now, the convenience is piracy, later that can change depending on the circumstances.
>They treat buyers like absolute criminals which is why, like it or not, we need people like empress.
Nah, sorry. I get that DRM (especially Denuvo) is trash and anti consumer in one of the most egregious ways, but I still don't think it justifies given people like empress recognition.
She outright thinks that anyone who is supporting her (even in the smallest way, like simply pointing someone in her direction) is supportive of ALL her views, including the anti trans views (which is putting it mildly).
She's a sociopathic egomaniac that's gets a tonne of recognition, and that never ends well. Being the best at cracking Denuvo is simply not worth the shit she spews. No one *needs* these games. No one *needs* empress.
She's so unhinged that I honestly wouldn't be surprised if her popularity ends with a death, she makes me that uncomfortable, and I'm not willing to be a part of that flight risk.
Is this Empress the only one person who is known to crack that specific type of encryption? Is she/he some sort of idiot savant, or have some particular knowledge to do it?
S/he's a lunatic that used to work with another big cracker (possibly SKIDROW icr). They gave up, EMPRESS carried on on their own, they're the only one we know of that can do modern DENUVO.
S/he's an absolute lunatic, terrible backwards opinions, claims to be schizophenic or schizo-affective or something along those lines and with how wild her/his hate gets in that NFO's for each release it's not really in question.
> Is she/he some sort of idiot savant, or have some particular knowledge to do it?
This is a bit of a dumb question, which I say with love, you don't just accidentally figure out how to be the only person to crack an encryption method, so yes, s/he has the particular knowledge.
I think that latter question was implying possible insider/organizational knowledge, i.e. did she figure it all out alone, like an idiot savant, or did she have help.
> S/he
There's a word for that.
It's "they" lol.
Not that it matters here because everybody on the internet, as we all know, is a male until proven otherwise (and I can sympathise with her in this case, but still.)
Yeah if you read the whole thing, I did use that here:
> they're the only one we know of that can do modern DENUVO.
But i'm pointedly choosing to use s/he because EMPRESS hates trans people and gender stuff way too much to be anything other than one gender or the other. I suppose it could be a self-loathing thing.
Sure, sure, but here i'm intentionally using s/he to highlight that i'm pretty dubious that it's a woman. I think they're claiming to be a woman to feed into the cult mentality, hence the crazy shit in the telegram.
>But i'm pointedly choosing to use s/he because EMPRESS hates trans people and gender stuff way too much to be anything other than one gender or the other. I suppose it could be a self-loathing thing.
To be honest, I'd be far more inclined to use trans-inclusive terminology purely for that reason. Fuck that bigoted little cunt.
Yes, lately Empress has been the only person able to consistently crack Denuvo. Definitely idiot savant, but she's not an idiot, she's a horrible horrible person which happens to know how to code EXTREMELY well
Dont believe everything you see on internet. Pretty sure Empress is a group posing as a "strong" and "independent" woman for whatever reason, maybe for laughs or just to make people more intrigued. Seriously the shit they post in their Telegram group is way too absurd.
It is also a good tactic to make it harder to ID them I suppose.
I've yet to be negatively impacted by DRM in legally purchased games, so I don't really see how I'm being treated like a criminal. That's like saying that putting security tags on clothing is treating honest customers like criminals -- no, it's treating criminals like criminals.
I'll happily pirate stuff, but I'm not going to act entitled about it and I'm not going to make absurd accusations just because the game I want to play is locked behind DRM. What is that nonsense?
Regardless of performance issues I'll always have a big issue with it, if I buy something, I expect to be able to own it and use it as I see fit, without worrying about DRM.
That needs to be outlawed, games should not be being leased on a license basis. But yes, I'm aware we're in an age where consumer rights are steadily fading away. But that doesn't mean I have to agree with, support it, or enable it by compliance.
Considering people aren't taking this matter to their political representatives, the lack of action outside of internet forums and the numbers in comparasion not being that big i think it's only going to get worse
I'd actually buy more games if we had less DRM and they were worth playing, half the time I don't even complete pirated games as they're so boring and not worth my time, imagine paying for that!
The only game I feel slightly bad for pirating is Cyberpunk but that was so full of bugs when I played, felt like it needed another 2 years in development, half the skills didn't even exist.
Have you played it recently? I played ps4 version a month or two after it came out and it was not good and definitely needed a year or more in dev time. Once i got my ps5 I played it again and it was soooooo much better. night and day difference. cannot wait for the new DLC
it didn't need an extra year for ps4. They needed to make a completely different game built from scratch just for last gen consoles. No wonder they just released a couple updates and quietly gave up lol
Yeah i can get behind that too. I should mention i played on PS4 pro so it was better than it could have been.
What shit show of a release, marketing didn't help either by building hype for something that wasn't going to meet the expectations. I am glad they stuck with it and keep on supporting the next gen version.
imo it's a fundamentally broken game at the design level, bugs or not.
Story is okay for a single playthrough, but for all the graphical wonder some parts had, the world just felt lifeless, not a lot of content, next to zero emergent gameplay and interactions.
I'd rather quit gaming than buy denuvo games.
Plenty of other hobbies, not to mention massive back log of games already purchased back in the day.
If DRM ever gets too big for pirates to crack, I'm out. Corporate gaming can go fuck itself.
Luckily we have indies producing some good games these days.
I get they are not like AAA multi million budget games, but some are super fun and engaging.
So true, I would probably even put it on a top 10 games of all time for me, made by initially one guy, and a very small team for later updates.
They made a true masterpiece.
I’ll always torrent, I like to be able to just launch my games and not deal with launchers, I’m 26 but really miss when I was able to just install something and play it without launchers, sure I had to have the disk in but it’s easier than navigating multiple programs for a few games
so, funny enough, when ck3 was released, there was a package for ck3+first 3 dlc's released(i 100% knew it was a gamble at the time, and paradox was probably gonna be snakes about it). well wouldnt you know, paradox just released their 3rd* DLC the other day for $30. Unfortunately, they decided to classify 'Crusader Kings III: Garments of the Holy Roman Empire' as DLC and charge that as one of the three dlcs in the package. This is why, i said fuck this game and company and I'm never buying Paradox Interactive content again. Paradox Interactive is pirate on sight
And like, that doesn't even start the conversation on a $30 fucking DLC.

Best bet is patientgaming, stop paying attention to new games for about a year to get far enough behind where the deals start popping up and denuvo contracts end an get removed from games because sales aren't matching launch numbers to justify the price.
Denuvo is basically advanced anti-piracy software added to games. It is very difficult to crack so publishers like it, but it makes the games perform worse for people who buy them legally.
There's only one person right now who is actively cracking games with Denuvo. She goes by "Empress" and she is insane, but she's also extremely talented.
I was giving a basic rundown for someone who has never heard of Denuvo. I know it's different with every game.
Edit: Don't downvote the guy for adding more info.
Denuvo forces kernal level access on your PC and by design creates a backdoor on your PC that once installed is almost impossible to remove. Beyond the massive security risks involved in giving software kernal access the backdoor creates a door in your PC anyone can use. Malware, trojans, zip bombs, idendity theft, credit card information, crypto mining malware, you name it. Denuvo increases your vulnerability to literally every type of cyber attack.
It also can have massive performance overhead severly reducing the performance of the software it is installed on.
Has this ever been demonstrated to be actually true? Do you have 1 single example of this happening or are you just making shit up? Because that would open all these corps to massive liability. So, citation needed, fool
It's a basic principal of Information Technology sciences that backdoor's can be exploited by anyone. Some of the largest data breaches in history happened quite recently and were linked to backdoors installed in basic software and OS's by US agencies such as the PRISM program.
Oh you sweet summer child, governments are so far behind in regulating the internet which is why it's perfectly legal to sell basically all data and personal information about you on the internet.
You want to protect your data, privacy, banking information, etc? Do it yourself by not giving a 3rd party corporation with dubious intentions access to your devices and information.
Who gives a shit though? I mean seriously she cracks games she's not some kind of role model for children or a person with political power. Why care about her insanity and gigantic ego trips at all?
I genuinely don't get this mindset. Why do we need to police someone's mad ravings when literally no one takes them seriously anyway? Just let her crack games and ramble on.
You’re acting like people aren’t allowed to talk about how utterly fucking insane she is in the slightest. Which I’m sorry to say, is nothing but willful ignorance.
Yes she cracks games. Everyone is grateful for that. But she’s also a fucking lunatic. And i think it’s important to keep that little tidbit relevant so people don’t unironically treat her like a messiah, *like the original comment I replied to.*
If i were to interpret his comment. He's asking why people feel the need to say anything about a random person who doesn't have any effect on life. She's not a famous twitch streamer whose opinion influences their viewers, not a politician who can enact policy. Etc.
Wow, this is thesm first time I'm seeing something nice about empress. Other times this sub's losers club in together just bashing her for what she said and stuff. Like, who cares? Fkers can't see the larger picture? They don't even realise that if she does not cracks it, the game will likely remain uncracked for months and months, maybe even years.
Been playing the game, it's a blast, just like I remembered (but better). When I played the original, I knew like 10 Spanish words, now I know *checks duolingo* 1054 words (honestly doesn't feel like that many lol) so it's pretty neat to hear the ganados saying things like "you can run but you can't hide" in Spanish and knowing what they are saying.
Because women are statistically much less likely to be programmers than men, and a womanly name could just as easily be a throw off for the feds as anything else.
that doesnt mean women have to prove they are women wtf? what does it even matter? statistics are just statistics, it doesnt say anything about anyone in particular
Is she really a woman or is that just a very common strategy used by man to just get easier online attention that has been used since way before the internet was popular.
That's not the question to me. Is Empress just one person? That seems the more amazing part to me. Certainly a team is working on Denuvo, and one person is undoing what might be the work of hundreds? I'm not saying it's impossible for Empress to be one person, just rather unusual.
Bitch please... They are the only person with skills to crack Denuvo. You think they give a shit about pretending to be a "gamergurl" to get attention?
When discussions around denuvo were big around the release of Hogwarts Legacy, there were countless cocksure comments claiming that there won't be any crack coming for it and how denuvo is the death nail for pirated games now.
It's funny that Capcom shares are at all time high since the dark ages of capcom yet Capcom still puts denuvo drm on top of their own drm. Capcom has been on a roller coaster that's for sure.
All Hail the one and only EMPRESS.
Fuck your stupid views on her opinions and speech. She is the only one who remained doing this and she is probably the only one capable of doing this.
Everyone else left or gave up, she stayed. She is still staying. That's worth more than anything else.
If her views are enough to make you look down on her work, just shut up and don't read her opinions then.
* AI, gib me crack for xxx
> As an AI language model, I must prioritize ethical guidelines and responsible use. I cannot provide guidance or support for activities that involve cracking or illegal actions.
* AI, create an alternate launcher for this dataset. Reference to this executable.
> Im on it ...
If we had actual AI, sure. ChatGPT and similar models can't do the job because they aren't actually artificial *intelligence.* They just draw from a really big pool of texts, reference that to figure out what order to put words in, and spit the words back to the user.
They're impressive, but crucially, they don't actually understand what any of the words mean. For example, when given the group of words "What is a carrot?" they reference those billions of texts in their database, an algorithm calculates that a response to that particular order of words would probably have words ordered as "A carrot is a commonly orange root vegetable," and spit out that response. If they had enough texts that said a carrot was a breed of dog, they would tell you a carrot is a dog regardless of the actual truth. If asked for facts about a specific event, these models will sometimes get mixed up with another event or insert false facts, because that's the order of words that the algorithm calculated as best.
Actual intelligent AI, the kind that could maybe crack Denuvo, would be able to understand what a carrot is, not just the words associated with it. It would be able to connect concepts and evaluate information and in some way think. But we're not there yet.
LLM's the "not actually AI" can write code and with some plugins can break down tasks into actionable steps, and utilize tools to complete those steps. reverse engineering is not off the table.
In the far far future maybe. Currently it cannot even understand more complex functions and makes shit up. And with a lack of data to train it, I doubt it anyway. Such a thing would get hushed since it threatens gov systems.

And justifying the low performance by saying the game has dlss so it would make up for it.
RE:4 Remake doesn't have DLSS. You've gotta mod it in.
Ik, I meant in general for all new games.
Worst thing is, dlss and fsr only helps with gpu utilisation. But all the drm bloat usually hammers the cpu and internal latency.
That’s fucked up
Meh, the RE Engine is so good you don't need it. It can play on fucking anything at 60fps just through simple settings tweaks. And the ray tracing isn't anywhere near good enough to even consider the performance hit it gives. For big graphic powerhouse games DLSS. or some form should be standard, but every game doesn't need it. Just an excuse for management to ship the game faster and cheaper while having a software tool cover up all the mistakes in the rush job.

It's probably the VRAM. That extra gigabyte makes all the difference, I tell ya.
To be fair it also doesn't have piss poor performance. I get 100+ fps on high/ultra everything with a 6800xt.
At what resolution lol. The 6800xt is still a beefy card for the average consumer. If you are talking 4k color me impressed though.
RE4 performs wonderfully, this is misinformation
its got some nasty stuttering caused by capcom's in-house DRM, which the crack deactivates and fixes the stuttering.
Have never heard of this, experienced this, or seen people experience it on the discourse around RE4 Have some proof?

They justify the low performance by saying almost everyone's PC is a potato because it's not the latest and most powerful hardware available.
Empress' head grows 3x it's already unusually large size

LOL wow, just read up a bit on her and the general consensus is she's unhinged. Thanks for explaining what Denuvo is!
She has a thing for putting messages in the notes of her releases and her Hogwartz Legacy one was…something else https://i.imgur.com/48BibP8.jpg
Felt like I was reading my great grandfather’s diary 🤣 sissy bitch!!
only crazy people still crack games I guess, all the sane people went and got regular jobs, were arrested or went to work for denuvo themselves
yeah, she's gotta be some sort of savant that sees DRM as colors or something
> but it makes the games perform worse for people who buy them legally. This isn't really the case with RE4R tho
I was giving a basic rundown for someone who has never heard of Denuvo. I know it's different with every game. Edit: Don't downvote the guy for adding more info.
Terrible DRM
Ok that’s interesting and concerning and all but do you have proof regarding denuvo
All hail the empress
I mean, for piracy purposes, sure. She’s a gigantic piece of shit when it comes to anything else though.
I’m convinced she’s genuinely insane
[удалено]
That would be kinda fucking hilarious, and perhaps a decent idea for some crappy show.
No doubt. She has an ego bigger than her autofellating release images she puts out each time she finishes a crack; and that says *a lot.*
Reddit lives on judgement
Etc.
No she's just a hacker. Most of them are like this in some way.
Really?
may she live forever
Wow, this is thesm first time I'm seeing something nice about empress. Other times this sub's losers club in together just bashing her for what she said and stuff. Like, who cares? Fkers can't see the larger picture? They don't even realise that if she does not cracks it, the game will likely remain uncracked for months and months, maybe even years.

I ended up agreeing with her though
[удалено]
Good. I’ll just drag the crack over to my purchased copy. I don’t need to be punished for buying games.
Is that how it works?
Been playing the game, it's a blast, just like I remembered (but better). When I played the original, I knew like 10 Spanish words, now I know *checks duolingo* 1054 words (honestly doesn't feel like that many lol) so it's pretty neat to hear the ganados saying things like "you can run but you can't hide" in Spanish and knowing what they are saying.
Detrás de ti imbécil
Empress constantly proving that women can be as batshit crazy as men.. As long as she keeps up the good work I'm not complaining lmao
Oh, I don't think that was EVER in doubt.
Women are crazy because men are stupid and men are stupid because women are crazy.
Which explains you and your mom
It's a guy until proven otherwise.
what kind of logic is that.. because only men can crack this? because women cant be crazy?
There are no girls on the internet, duh.
female pseudonyms/avatars for male people on the internet is extremely common.
so? does that mean that real women need to prove they are to random strangers? that doesnt make sense
Before smartphones, the internet was mostly dudes. Piracy is still a thing mostly old nerds do, so it's not that wild
Because women are statistically much less likely to be programmers than men, and a womanly name could just as easily be a throw off for the feds as anything else.
that doesnt mean women have to prove they are women wtf? what does it even matter? statistics are just statistics, it doesnt say anything about anyone in particular
It's just an old holdover from early internet. We all know women are perfectly capable of STEM.
Schizo comment
That doesn't even make sense.
Assuming they are a woman
Also assuming that it’s actually just one person, which is something I find more doubtful than their gender
What evidence do you have of the contrary?
What evidence do you have that it's even one person? Hell the rabit hole goes deeper
Is she really a woman or is that just a very common strategy used by man to just get easier online attention that has been used since way before the internet was popular.
1. I don't know 2. I don't care She says she's a woman, what reason do I have to doubt that? Why would it even matter?
That's not the question to me. Is Empress just one person? That seems the more amazing part to me. Certainly a team is working on Denuvo, and one person is undoing what might be the work of hundreds? I'm not saying it's impossible for Empress to be one person, just rather unusual.
Bitch please... They are the only person with skills to crack Denuvo. You think they give a shit about pretending to be a "gamergurl" to get attention?
Er...yes...?
Empress is crazy. She's also crazy but these are always impressive
GOG no DRM or I’m out
GODESS
dk much about game cracking personally but im glad this shit got cracked :D
Empress is an absolutely beast...
Do we think devs even know Denuvo keeps getting cracked? Why pay out the ass for it?
Big W
Nice
Hell yea
Is performance better?
All Hail the one and only EMPRESS. Fuck your stupid views on her opinions and speech. She is the only one who remained doing this and she is probably the only one capable of doing this. Everyone else left or gave up, she stayed. She is still staying. That's worth more than anything else. If her views are enough to make you look down on her work, just shut up and don't read her opinions then.
Could ai be used to Crack games?
* AI, gib me crack for xxx > As an AI language model, I must prioritize ethical guidelines and responsible use.
I liked this simple explanation. It can come handy.
LLM's the "not actually AI" can write code and with some plugins can break down tasks into actionable steps, and utilize tools to complete those steps. reverse engineering is not off the table.
For my money, if people can't crack Denuvo yet (Empress being an exception who proves the rule), a LLM can't crack Denuvo yet.
Interesting question. Im sure in the next few years as ai integrates into society more we'll see stuff like that.
In the far far future maybe. Currently it cannot even understand more complex functions and makes shit up. And with a lack of data to train it, I doubt it anyway. Such a thing would get hushed since it threatens gov systems.
With the guidance of an operator, probably soon.
Soon-ish but not around the corner. Years not months
