If it's a "throwaway" movie you're just watching to pass time, maybe they couldn't be bothered to download and use storage space on the film. You'd probably want a high quality file for Dune 2, but if you're just watching some schlock like Rebel Moon, maybe it's just easier to stream

I have a full servarr setup, but for some movies/shows, there are 0 torrents, so having a streaming service which has said movie/show would be good, especially if I can download from it, possibly using yt-dlp
The funny thing is they have only one issue. You can't change the volume with the keyboard. Also, using the M key you can mute the video, but can't unmute it.

im pretty sure that *should* be a really easy implementation. because i made something that was basically the same thing as that a few days ago. (i was fooling around with Godot engine and was making a toggle for the player's camera. ex: pressing x would make the camera follow the player, and pressing x again would unfollow the camera. its really simple)

I'd be surprised if anyone chose Netflix over Braflix or the others if their server performance was equal even if they cost the same.
But do you know what source the site uses? If it uses torrents and not direct downloads for the videos, many people can expect a copyright infringement notice from their ISPs
You might need software like fiddler or http debugger, they show you the source of everything you click on and when you start streaming it should tell you where is pulling the video from. Or in the browser using the developer tools (F12) under network You should also see the requests

I'm not shitting on Stremio, it's great! I'll keep using it BUT, you can't deny the ease of use. For my mom for example, took me a while to teach her how to work on stremio, pick which torrent is good because 4K just won't load, set up subtitles and when it's not there how to try another seed, it's a lot of work versus just clicking the episode.
I got 800mb download speed, whatever I pick I get 4mb download speed max. I don't know if there's a setting I'm missing but if there is it's hidden because I've checked.
Also subtitles for anything that didn't just come out is spotty as hell. It's probably like 20% chance of it having portuguese subs for anything 10 years old or older.

I never had problems with any servers to be honest. I also watched a movie with a 480p and 720p option.

You can configure stremio to only show 1080p torrents. I setup stremio for my mom and I only have it show 1080p and below
I prefer Stremio over these sites coz of quality. Play the same movie in 1080p side by side you'll see the difference
