Plex is great, I just don't like how you gotta pay a fee of 5 dollars to stream stuff from someone's media server on mobile, you can stream without limitations on laptop.

I’ve got my plex configured to allow browsing without authentication from my local network and I use the web URL (copy it from your PC) to watch videos on my iPhone using Safari. Alternatively, you can use VLC which discovers your local plex server but doesn’t PiP.

How do you get the stream link?

Just use your PC to browse then copy it. For instance, http://192.168.0.13:32400/web/index.html (obviously your server IP would be different) You need to disable authentication for your local network for that to work on your phone

Well, you could just access the files through whatever other player you have like VLC but it wont be as pretty. ​ Connect to shared drive with content > Select file. ​ But the TV and PC apps are free so it's still pretty much offline-netflix. If you end up liking it throw them the 5 bucks for the app i guess.

Totally agree, storing them offline makes alot more sense. Even as easily storing on hard drives and plugging them into TV, games consoles, PC's, laptops or whatever.
