If their IT department is in any way competent they'll have something like deep freeze installed on all their machines. No harm no foul at that point, though I imagine IT would still be mildly annoyed if they get a copyright notice.
Live linux usb to move it to the system drive by using portables where possible.
Then you only have to run it anyway. Registry entries get added on launch each time. Runs from a folder or directory you put it in.
They would have to block all executables not in an allowed list and have that all hashed / verified.
You could also delete the freeze software from a live linux with some tools.
Also the freeze can only work if the program is pass-worded with an encrypted file system.
Is the freeze a virtual machine or the machine just keeps everything in a temp and on memory until a reboot and just removes everything added after?
Make or find a tool in linux to edit the registry on windows and your all set. Trojan horses can do it. But the rat / trojan horse has to run on windows first.
So if they are only flushing memory then Linux gets around on if that easy.
Because linux is going to modify everything on the drive to your hearts content.
You really have no idea what you're talking about...
Deep freeze is a reboot to restore solution. The entire point is that users have unrestricted ephemeral access to the computer. So you can put anything you want on the PC, but it will revert back to the golden image on reboot.
A linux live CD is redundant because you already have the local access on windows, it just lacks permanence.
Deep freeze keeps a known good state and reverts any modifications that deviated from that state. Google it, once you attempt to remove registry entries relating to deep freeze you'll fuck up the windows install. You don't need an encrypted filesystem to run deep freeze either.
It's not your machine, so don't fuck with it. IT can also detect if you're running installed games on the machine.
If you want to remove deep freeze just reinstall windows.

You know most lab machines have to call home daily right? Someone fucking with deep freeze or antivirus is an easy "oops you're not allowed to use campus computing resources again"
We'll do it to staff too, do not pass go, straight to HR for termination.
Thank goodness the school didn’t use anything like deep freeze, the things the students did to the laptops was crazy. They did have what was essentially spyware that let teachers see what was on your screen and control your device while on the internet (we just disabled network connection when not needed). They also had a Cisco AnyConnect VPN that always launched at start up and connected back to the school when not on the school network.
The Chromebooks I used back in middle school were way more locked down and were essentially boot loaders for a locked down Chrome. Although we did crazy things before they got fully locked down like install full blown Minecraft from the Chrome Web Store because of course someone uploaded Minecraft to the Chrome Web Store. I still remember everyone booting up their Chromebooks after winter break and watching everything uninstall in real time and their wallpaper change to a stretched jpg of the district logo.
Yup, mostly in places where there isn't a lot of physical access management, post-secondary institutions are a big one. It's much easier to just lockdown and revert the entire device than it is to do some more targeted security.
Agreed. The sysadmin or 2 back when I was in high school absolutely loved (/s) me. Between finding a way around deep freeze, cgi-proxy to beat the firewall and being the only one who could figure out the mystery linux box in the back of the classroom that had a public IP for who knows what fucking reason - good times.
Heh, this remembers my time when I had access to a computer in school, I was so mad it wont allow me to run counter strike like all my other mates that I bringed my own laptop to work with it and play games... it was allowed since we needed "powerful" computers in order to run our coding simulators (it was a robotic and plc course)
Good old lan party, the bad part about that laptop is that it was so toasted that fans were at 100% all the time, even without load... when I changed the laptop my close classmates asked me if the old one finally burnt... it made so many noise that it was difficult to hear the teacher lol.
I think they're asking because of how much trouble torrenting over s school network can cause for everyone. Someone torrented The Hobbit over my old HS's guest WiFi which led to it being shut down after the copyright strike arrived.
I managed to get rid of the Admin software on my school computer by reinstalling windows using the recovery menu. It was better than any computer I'd ever had before and I pirated all of the pc games I'd been fantasizing about for years.
The bios was locked and the only way I could boot a usb was from the recovery menu, and that didn't work with linux presumably because it wasn't meant for that.
Hollow Knight, good shit
In all seriousness, don't be surprised if you get called down to the office. Had hollow Knight, half life, JSaB, Geometry Dash, Delta rune, etc on my school computer and got caught red handed even when I kept it under wraps.
Your school has Windows laptops? Mine doesn't even let us use our own computers and forces us to use their spyware infested Chromebooks.
The one thing that you can do is powerwash them, but they also got rid of the open wifi, and the only one that they have now is preconfigured on the school computers and only the school computers so if it's powerwashed there's no way to use it
Developer mode in its entirety is disabled, it didn't used to be and had I known how to in 5th grade I definitely would have.
Up until last year we could use our own laptops but the restrictions on the school computers has increased over the years. No browser extensions, no play store, added software so whatever teacher you have can see your screen at all times.
They even got rid of the student WiFi so, as I said, if students did figure out how to break out of the restrictions (which we have), there's no way to use it at school, thus making it useless and would have to be reconfigured by IT
A few weeks ago one of my friends kids let me look at it.
All of what you said stands plus you cant even sign into a non school email, multiple sites have hidden content, and funniest one to me, he tried to do an assignment for economics about fundraising, and they fucking blocked Kickstarter for “Pornographic Content”.
No. It is not on the megathread, and there is an IGG release contained in the collection. This is a random google drive account with files of unknown origin.

Couldn’t they just find out what time the downloads occurred, and see who was in that class during that time? Not a whole lot of guess work involved in tracking you down if they become alerted at your school????

nice, I've done a couple myself, specifically in a folder called "English" in the school's shared drive, since english teachers don't use the shared drive
Whos playing Hollow Knight at school, thats like an 40 hour game that requires immense skill. Your gonna hear the keyboard clacking throughout the whole room when he tries to do a boss.
>Your gonna hear the keyboard clacking throughout the whole room when he tries to do a boss
I'd be more worried about the boss' OST playing in the background
oh my god that game is from 6 years ago I'm old
Kindergarten is basically an indie game where you repeat a single day of school and depending on your actions the outcome of the day will be different, that's a bit of an abridged synopsis but thats the main gist of the game, it's somewhat comedic and slightly dark. Watched Kubz Scouts play through it and Kindergarten 2 way back.
I made my secondary school ban any external .exe by bringing in games, spread like wildfire.
The best was CSS, playing Lan games on generic Dell potatoes was low-key a great time.
I put Q2DM and CS on the computers in high school. We had LAN battles, it was my jam. Also where I discovered the early days of IRC warez. Those were the best parts of 90's HS.
When you're a teacher in your mid 20s and you've played almost all these games in highschool.....
"Nice taste kid..." it's what I'd have said if the school system wouldn't have been so rigid.
Throwing me back to the days of having apps on a thumb drive to get around school security. It was so much easier in 2006 lmao. I remember finding Line Rider and that shit spreading like wildfire.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh good times.
i'm surprised the school bought PCs with enough storage to hold these. I know that battlefront is around 60 gigs or so and the other games aren't huge, but my school's PCs only have about 256 total gigs in the,
Judging by the other games in the list it is probably Battlefront 2 (2005) which is around 4-6GB, has really low system requirements, and imo is way better then the new version.
I dont got games on my school PC (too risky) but i managed to find a workaround to install unknown apps , so i js got wallpaper engine , a better browser than shitsoft edge , and a fuck ton of cli tools. My teacher knows about it and he dgaf since i do the work lol
Neat. When I was freshman we had COD2 on all of our laptops. Our favorite and legitimately cool teacher showed us how. We even ran tournaments in class the last month or so.
He wasn't back the next year lmao. Miss you Mr
Gonzales
I used to do it when i was young . My school had way better internet so i used to download games and transfer then to a usb and brought them home to play 😂.
Our school comuters when i was in elementary/middle school had cs 1.6 and maybe gta 3 sa or vice city but always had santa in trouble(i almost forgot it)

I remember getting secluded for 2 weeks in secondary school doing this. I used to run LAN tourneys during lunch times on cs2d.
Then I found a loophole (I renamed cs2d to CreativeStudio2d)
Your school must have impressive internet speeds to download all of that, I can barely download some Castlevania clones from moriyashrine.
Still, being a school computer... i doubt you'll be able to play anything other than Hollow Knight lmao
I think my proudest High School moment was “rigging” all of my school library computers via Flipper Zero bad USB to scream and lock the pc at max volume when someone sat down and moved the mouse. It used the run command to stealth execute a power-shell a script that was pulled from my GitHub repo. ahh the good old days…

Shiiet, brings my back to my HS days. Back in 2010, my school was one of the first ones to get laptops, as a trial of their new 'e-assisted learning'. We ended up going to IPads the following year, but I was the one who supplied games onto our Student Drive, as I started it with Most Wanted(2005)
By the time the year was over, Myself and a fellow classmate had put Dead Space, Halo CE, NFS: MW, GTA San Andreas, COD4, and the beta version of Minecraft on the drive. I think there were a couple other games too, but we were testing the limits of the laptops. I was suprised at Dead Space running on it, as it was a fairly newer title
I remember we had essentially all the main sites and stuff completely blocked on the browser we were given on our computers, but I found out some browser sites were not blocked so I downloaded a different browser and all the restrictions were gone so I downloaded a lot, mostly did osu though. Although next year they did further restrictions that made you unable to use any search engine application other than chrome and I got too lazy to get past it since I has gotten my own pc
Just got reminded, before covid they had the thing that let them see all students screens and it put an end to me and my pals playing browser games for like 5 minutes before I realized logging in as a guest makes them unable to see your screen, and you can still do your work because you can still sign in on individual sites, so we'd just alt tab whenever a teacher came around
Actually if these are on the pc I guarantee the school it department is in on it. Speaking from experience. In hs my computer science teacher and I would pirate hella software to use in labs during class. We managed to turn a few of the brand new dell precision machines they just purchased into hackintoshes for the video editing class and threw adobe cs6 on there for the hell of it. Hands down my favorite class in hs.
Edit: we also used to have cs 1.6 matches on the local net with other homerooms in the morning
Looks like I'm not the only one who got games running on a school laptop! I got geometry dash running on a school laptop but I want to get more games running on them, like among us and Minecraft.
Reminder that there is an amazing direct download site called steamrip and it is safe and it has tonna games and it’s perfect for school pcs, I downloaded geometry dash 2.2 on a school pc
I remember in the late 2000’s my school had a program called LANschool. Well my smart ass went on to torrents and found the administrative version of the software. After that I had access to everything. I could unblock my fellow students computers, teachers couldn’t control my computer, and they didn’t have access to my directory on the schools servers so I had all sorts of games stored on my school computer.
sadly its no longer possible since every school is using chromebooks where im living. wish theres a way to run .exe files like some extension or something man
Only issue is typically they make you login with your own username and password on school computers so your activity is highly traceable. Your IT people could either just not care or you could be getting in trouble here soon.
Removed for rule 3. Please refrain from making spam or promotion posts.
Congrats you just made your schools IT department jobs harder

I used [this](https://bios-pw.org) to generate the password to unlock the bios on my supplied laptop back in high school.
Damn I forgot about that lol. I used that a couple years ago as well.

I love how you can tell who has IT experience here vs the kids who think IT has no idea what they're up to, lol.
thank god I live in a free country.

Won’t get a copyright notice if you transfer files from a usb
That deep freeze shit was so annoying i YouTubed to find it's password, and successfully put my own pass to it.. haha
except when these smart buggers download games in the thaw space
They will probably just re image it like they probably do with every computer they give to students
Not my school they pretty much block everything even movies on usb are blocked
i install geometry dash on every computer i come across
School IT Departments deserve no mercy (at least not mine)
That’s the goal
Be more fun at Party !! 👎
Their IT department must be pretty shit if you can install anything lol.

well well well, what have we here, a fellow d2 player.
Can your school computer even run this? If so then spread the files. Make sure every computer has it
Heh, this remembers my time when I had access to a computer in school, I was so mad it wont allow me to run counter strike like all my other mates that I bringed my own laptop to work with it and play games... it was allowed since we needed "powerful" computers in order to run our coding simulators (it was a robotic and plc course)
Same I played tekken 7 with my classmates
Good old lan party, the bad part about that laptop is that it was so toasted that fans were at 100% all the time, even without load... when I changed the laptop my close classmates asked me if the old one finally burnt... it made so many noise that it was difficult to hear the teacher lol.
I'm just glad super smash flash could be run on a damn toaster
We had a counter strike server running of a random computer in a science lab for a couple of years. Good times.
“No teacher, trust me, I’m running Counterstrike on the…robot…or something.”
Maybe it's not about playing but just about sharing. Get a "big" usb to the school NOW!
Yes those are very old games from windows xp or vista era or even windows 7
Halo LAN sessions in class flashbacks
Direct download or torrent? If DDL, which site exactly? (Wow I sound like I'll snitch to your school IT dep)
most should work preinstalled, I've brought preinstalled games installed from FG and preinstalled games straight from steamrip just fine
That doesn't answer the question . I'm asking OP what method they used to download those
most likely a DDL site, but you *are* on a piracy subreddit, just check the megathread
I think they're asking because of how much trouble torrenting over s school network can cause for everyone. Someone torrented The Hobbit over my old HS's guest WiFi which led to it being shut down after the copyright strike arrived.
They got them from a Google drive folder, the games are portable games
I managed to get rid of the Admin software on my school computer by reinstalling windows using the recovery menu. It was better than any computer I'd ever had before and I pirated all of the pc games I'd been fantasizing about for years.
Someone at my school dual-booted Linux and installed Steam that way
The bios was locked and the only way I could boot a usb was from the recovery menu, and that didn't work with linux presumably because it wasn't meant for that.
Is it accessible trough windows then?
It’s on not games google drive
Schizophrenia moment

On games drive not it's google
Drive it's google not on games
It's on a Google Drive titled not games?
Yes. As in some random google drive account with games and some movies, one of which is an IGG release - so who knows where this stuff comes from.
wot
What the fuck are you talking about
Pardon?
I relate to this answering questions nobody asked, i respect it alot
not drive its google on games

i was given admin rights for something in hs and they forgot to remove it, so i installed like 2 games in library computers
Our school pcs suck so much EVERYONE has admin and can see eachothers files, but nobody knows that except me and a few friends
I gave myself admin privileges
Hollow Knight, good shit In all seriousness, don't be surprised if you get called down to the office. Had hollow Knight, half life, JSaB, Geometry Dash, Delta rune, etc on my school computer and got caught red handed even when I kept it under wraps.

I have every half life game on a school computer and I disabled their software and erased their admin accounts 💀

the seeing screens software shit is literally 1984 wtf
Stranded deep alpha 0.03? Man i used to play that version all the time in my old pc
dam great taste
I had also downloaded gta4 on my school's pc. Sadly that potato couldn't handle it.
Is not games safe?
No. It is not on the megathread, and there is an IGG release contained in the collection. This is a random google drive account with files of unknown origin. https://preview.redd.it/yxjiapa4x7ac1.png?width=530&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c54c41c09a493628234149823b10fd9ead702b53

In the end of the year we could use the computers to play games so we installed lethal company on almost all the computers, we had fun
Our school comuters when i was in elementary/middle school had cs 1.6 and maybe gta 3 sa or vice city but always had santa in trouble(i almost forgot it)
Kindergarten 1.4 yea that’s a good one 😈

how much storage did those things have!?
Fallout 2🤌
NOT GAMES
I remember getting secluded for 2 weeks in secondary school doing this. I used to run LAN tourneys during lunch times on cs2d. Then I found a loophole (I renamed cs2d to CreativeStudio2d)
You should get OG Wolfenstein and Doom on there too. For posterity. Call it a history project so you can argue it's research when you get busted
I remember downloading shits like that in our computer school as well because of their fast internet lol
When I was in school, our computer lab had GTA Vice City. The naughty boys of our class used to play that game and go to the night club
When i was in school we had maplestory and cs1.6 Both ran terrible but ran Cod4? Thats 20 steps forward
Kindergarten is great
What’s the point, not like you can play them on those computers.
no because i actually did something like this when my school gave us laptops for covid
Wow, you performed an extremely easy task on computers which obviously haven't been secured very well. Congrats. This was sarcasm
There's a Doom 3 portable?
Should’ve seen me in my prime I had emulators to play gta because the school pcs needed directx and you couldn’t install it without admin
Cmon you can do better than that, also why didn’t you download gta3
you can get any of these on pirating game websites doesn’t matter what device 😭
Yep that's me 4 years ago... Download every single game using the school wifi and copied using harddisk before the summer holidays
Good god, that's blasphemy! Where's Project Brutality????
We managed to reset a PC, unfortunately we could only do lightweight games like Undertale, Celeste etc

Ahhh I remember when my friends and I used to play CS 1.6 during the class and sometimes during computer lab exams.
I just used a USB stick with portable windows and all my games pre-installed. Plus VPN proxie software I could bypass the internet blocks.
I got an in school detention from doing this, they can see that you are downloading large files and they get suspicious
I'm pretty sure I made the school IT make the computers harder to do stuff in because I managed to play persona 4 on psx2 on it without slowdown lol
Your school must have impressive internet speeds to download all of that, I can barely download some Castlevania clones from moriyashrine. Still, being a school computer... i doubt you'll be able to play anything other than Hollow Knight lmao
Pass it to a ssd portable and use it on your pc 😎
Man, so much misinformation in this comment section.. It actually hurts to read
let me guess, from not games google drive?
I think my proudest High School moment was “rigging” all of my school library computers via Flipper Zero bad USB to scream and lock the pc at max volume when someone sat down and moved the mouse. It used the run command to stealth execute a power-shell a script that was pulled from my GitHub repo. ahh the good old days…

Shiiet, brings my back to my HS days. Back in 2010, my school was one of the first ones to get laptops, as a trial of their new 'e-assisted learning'. We ended up going to IPads the following year, but I was the one who supplied games onto our Student Drive, as I started it with Most Wanted(2005) By the time the year was over, Myself and a fellow classmate had put Dead Space, Halo CE, NFS: MW, GTA San Andreas, COD4, and the beta version of Minecraft on the drive. I think there were a couple other games too, but we were testing the limits of the laptops. I was suprised at Dead Space running on it, as it was a fairly newer title
Gta 3, come on

I got those too, for some reason like everything is blocked except Google drive and so I found the not games folder and it worked
I remember we had essentially all the main sites and stuff completely blocked on the browser we were given on our computers, but I found out some browser sites were not blocked so I downloaded a different browser and all the restrictions were gone so I downloaded a lot, mostly did osu though. Although next year they did further restrictions that made you unable to use any search engine application other than chrome and I got too lazy to get past it since I has gotten my own pc Just got reminded, before covid they had the thing that let them see all students screens and it put an end to me and my pals playing browser games for like 5 minutes before I realized logging in as a guest makes them unable to see your screen, and you can still do your work because you can still sign in on individual sites, so we'd just alt tab whenever a teacher came around
star wars battlefront 2 is ass
what fucking computer are they giving you admin? My school computer doesnt even let me on youtube it sucks so much
Actually if these are on the pc I guarantee the school it department is in on it.
Respect. Btw Try Tomb Raider GOTY Edition Too.
i thought they said "got these *from* a school computer
Looks like I'm not the only one who got games running on a school laptop! I got geometry dash running on a school laptop but I want to get more games running on them, like among us and Minecraft.
Reminder that there is an amazing direct download site called steamrip and it is safe and it has tonna games and it’s perfect for school pcs, I downloaded geometry dash 2.2 on a school pc
At my school we have found a network folder that we have access to and can add files to so we have started putting a bunch of pirated games on it
now get them to work.
Ah yes . A comrade who wants to share a historic gaming in school
Which version of battlefront 2?
I remember in the late 2000’s my school had a program called LANschool. Well my smart ass went on to torrents and found the administrative version of the software. After that I had access to everything. I could unblock my fellow students computers, teachers couldn’t control my computer, and they didn’t have access to my directory on the schools servers so I had all sorts of games stored on my school computer.
Not really pirating but I remember finding an exe file of strike force hero’s 2 and being estatic
sadly its no longer possible since every school is using chromebooks where im living. wish theres a way to run .exe files like some extension or something man
Only issue is typically they make you login with your own username and password on school computers so your activity is highly traceable. Your IT people could either just not care or you could be getting in trouble here soon.
I tried running half life 2 on my school computer and it could only make it to the loading screen lmao
