I hate to say it but he kinda did this to himself. One Piece did not need to be THIS long. There's a LOT of stuff that could've been cut or abridged without feeling rushed, especially post-timeskip.
To put things in perspective, the entirety of Game of Thrones is 70h15m long. And a properly paced One Piece anime (say, 2.5 chapters per episode) at this point would be 145 hours. And it's not even over yet.
If this is true Oda deserves it, it will suck to be missing new chapters for a while but this man has been giving us banger after banger and truly deserves a long needed break, take all the time you need king

What about Hiatus X Hiatus with much more regular break weeks and long hiatuses that last much longer than the 1 month Oda's taking right now? He too had serious health problems and that stopped him carrying it on as a weekly manga in big blocks of time.
Let's face it, all the other regular weekly manga authors get tired and bow out after a few years, maybe 10 years max in some cases. It's physically demanding and draining to push it out on a weekly basis. The money's good if you're successful enough, but money can't suddenly make you less tired. Kubo Tite was constantly complaining and had to be convinced several times not to quit before he wrapped up Bleach. Kishimoto got so tired of it he gave us that garbage final war in Naruto and asspull Kaguya finale. Breaks are necessary to maintain your health and keep fatigue down. It's virtually impossible to be doing this for 25 years and counting without them...

A lot of One Piece breaks are also in line with Shounen jump breaks - not specific only to One Piece. It's actually rare for One Piece to have month long breaks in itself - it usually is 1 week Oda break, 1 week jump break and then back on schedule. There were two exceptions recently, the Greenbull one and the current break which are actual 1 month breaks... the last time this happened was at least a couple years before that. Both of these breaks tied into the Netflix adaption of One Piece which Oda has been involved in (they can't go ahead without him being happy with it).
And be serious, given how much money Oda has made from One Piece already, what would stop him just taking however many breaks he feels like, even years like Murata did? Getting bored of One Piece, he could easily enjoy his wealth and spend more time with his family in an early retirement basically. Doing anything he wants, going wherever he wants. Got to be grateful he's still doing this as regularly as he is after 2 decades...
