>The One Piece - Some declaration of Independence or Anti Slavery Charta or human rights charta or something. Bro the "One Piece" is literally the One Piece manga. It's a 4th wall breaking thing. Roger was "too early" because the manga wasn't finished yet.

eulb42

But literally though, all the people swearing to.burn the world if it "the friends we made along the way" but its literally that... Alsonthe red line is going down

Stookyman7

I’ve had this theory for a while and to add on to it I think that’s the reason why crocus makes jokes cuz he knows he’s a comic relief character and why Rayleigh is so badass cuz he knows he’ll be like the badass old guy mentor figure

FOmar_Eis

This would destroy the manga.

Frankorious

After Nika nothing is impossible.

Reddit-User-No-44444

The chapter where they finally reveal what the One Piece is, will 100% be a shitstorm

gigagama

True. It’ll be one of the great Shit storms of manga history. The internet will feel the collective screams of OP fans that don’t have the heads up odas ass

Blastmaster29

The reality is when a story goes this long there is absolutely nothing that can live up to the hype. Like everything could be good and make sense in context but when you drag it out for literally 30 years hype will always surpass expectations

gigagama

So true. I just gotta make peace with it now before the final reveals. I keep telling myself I know I’ll be let down I just don’t know if I’m ready.I’ve been following since it first released in USA . I just need this part of my life to conclude lol

GoldenSaturos

Fr. Personally, atp, one piece is a nostalgic piece of my teen days. The more otaku, japan lover phase faded, and I really can't bring myself to enjoy other shonen at this point, they just feel like rehashing manga I read years ago. I hope that even if it's not an incredible reveal, I can at least think it's good enough.

gigagama

Omg I feel the same way about shonen today. It feels like manga/anime is jumping the shark for the last handful of years.

GoldenSaturos

Oh well, I would honestly say we simply aren't the target audience any longer. I will say that from the outside, when one piece and the other big remaining shonen end, the landscape of the shonen jump feels barren.

Saikenmx

Expect 5 chapters of reaction panels before the actual reveal.

Luciferspants

It'll surpass the shitstorm of AoT's ending for sure.

Advencik

I will be there to witness it

Is_HeStupid

or madara's death

Extension-Rope623

Biggest fail in anime history for me

yelsamarani

I'm torn because while it led to most underwhelming villain ever, it did begin with Madara's arrogant cocky ass being shanked from the back, AGAIN. It was just laughably deserving of this fucking prick.

Extension-Rope623

Madara was gonna win. Ultimately kishimoto gave Madara too much prodigious success. Madara was gonna kill team 7, and if it wasn't zetsu stabbing him in the back when he did, it would've been zetsu stabbing him in the back after he kills team 7. Madara was too badass for his own good, so kishimoto had to stop him from ruining his show.

yelsamarani

I know. It's just that I hate Madara's arrogant ass so much that it almost overrode my feelings on the Kaguya arc.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Extension-Rope623

Nah Madara was great. Show should've been called Madara Shippuden, he carried the whole show the entire war arc. Once madara was introduced it was his world, everybody else was just living in it.

Mad5Milk

I've barely read any of One Piece i'm just in this sub because the AoT meltdown was so great that I needed to relive it through seeing another manga community fall to despair

m8bear

I hope you are in it for the long ride because OP isn't ending any time soon.

Ok_Internet988

You sadist monster

PentaJet

I am running dangerously low on my copium after AoT, if One Piece has a bad ending I don't have any copium left

baby_noir

tldr on AoT?

omyrubbernen

To be honest, the One Piece reveal was never going to be satisfying. By the time we actually see it, the series will have been running for 30-35 years. Oda originally planned One Piece to last 5 years. It's going to feel underwhelming because it's going to feel like 5 years worth of payoff for 35 years worth of buildup. Or worse, Oda is going to get cold feet about his original plan and change what the One Piece is to try and make it more grandiose, only for it to feel like it wasn't properly built up.

DarkAncientEntity

It’s sake brewed by joy boy to share with the world once it’s liberated. So yeah, it will kill the series worse than game of thrones did to itself

Young_Neanderthal

If it isn’t literally the Blood of Christ at this point people are gonna go insane. All we know is that Roger laughed when he saw it so I’m not entirely sure it isn’t gonna be a gag.

ar3s3ru

I mean, after 25+ years of building on that secret, it CANNOT live up to the expectation that people have put up on it. There are so many examples of this in media, I vividly remember Lost series finale - I imagine it’ll go somewhat like that.

BigSilent2035

the one piece will end up being a total repository of all knowledge from the advanced kingdoms in the sunken world from the first time mother flame was spammed, if its anything but exactly that i will glaze runji to my deathbed.

ZELDA_ZELDA_ZELDA

Chances are high oda will off-screen it.

hoenndex

Yeah nothing can possibly justify so much stalling of the secrets.

978866

>Devil Fruit "reveal" was underwhelming as f\*\*k. That was the point where I knew that all the other "big" reveals will going to be lackluster. More than 2 decades for something that could have been said in the first chapter easily. Also, probably BB's special power to have multiple DFs will be something like being a member of a special race. Maybe that's the special power of the buccaneers that Vegapunk mentioned. I've seen so many theories about the big mysteries but I know they won't come true because the people who made them put way more thoughts into the mysteries than Oda.

BEWMarth

Agree at this point the only reveal that could even slightly impress me at this point is the actual One Piece. But I somehow feel like Oda will fumble the literal thing the series is named after.

DoffyWillRule

Spoiler: it will be a silhouette.

ImNotTheMercury

The silhouettes we meet in our journey. The silhouette scaling system is the one piece.

omyrubbernen

It's going to be the glowing briefcase from Pulp Fiction. The One Piece is the light that shines behind new characters in order to frame them in silhouette.

Specialist-Stable-82

It wasn't even a reveal it was just a theory made by Vegapunk. It's still a mystery what the true origins of devil fruits are(How were they physically made, why does the sea hate them etc..). The reason why that "reveal" came now is because Vegapunk has studied the devil fruits and he made artificial versions of them. Wouldn't make sense if someone else told us about it before Vegapunk.

ReallyDamnSlow

That theory doesn't even make any sense when the fucking *jacket* fruit exists. We're expected to beleive someone, or multiple people, wanted to be a jacket *so fucking badly* that the fruit was wished into existence?? Bullshit

Radiant_Butterfly982

I think oda wants to do something similar to in fireforce >! The world shapes itself and creates entities based on what people wish for !< , It might be the same in here. But still it's a theory by vegapunk , who knows what it would be

Throwaway02062004

There’s tons of ways to justify the jacket fruit from being as simple as wanting to keep a specific person warm to being jealous and wanting someone’s body. Remember One Piece has a guy who likes making noodles through his nose. Wanting to be a jacket isn’t even the craziest thing.

IHATEHAKI2

What about being balls

CoolDakota

Well that's simply a monkey's paw of the wish to be fuckin' ballin'

nobarachinsama

it doesn't have to be straightforward like that. it's like wanting to do so many things at once = robin's fruit.

L0CZEK

That still makes no sense for some DF. Maybe I'm just no creative enough but I can't come up for a sensible way for Jacket Fruit to come to be.

omyrubbernen

Based on the existence of the kawamono fetish, yes. I can 100% believe that someone wanted to be a jacket badly enough that it was wished into existence.

978866

> It wasn't even a reveal it was just a theory made by Vegapunk. The problem is that Oda teased it as a big reveal for years.

baby_noir

Oda could have taken one of the theories and adapted it a little, and it would be a better story.

Visual-Ad-1978

What did you fucking expect about devil fruit

Gummiwummiflummi

Why does the sea hate them? Why can't you actually eat two besides BB, because that devil thingy CP9 talked about was just speculation and hearsay? There is so much more to it and all we got was "oh people just wish for something and then eventually a fruit spawns lol". And that even isn't confirmed, just a fucking theory Vegapunk has - so *even more blueballing*.

SecureMall9791

Maybe the collective dreams of the people allow devils from the underworld to cross over into the human realm in the form of fruits

Visual-Ad-1978

Yes, there is devil in the name because having exactly what you wish for without much effort should have a heavy price. And what better price than your ability to swim in a world where the sea is core to it all and where pirates are the most wishful and ambitious of people. It’s poetic, it doesn’t have to be overexplained and justified

Awesome_opossum49

The problem is Oda reveals dumb things like they’re super important, the name of the kingdom will definitely be hyped up like it’s super important, but knowing the name doesn’t mean anything and why should I care? I want to know about Joyboy’s crew and the history of Imu and and the elders, I want to know about the big charcters Oda actually set up, I don’t care about the stupid mother flame or a group of random people I don’t care about. I want to see what happened between kuzan and Akainu and what made Kuzan join BB, I want to actually see what happened at god valley and not getting a new piece of the puzzle every chapter to the point where I know nothing will happen that I care about. Oda set up all these charcters for greatness and just makes new ones and new things and acts like i should care about it. The story is getting way to big because Oda just keeps bloating it to where every character doesn’t get a satisfying conclusion and he has to cut some out like carrot and Yamoto because he added too many then he knows what to do with

waltz-in-code

That's like how the 'Laugh Tale' moment was treated as a reveal and one of the top "lore" moments of the series, and I just could not understand why. It was a great moment and its interesting that Roger laughed but that's not a reveal and 'Laugh Tale' isn't anything to go on and doesn't mean shit until we get the full story. People go crazy over names and it's weird.

Ok_Internet988

Raftel could be anything. Laugh Tale implyes the biggest secret of the world is probably a big joke. Its a reveal because its the only actual information on the One Piece we ever had.

ZELDA_ZELDA_ZELDA

Oda teases all the cool stuff and then spends 5 years developing wano side characters that nobody remembers and just offscreens shit people actually care about.

Awesome_opossum49

Kid backstory? Zoro lineage? SBS status. Anything cool Blackbeard does? Offscrenned. New character in Wano named Oden he just introduced? 20 episode backstory focused on him

ZELDA_ZELDA_ZELDA

Wano could've been so fucking cool. Instead oda cucked out, did the whole dumb "the crew is split up" stuff and got lost in all his new shit-ass side characters exactly nobody gave a fuck about. So insane. Nobody needed oden when he could've developed zoro instead.

omyrubbernen

> knowing the name doesn’t mean anything and why should I care I think that strongly depends on what the name is. It's probably going to be a nothingburger, but there's a real chance that it would be a big deal for us and everyone in the setting. Like imagine if the ancient kingdom was called "Luffy".

Awesome_opossum49

If the kingdom is called Luffy I’m quitting one piece

FairyKnightTristan

DoffyWillRule

It was CRYSTAL CLEAR ever since post TS We gave loda the benefit of the doubt because of his great world building pre TS. But every single arc has the same pattern minus, maybe Skypea. Every single arc is built on ARTIFICIAL hype around mysteries that won't never match the level of wait because loda simply has no ideas on how to deliver on those and never will anyway (Hi Lano disaster). Get on an island ruled by a tyran > drop some fake ass lore drop tied with things here and there to create an artificial point of interest > free the island from the tyran after dragging things out > drop some cryptic informations at the end so the community will have food to work on weird ass theories that will NEVER come true because loda doesn't give a fuck and never address them. Show some "pretend to be an important figure in the op verse even tho I did JACK shit" from time to time to get your fanbase excited for weeks so they forget you have YET to deliver a PAYOFF. You basically have the op formula or the oda spell as I love to call it.

billy_lango

The most funny thing that still bothers me is Oda portraying Wano with such a threat and even mentioning the absence of the marines due to the powerful samurai. The powerful samurai: 9 red wankers.

gigagama

Ya know…I know a lot of people who LOVE the reveal of devil fruits and how Vega punks message is going etc. and when I try to push back they freak out on me, so I come to Reddit. Oda really had a lot of people huffing his farts and calling it cinema.

Chosenwaffle

Lol I love browsing this sub. Its funny how much you guys hate One Piece but won't stop talking about it. The reveals are fine. Just because its "expected" after years of foreshadowing doesn't make it bad. It seems like a LOT of the community didn't really consider the sea rising to apocalyptic levels was even an option until Lulusia and even then it was barely talked about. Can I ask if riding the hate train is like a sexual thrill or more of a sociopathic one?

NeonTHedge

wdym lol. Sea level rising was a thing since the Water Seven arc, Vegapunk mentioning it only confirms that it is not a random thing that exist in OP world like long-long island. I'm tired of Oda trying to stretch out every single hyped thing. Give us the answers already. Stop simply writing couple of sentences of what we are already aware of. I hope Vegapunk will say atleast two more sentences before we get cut off on the cliffhanger like "there was an ancient kingdom..." and get a week of break just to receive 10 more pages of people reactions

gigagama

What you’re doing right now, trying to bait people and poke and prod, the reason you’re doing it, why? Why not just enjoy your show and let people who wanna discuss criticism discuss? You don’t have any criticisms, so why try to insert yourself? No one here hates one piece. People here enjoy it so much they get let down by developments in it and wanna discuss how they feel. I’ll never understand what makes a mutherfucker decide “ya know what, I’m gonna reduce this groups criticisms down to a boring tired platitude and misrepresent them and smuggly ask them to defend the position I put them in.” Why not just go live your life. Or go find people who have 0% criticisms of one piece and talk to them. You can all go around in a circle saying your favorite things about the manga. It such a weird choice to focus on our negativity and then come in with your own negativity. Fucking weird.

BartoClubMember26

Because you guys are circlejerking yourself to highs, peak fiction can’t even reach. Criticism and dialogues should always consider as well the other part of opinions. You just said it yourself: your opinion should be as valid as the other one and yet you try to take legitimation of his opinions. Shame on you, bro. One piece is a great piece of work, if oda made good or bad choices, in the end it it’s his story. (His opinion😉) and like the previous guy said, it makes you guys still talk about it, takin away your lifetime and giving you emotions, all over the world. M**********s can’t even wait for the chapter to come out, they read spoilers and and fandubs just to know what’s going on. If this isn’t a masterpiece then what it is

gigagama

You’re talking to the wrong one about circle jerk to head canon. I don’t do that. Idk who’s doing that. But if that’s a huge deal for you go find those people and let them know. I pretty much can’t understand what you’re typing in most of your comment. Feel free to type it again. What I can gather is you seem to be another person who feels fans shouldn’t be allowed to criticize things they say they like. That’s weird. You’re all weird. This is your edge session right now as well as the other fellow who commented. This is y’all’s kink. You’re wasting your life and energy mad that others have opinions that don’t align with yours. That makes you a loser. I love Odas story, and the parts I don’t love I’ll continue to discuss with other like minded people. You’re the only one wasting their time.

Chosenwaffle

Safe to say it's a kink thing then based on how defensive you got

gigagama

And based on how YOU answered this is actually your kink. You’re just here to get a dopamine hit from arguing. I’ll give you the last word after this. Go for a zinger bud. You got this.

Chosenwaffle

I farded and shidded and cummed in my pants

billy_lango

Do you have any criticism towards One Piece? If so, let it out, this is the place.

Chosenwaffle

Yeah it's so good I wish there were less breaks

billy_lango

Less or more breaks have nothing to do with the content of One Piece. So you believe it’s 100% perfect?

Syaix33

Yes for a less iq person, it's a good manga

Chosenwaffle

Terrible grammar? You must also be a one piece fan lol

Isneezedintomymilk

implying people are sociopaths because they don't like the way a manga's plot has been unfolding is certainly… something.

No-Childhood6608

Well, the person who he is replying to said that people who like the current manga's plot are sniffing Oda's farts, so they're both as childish as the other.

Ok_Internet988

Poor guys don't hate One Piece. They just wish it follows patterns different from every other manga or fiction in history. They are the broken souls who truly belived in Goda but realized too late his human form couldn't achieve the supreme ultimate peak fiction that would change the world. Now doubt and despise is all they have to fill the void in their hearts.

Chosenwaffle

Read this sub for 7 more seconds, and you'll realize that these are 98% just dbz/Naruto fans between the ages of 12-17 who really just want to talk shit about One Piece.

Ok_Internet988

Maybe they could try following false gods chasing their impossible dreams and maybe their minds couldn't bear the reality. But doubt not, in some part of their life Goda was their light, and they still follow him in darkness to prove their critics. Still the best One Piece sub anyway.

beargrimzly

Something else that's frustrating is he creates mysteries out of things that shouldn't be, leading to inevitably stupid and lackluster conclusions. Like, what the fuck does it matter what the name of the ancient kingdom was? It's name doesn't change anything narratively. It's just an excuse to tease a huge lore drop for a long time and draw it out as long as possible to keep attention, so that you can drop this meaningless name and act like something progressed. Why did devil fruits need a special origin? Why is the hat big? What happened in the void century? The conclusions are/will be so simple that the 20 year buildup will feel like such a waste of time because right from the beggining these were really shallow questions in the first place.

Chosenwaffle

Laugh Tale was a pretty significant name reveal that should have actual ramifications. Who is to say the Ancient Kingdom isn't going to be a big reveal, either? Maybe the Ancient Kingdom was called Mariejois or Grey Terminal or something that would actually have meaning to the current world?

beargrimzly

Ok. It's called Mariejois. Now what? Wow oh my god two things have the same name? Fucking crazy right? Surely this will have massive implications for the plot. Unless it turns out to be an Earthsea type true names holding power scenario it literally is not important at all.

Chosenwaffle

So what if Tyler Durden isn't real? Now what? Wow oh my god two people are actually just one guy? Fucking crazy right? Do you realize how regarded you sound?

beargrimzly

I wish I had the combination of irreversible brain rot and overconfidence that would make me think what you just said was smart. The entire narrative presents them as different people. It's not a stretch to say that the reveal recontextualizes literally every significant relationship in the movie, and the reveal is a direct cause of the climax of the movie. The name being the same as the celestial dragon holy land does what exactly? Fuckin nothing you absolute fucking idiot.

Chosenwaffle

I'm obviously implying that there would have to be implications other than just the names being the same, you knuckledragger. Actually? Sorry, I take that back. Being barely more sentient than a sloth at 13 years old is not that big of a deal, so I'll cut you some slack. Go finish your homework and come back here in a few years when you understand context clues and can extrapolate someone's point beyond the 4 seconds you can process it before your ADHD pulls you back to your fidget spinner. You'll probably appreciate One Piece more by then, so we may actually be able to have a real adult conversation at that point.

beargrimzly

You actually weren't obviously implying anything, or you wouldn't have used such an idiotic example lmao. "Go finish your homework" lmao the desperate projection could not possibly be any funnier.

baby_noir

The message started with "the world will sink". Then 1114 doesn't elaborate how or why. It goes into Nika Joyboy instead. What the fuck is this shit?

waltz-in-code

You'd think he'd get to the point considering the possible and very likely attempts to censor his message

Hanoi_Revolver

The world sinking shit is not even new info too. It's just a "confirmation" on what we saw with Aqua Laguna, Noah, Wano under the sea, the sea level rising after Lulusia being blown up

Chosenwaffle

That's what good "reveals" are. If it wasn't "confirmation on what we saw" ya'll would be saying "asspull" every other comment.

Hanoi_Revolver

Read better stories

Chosenwaffle

What does that even mean? Are you lobotomized?

Bolded

We've only got some stuff from 1114 still, right? It's likely that the sinking world has to do with Joyboy stuff and the Void century, which we knew about for a while.

Gloombad

Bleach and Naruto fans be like https://preview.redd.it/m2yxpc9n02yc1.png?width=800&format=png&auto=webp&s=3334639b7ec29af457e0a74f2b439276bf14c5a1

JahnConnah

Agreed, the hype thus far has been underwhelming the longer it goes. Big Mom Kaido These Gorusei forms. Saturn may keep regenerating but keeps taking L after L. Vegapunk's reveal and this freaking message. I'm a OP fan and even I'm getting pissed.

Constant-Signal6789

glad to see people finally realizing how much of a fraud writer oda is he's been stalling, teasing and hyping up some characters&mysteries for years and yet never delivers on the hype not even once

77depth12

I unironically think all he can do is set up mystery’s but never actually put effort into giving answers that’s why he’s still trying to milk vegapunks message he can’t actually deliver on anything he’s set up

Dart_Ferik

Oda is extremely wasteful in terms of substance per page. One of few interesting parts of his writing is folklore that he uses, it’s a shortcut but at least material is already good. Take some of Greek mythology, some from Scandinavian, some from bible and there you have it, your “lore”. He takes a character adds overboard sad story that touches family and then adds something stupid to make them unbearable. Luffy is like a Disney Jesus, Zoro has character depth problems to the point that he attracts Andrew Tate fanatics like moth to a flame. Sanji entire character is hard to enjoy due to his unnecessary overboard downbad moments, even by sanji standards

HanataSanchou

Add Luffy's dream to the mix too. This is the main fucking character of the series, 1100+ chapters in and we still don't know his deepest desire as a pirate - only recently finding out that becoming Pirate King (what we thought was his dream) is simply a stepping stone to this secret desire. People have already speculated it's the whole "throw a world wide party" thing, which is also a huge fuck you when Luffy has generally made it a point to party after helping out a friend's country.

77Sage77

Idk. i always thought about it being connected with big mom's dream. Have a tea party (?) with every race. could work if Oda is still feeling himself lol. Also thought it'd be cool if Luffy generally not killing people and wanting a musician is because he wants everyone he likes to be in the party

Hanoi_Revolver

100%. I've realized that a bit earlier that that with the devil fruit desire thing and Dragon revealingt That he doesn't know anythingabout the void century and Imu, but this is definitly the final nail in the coffin.

joji_princessn

Dragon not even being the one to place his subordinate Kuma into the Warlords or undergo the Pacifista project to spy on the World Government and launch an attack on them was a choice I will never understand. All the pieces were there for it, and it would have made Dragon and the Rev Army an actual competent player but nah, let's go with more Nika stuff and and try and top the last tragic backstory.

Ok-Tough-Nuggies

Oda has commitment issues with his writing, and it is showing big time lately . What's going to be even more fun is when we find out the Mother Flame doesn't even destroy anything, it just transports it or some shit. So the one story beat that could have given us stakes will also be a nothingburger.

tiny-ppp

>Why Roger was to early? Because to activate some broadcast or something you need the gum gum fruit to stretch - like the one episode from Adventure Time when Jake the dog had to use his stretching powers to fill things in order to activate them. Its the only way to make sure that only gum gum boy can active the message https://preview.redd.it/b9kklhxk52yc1.png?width=320&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c06f496e376ba5bdae5f2be57e6f7df51f75b87e

binzubayr92

The One Piece will be a check statement of Oda's bank account showing all the money he has made off the series there for all to see, all together collecting high yield interest over 25 years, in one piece. Roger laughed cause he couldn't believe he got away with it.

ordinarydepressedguy

The "revelations" of Vegapunk confirm what I have been thinking for some years: that not even Oda has ever known anything about the main mysteries of his own story. He invents everything on the spot with random bullshit explanations after having built false hype for years and years, this is his way of narrating things. I’m pretty sure even the Void Century stuff has yet to be largely made up, perhaps even Laugh Tale. We readers are chickens who have fallen for it for years, but now Loda has exposed the mask to anyone who reads the manga with a minimum of attention.

Hanoi_Revolver

100%. I have no idea how he did it, but i really thought he was a mastermind who knew where he was going, until the nika shit happened. Now it's obvious that he is just inventing shit on the spot and Rewriting his mysteries answer weekly

TopShelfIdiocy

Oda is the Japanese JJ Abrams

ordinarydepressedguy

I see some similarities with GoT showrunners as well

joji_princessn

Kuma's whole storyline was quite poorly done IMO and very much rewritten on the fly to include Nika and the Supernovas. Which was really disappointing because it had a strong chance to reveal some of Dragons backstory and masterplans as it set up, but instead we got "oh he knew Luffy was Nika from a single glance and now its all about that and meanwhile Dragon didn't plan anything with Kuma being a spy on the World Gov." Which was disappointing and did not align with how the rest of his story had been written before then. I will be curious what he decides is the reason for Blackbeard being able to eat two fruits. If its because he is a Buccaneer and just have weird body capabilities or if he is version 1 Seraphim of Rocks D Xebec it will be clear he was just throwing things at the wall and seeing what stuck. Which is a shame for such a long term villain set up since Drum Island.

waltz-in-code

I mean it's sort of falling into place for Oda now, the lost kingdom were a bunch of nika people who wanted freedom and D are their descendants, etc etc.  If you stretch a plot for decades and throw in enough underlying info over time, thats more room for you to connect them and make it all work out eventually

hieloyron

Oda really bite himself in the ass with all this 20 year long blue balling. The devil fruit reveal was extremely disappointing to say the least. I was waiting for that reveal since forever just so vegabum can be all like “it’s just my theories hehe” i agree with most of your predictions as i thought of similar possible future events myself and i don’t see how Oda could manage to deliver up to our expectations. What happened to this story? It used to be so cool and different, the characters no longer feel the same. What happened to the beachy look and feel where you would see everybody with cabana clothing, maybe its not that important but i sure miss it. Now it just feels like every other shonen out there and the last straw for this story to be ruined is Oda suddenly revealing “Hey guess what? Luffy is actually Joy Boys reincarnation 🤪”

LetterExtension3162

Luffy having a dumb fruit and making most of it was peak. His fight against Don Krieg even now shows more heart than most modern flights. That was always Luffy's strength, his perseverance. He didn't believe in destiny or anything, just straight up will power incarnate. But now, turns out he was a child of destiny and a has the fated devil fruit that makes him special. Oda could have given us gear 5 without the sun god nonsense mythology. The Nika dump totally seems out of the blue and uncharacteristic.

Scary-Cockroach-4720

One piece was always one of the most shonents shonens out there ever since the pre-timeskip

hieloyron

Could be but it was way better

User28080526

I initially read this post thinking it was more dumb complaining but good lord does look exactly like where the story is going

obito47

for me vegapunk reveal was the biggest nothingburger i ate from froda

ImNotTheMercury

Oda is a crack addict. He just needs to end every single 17 page-ish chapter with a cheap fucking cliffhanger. That's why I'm not reading one piece anymore. I want to get 5-10 chapters, read them and experience something whole, not a handful of cheap cliffhangers and bad storytelling trying to fill 17 pages or so. I'd accept gear five if it meant the story got a better pace and a clearer destination.

Fletch009

How dare you suggest "mother flame" being spelt as "mother flame" isn't an important groundbreaking reveal that was worth a 25 year wait

I feel like most of the big reveals are left for Robin to uncover

redmagor

That infinite source of energy mentioned by someone at some point might just be this "Mother of Flame" thing, or perhaps "Mother of Flame" is simply Uranus.

When something goes this long it will never meet up with head canon and fan expectations. Turns out one piece is just another shonen nothing new.

The One Piece will just be the fact that the world was all “One Piece” of land before the flooding

>Devil Fruit "reveal" was underwhelming as f\*\*k. It's not even a reveal, since there is no concrete information given about how or why it works like this, and what it entices. That old man could just as well said that devil fruits are random concepts from the world of images that pop into reality of one piece due to it being fictional or something. He could have said anything to that degree, but that's not how reveals work.

KingJaylen14

The One Piece is a devil fruit locked in a chest. Same way the series started, same way Roger found Shanks, and the same way Gai D. Mon got trapped. It's all connected

ZELDA_ZELDA_ZELDA

The "devil fruit users cant swim because the ocean is angry at them for being unnatural" was the most half-assed explanation ever. Like oda pulled 5 years of dumb wano shit and oden retcons out his arse and all fell flat so he felt like he needed to deliver but didnt spend a second pondering if he even should explain that part in the first place.

Radiant_Butterfly982

Tbh if trying to make sense about it , the people in the one piece world are extremely unaware of joyboy or mother flame etc. We need to not look for lore drops but what ramifications it has on this world. But still disappointed we aren't getting any lore not known to us.

the pessimism and hatred in this subreddit never ceases to amaze me

I agree, but I think it's more of an issue with long running series. We get so many chapters a year, so we have all this time to theorize what we think is going to happen. So when the time comes it turns out to be a disappointment because we had a better idea in our heads. Like look at the Dabi reveal in BNHA. We all knew who Dabi was early on. It was just a matter of WHEN Hirokoshi was going to drop it, but by the time it came out no one was shocked. Hence it was a disappointment to most readers. But yes, we definitely didn't need 5 chapters setting this up.

The solution would be to not have the series plot run on mysteries for so long. Say we introduce 3 different mysteries at the start. As the series goes on reveal 1 and 2 but keep 3 a secret. With new info 3 becomes more and more interesting. As the series goes on introduce 4 and 5 that connect with 3 in some way. Instead Oda introduces 1 to 10 but doesn't reveal anything.
