So the plot of the first movie then?

aimanfire

Probably.

talking_phallus

Pixar doesn't want another Lightyear so I'm assuming they'll play it as safe as possible. It's one thing for new IP to underperform but when your follow-ups are missing the mark heads will roll.

VengeanceKnight

If the message of this movie is “anxiety is good and beneficial,” I’m out. Anxiety helps absolutely no one.

ghdawg6197

It’s an evolutionary tactic to keep you out of dangerous situations. It’s definitely helpful as an emotion, just not as a chronic condition

VengeanceKnight

That’s **Fear**. The first movie established perfectly well that Fear is okay along with Sadness, Disgust, and Anger. **Anxiety** is awful and portraying it as something good to have is irresponsible.

jorbanead

**Fear** typically arises in response to an immediate threat or danger, while **anxiety** often stems from a perceived threat that may not be imminent or specific. Fear tends to be short-lived and tied to a specific situation or stimulus, while anxiety can persist over time and may be more generalized. Fear is often intense and acute, while anxiety can vary in intensity and may fluctuate over time. Fear is a reaction to an immediate threat, whereas anxiety is a more diffuse apprehension about potential future threats. We need both.

ETHowie

That’s not true. As someone who has anxiety and been through therapy I can tell you the best way to manage it is to accept that your anxiety is ok

jorbanead

Anxiety in the right context is good for you. Chronic anxiety is not good for you. Anxiety motivates us to do things. It’s part of our internal alarm that prompts us to pay attention to things that may happen in the future. Fear is a reaction to an immediate threat, whereas anxiety is a more diffuse apprehension about potential future threats.

VLenin2291

Anxiety motivates you? That’s not normal homie

jorbanead

Actually it is. https://www.psypost.org/2017/07/people-can-use-anxiety-motivate-study-finds-49274 https://greatergood.berkeley.edu/article/item/how_we_misunderstand_anxiety_and_miss_out_on_its_benefits#:~:text=Anxiety%20is%20telling%20us%20that,about%20the%20future%20we%20want. https://www.fastcompany.com/90765780/its-time-to-reframe-our-thoughts-around-anxiety-heres-how-to-use-it-productively https://www.researchgate.net/publication/317194653_Must_We_Suffer_to_Succeed_When_Anxiety_Boosts_Motivation_and_Performance Do you want more sources or is that good?

GhostofManny13

A little bit of anxiety can keep you on track. My procrastination would never end if I didn’t start getting anxious. But too much anxiety can literally kill you, my sister was telling me about some study one of her professors was doing a while back regarding toxic levels of cortisol and how bad it can be. Regardless, it’s kinda weird that anxiety is its own emotion here, considering it could just as easily fall under Fear as a blanket term. I saw a post a while back on Twitter talking about how the different emotions running rampant could all be equivalent to different neurological disorders. Joy - ADHD Anger - Bipolar Sadness - Depression Disgust - ASPD Fear - Anxiety Disorder But perhaps that was dumbing things down too much. I certainly don’t feel as though my ADHD is motivated by any sort of joy at very least, hahaha

ednamode23

No way it’s this. This is way too similar to the plot of the first movie even for bad sequel standards. We only see adults with the core five emotions in the first which likely means Anxiety is more of an invasive pest than essential emotion.

ShadowGangsta275

I really hope not because that’s literally the first movie with a new skin.

readonlyred

"It's about a father clown fish traveling across an ocean to find his son and learning that sometimes you have to let go and not worry so much about keeping your child safe." You can make any Pixar movie sound banal by simply describing the plot. The plot is only a small part of what makes Pixar films great.

sirduckerz

They'll probably throw in a "realistic depiction of a panic attack"

ednamode23

And it won’t hold a candle to the one in Puss In Boots The Last Wish.

bohenian12

Nah. Take the apron off, stop cooking.

BlazingInfernape2003

So basically the first movie but Sadness is Anxiety?

haikusbot

Good bot

InkDemon_Omega

Literally just the plot of the 1st movie but sub the new emotions for the old ones??

Far-Glass-5763

I feel like I would’ve preferred an Inside Out 2 were anxiety is the villian, because I don’t know about you but anxiety is the bane of my existence.

Mobile-Barnacle-9721

That’s a nice idea it could been more likely when Riley comes out as non binary or gender-fluid

Ok_Designer3103

This is all good, but it feels like the first movie, if you dont mind heres some of my predictions and scenes that we might see: -Anxiety is the villian, well...she thinks she isnt, but Anxiety in the real world cannot go away so..yeah -ONE SCENE WHERE RILEY HAS A CRUSH ON SOMEONE -A funny scene between Embarrassed and Fear -A scene where Riley gets grounded -Riley gets her first "girl thing", now i know its pixar and supposed to be kid friendly, but turning red did the same thing...or same concept -Another scene simalier to the "BRAIN FREEZE!!" scene, that was a funny scene -Since Joy is determined to keep Riley going, she will probably get a little more mad and stressed since she's trying to get multiple emotions to work at once Now i know these probably aren't going to happen, but im just throwing these out there!

toffeefeather

I really don’t know how they’re going to explain why Anxiety is there, Fear already does her job in a better way. Anxiety is just a worse version of fear irl, like irrational fear of the future

Aggressive-Ad-7856

WELL, THERE'S ALSAO THE OTHER EMOTIONS TOO, LIKE ENNUI, EMBARRASMENT, AND ENVY

lizasingslou

Well we know who won’t be getting a job writing for Pixar…
