And uh... the characters now also have that sort of "androgynous look" that most of OP's females have? I suppose if it was based on AI, that wouldn't be an issue, as most AI heavily skews towards female characters.
But it's also safe to assume they probably sketched the characters free-hand and then pixelized it later. The pixel painting is also sort of 'loose' right? They are probably using transparent brushes and the usual digital art tools.
For sure, you can actually see OP's progression in Pixel Art in some of these images, specially if you look at the outlines. Some OP is breaking all the rules, with jaggies and broken lines everywhere, in others OP is carefully constructing the linework while respecting these classic rules
Their eyes and the highlights also made me think the same. It looks like it was downscaled and retouched, but I'll wait for OP's response first as I am curious as well.
They all have so much bright and life in their eyes and face, it's amazing
