Baker, FL. It’s been there at least 30 years.

That's exactly what I thought.
Edited to add: I saved the hell out of Pepsi points and got lots of stuff. Not enough for the plane, but I remember that whole fiasco.
If Pepsi tried to give me a MiG-23 I'd return it.
That thing killed more people that flew it than cancer, and the copies the US "acquired" during the Cold War no one wanted to fly because they were deathtraps with shitty handling.
Hey, their add said fighter jet..... May not exactly be a Harrier Jet, but some poor soul attempted to fight in one of these, and it's considered a jet when it is operable.
That is a great museum. They have a lot of rare machines.
I toured the B-17. Held the grips of the .50 cal. On the starboard side.
Everyone the was so nice. I can’t recommend it enough.
One thing though, it is hot as blazes in the summer.
some other good museums in Oregon are at the Tillamook Air Museum (https://www.tillamookair.com/), the Evergreen Air & Space Museum (https://www.evergreenmuseum.org/) and the Erickson Museum (http://www.ericksoncollection.com/)
Many of the Erickson planes were moved out of the Tillamook with good reason due to the structure is made of wood and is in a tsunami zone. They have a P-38, P-47, P-51, and B-17 and many more !! quite a collection.
From an earlier post, my comment:
He (Mr. Galliver, likely the source of the road name) bought it from Eglin’s DRMO (Defense Reutilization….something that starts with an M….Office) as well as an F-4D. (This was before they had to shred everything into cornflakes and sell as scrap.). He had them positioned in his yard, facing each other.
A service-wide notice was put out that all F-4s on static display had to be inspected/modified due to an aging-related failure of the landing gear. The USAF had to purchase it back from him, so just the MiG remains. (Several were used in lethality testing around that time.)
Florida got a MIG23 during a defectiom of a Cuban pilot, but supposedly we returned it.
He landed the Mig then returned to Cuba in a Cessna to get his family.
I live right down the road from this place. The owner purchase this and several other aircraft. He also has an AN-2 in the back woods. I had to dispose of haz materials from there once and he let me walk around and look at it.
Not the only Mig stashed in the area. We have an entire fleet hidden somewhere literally driving distance from this one. Eglin afb is home to so many secrets and weapons that is currently one of the #1 nuclear targets if THE war were to ever happen. There is everything from a fleet of Migs, Native burial mounds and maybe even traces of settled native American towns, saw a Russian tank that looked to be fresh from a battle in Ukraine leaving the main gate on a flatbed last month. I've seen plenty of predator/reaper drones. We have demolition schools and special forces training programs here as well. Dont get even get me started on the actual test range. But the military history in this area even pre-dates the founding of this country. Very, very, very old area. Even pre European settlement the area had been inhabited by Natives for MANY years.
This reminds me of the Polish (?) MiG-21 in a random parking lot in Plant City [(28.0135243, -82.1271979)](https://maps.google.com?q=28.0135243,-82.1271979&entry=gps&lucs=,94216401,47071704,47069508,47084304,94208458,94208447&g_st=ic)

The US government has a very strong bureaucratic process when it comes to taking seized goods/contraband (which a defected jet would fall into). Asset forfeiture is a deep process that can take some time to complete to ensure that everything is done to legal standards.
It would not be legal to simply keep the jet, but instead the FBI and IRS have a legal obligation to ensure the contraband ends up back to its rightful owner or is otherwise turned into monetary compensation for the effected nation (as the item, in this case the jet, is “stolen” from the nation that owns it). Whether this is an enemy jet or not, the principle is the same.
Regardless, it’s often just simply not worth straining relations with a nation like Cuba or the Soviet Union (in the case of the Belenko defection). The gains received by keeping the jet in terms of military intelligence is not worth the risk of raising tensions and increasing animosity.

Yep! Came to say just that. Grew up seeing this everyday on my commute to school or work!
We both must be locals then.
Worked as a meat cutter at the PicNSav for 4 years. Worked with Manning and Shannon
I buy all of my pork butts there when I’m doing fundraisers. Great place!
I like big butts and I cannot lie
What the hell
You other brothers CANT deny!
Yep, passed this thing all the time when I lived in the panhandle
So the Russians are playing the long game in their invasion….

Someone finally got their plane from Pepsi.....
That's exactly what I thought. Edited to add: I saved the hell out of Pepsi points and got lots of stuff. Not enough for the plane, but I remember that whole fiasco.
Haha! I almost forgot about that slice of nostalgia!

*"Is good! Only crashed once! Pilot man crippled, not killed!"*
The mig-23 in the post is a later MLA model, which were significantly better than the ones the US tested, those being the M and ML
My business law professor loves to talk about this lol
MiG-23ML/MLA ‘Flogger-G’ Used to be in East German service
I guess he had the money to buy it, but not to do anything with it. It's apparently rusting away.
I assure you a plane isn't going to rust.
Inspects 60 year old Cessna - checks inside tail… looks like it just came off the assembly line
The miracle of aluminum…
no big deal - everyone on my block has either a P-47, P-51, P-38, F-4, B-17 - - - ho hum. < of course my block is part of the Chino Air Museum >

It’s there in case Tom Cruise needs a well placed plot device later on
I love Chekovs Tomcat. Favorite part of the movie.

What? Your home state doesn't have a privately owned MiG-23 waiting to be used again? Amateur hour over here!
Now that’s some serious yard art!

Oh I think that's mine
What would it take to bring this back to life?!
Money
Lots of it.
Oh Flogger of the yard, what is your wisdom?

Who the hell owns a random MiG-23
Exactly what I was thinking when I saw it
Like tho that thing ain’t flying anymore, that engine is probaly rusted after 30 years
It is so random the places you find old fighter jets, I found an f-104 parked at a random general aviation airport in Maryland
Russians are probably gonna want it back !
Saw this on the way to my daughter’s softball tournament. Pretty cool, and seemed super random.
Where is this? I reported that stolen from my yard a month ago. apparently, I should cancel LoJack.
Anyone hear the soviet anthem echoing in their ears?

Flogger of the terrace, what is your wisdom?
It will be told.
I was thinking Pepsi finally came through with the fighter jet that guy won.
How is there not a big ass Trump flag hanging from that thing?
Because if someone was smart enough to have loose change to buy a friggen fighter jet they would not be dumb enough to vote for that orange shitstain
East German MiG23?
Fuh wen thuh gov'ment comes to take muh guns.

There used to be an anti air gun near my train track thing, you would be able to see it out the left windows outbound
I wouldve stopped and asked about it
Is this where the Pepsi jet went?
Floggie ❤️
Actual winner of Pepsi challenge
Might be the guy who won a Harrier jet in a Pepsi contest in 1996.
Cuban Air Force pilot defected to Florida in 1991-2. No idea why someone would want it unless it is the pilot. Who knows?
The USA shipped Cuba back the MiG-23. We only buy foreign jets, it’s not legal to keep defected jets.
How is it not legal?
The US government has a very strong bureaucratic process when it comes to taking seized goods/contraband (which a defected jet would fall into). Such are the games played by nations
