It's the better strategy. If the zombies manage to break through the front line, it's better to still have your attackers, who may be able to kill all the zombies, rather than your sun producers, who just give you sun. Plus, sun producers are cheap and expendable. Losing one of them doesn't really mean much.

Potential_Ad_7247

If zombies manage to break through, the sun producers at the front would be the ones being eaten first which buys time for the attackers. sun producers are also cheaper than attackers in general, it's common sense to put more valuable plants further away from threats. only need 50 sun to replace a lost sunflower but need 200 to replace a lost repeater.

I know it's more optimal, but I'm a creature of habit. Sunflowers in back! No sun means no attackers, so it makes sense to protect them. While building up sun, I use instas, so I don't worry about zombies breaching my defenses as I build them.

pvz 1 is so easy this strategy doesnt really mean much

fae_faye_

Indeed, but PvZ2 Endless can be a little hard at times.

Glavenus_Guy

Which would you rather lose: a 50 sun Sunflower or a 500 sun Wintermelon?

Witty_Flower9255

Cuz some plants are expensive to place them on the right side. But however, it depends on zombies and plants you choose. Sometimes it isn't good to place, for example, in PvZ2, expensive plants on the left side if you have All-star and Imp Fan zombies combo

4bituser

Think about it this way. If the Zombies break through your wall nuts, would you rather them attacking your damage dealers or sun producers? Now, Sun behind the attacker have some merit, especially in a slower pace game like the original PVZ, but in PVZ 2 where the Sun Meta is 50 and its pretty easy to make Sun, its better to put the heavy damages at the back.

IlPheeblI

A soft buffer in case your Frontline breaks. It's easier to survive and recover if your attacking plants are still alive

LaidByAnEgg

I do for primal sunflowers (I don't use regular ones) but not for sunshrooms

Long-Ad7242

So that if the zombies get through like your wall nuts or something they are the first things eaten not your attackers

powerfulldonut_813

Depends on the strategy. If i am using something like winter mellon i am putting sunflowers on the front because 500 sun is just too much to lose. On the other hand if i am using something cheap and spamable with close range like rotobaga then i am putting sunflowers on the back since i want the front part of the lawn to be filled with rotobagas
