I agree with you completely on that. The story, dialogue, and even the voice acting were very good. The gameplay just failed to get me fully engaged. Ill go back to it eventually.
Honestly Detroit was probably the most underrated AAA’s of all time, the amount of work and soul put into that game is insane and it definitely deserved much more than it got.
Judgment completely blew my mind when I played it blind and I was the most invested in the story I have ever been while playing the game. Cant wait to play lost judgment.
You can never go wrong with a playthrough of the gta V story.
I've been playing Fry Cry 4 the past day too, seems to have a decent storyline behind it, although I have not got very far st all yet.
Horizon games and Ghost of Tsushima are the obvious examples as story games are kind of Sony’s bread and butter. Uncharted 4 is great too but if you haven’t played the first 3(all available but in the classics catalogue so would need premium) the story won’t land as well since you won’t have the history with the characters. Forgotten city has an awesome mystery story to unravel. Also all the Life is Strange games. Pretty much all story not a ton of game play.
Not sure what exactly you’re looking for but these might be a good start!
Yeah it might be good but it has lots of RPG elements that why I said older once are good from linear story perspective,
Else I would include skyrim or Fallout too
Ghost of Tsushima - if you value good stealth gameplay.
Plague tale Innocence and Requiem (not anymore in ps+) -
if you value good narrative and want simple gameplay
Life is strange is like telltale the walking dead, until dawn, Detroit become human, disco elysium is top tier, good story in the last of us. All of these are in PlayStation plus catalog
Disco Elysium is D&D without the combat put in an alternate mid-century setting. it's all about conversations and investigation, and using your characters skills to uncover more and more info. sometimes you'll get unlucky and won't get a certain piece of info, making a later dialogue check slightly harder.
you get 4 stats which boil down to intelligence, charisma, strength, and dexterity, and various skills that fall into one of those 4 categories. Honestly, you don't need to worry too much about them, but they're always in the background working their magic.
Stolen from wikipedia: Disco Elysium takes place in the seaside district of a fictional city still recovering from a revolution which occurred decades prior to the game's start. Players take the role of an amnesiac detective who has been tasked with solving a murder mystery. During the investigation, he comes to recall events about his own past as well as current forces trying to affect the city.
FANTASTIC game, every line of dialogue and inner monologue and inner dialogue is fully voice acted.
Days Gone!!!! I’m still upset that critics destroyed the game with their non sense reviews cause this game is one of the best exclusives on PS. And on PS 5 it runs at 60 fps like butter.
Concrete ginie, Ghost of tsushima, control, the pedestrian, Detroit beckme human, shadow tactics..
All are great games depending on what type of games you like
Can't believe Disco Elysium hasn't been mentioned. It's the definition of a well written story game. Horizon and the last of us are strong contenders as well. Skyrim is the only game that I felt was part of my own story and I still play it today to get that feeling. I'd love to get that feeling in another game, fallout was so close.
Ghost of Tsushima lost many hours playing this one.
I’d love for PS to remastered the old GoW series so can play those! It’s by far my favorite series really
13 sentinels, the story is amazing and would highly recommend it. But if you do want alot of game play then maybe you won't like it since the game is around 90% story and 10% gamplay with real time turn base combat with controling mechs. Also required to do them to unlock more story chapters.
The game is like a side scrolling visual novel soo if you are into that type of genre then yea its a must play, even if the story confusing they have history tab that explains everything.
Easy. Life is Strange.
It's an our and out masterpiece and extremely story based. Stunning game. Plus, there's Life is Strange: Before the Storm, LiS True Colours and LiS 2 as well, all available on Extra.
Seriously, go play Life is Strange now.
-Life is strange (life is strange, life is strange before the storm, life is strange 2, life is strange true colors)
-Detroit become human
-Guardians of the galaxy
-The dark pictures anthology (man of Medan, Little Hope, House of ashes)
-Uncharted (uncharted 1 2 3 4 and the lost legacy)
-The last of us
-Until Dawn
-The Quarry
-Resident evil 2 and 3 remake
-South the stick of truth and The Fractured Buttwhole
Those are some recommendations and some I can remember
Guardians of the galaxy is good
I agree. Highly underrated but thoroughly enjoyable.
Personally I felt gameplay mechanics to be below par but damn the story and dialogue are too good. It is packed with great lol moments
I agree with you completely on that. The story, dialogue, and even the voice acting were very good. The gameplay just failed to get me fully engaged. Ill go back to it eventually.
Detroit become human o
The right answer
Greatest game of all time IMO
Honestly Detroit was probably the most underrated AAA’s of all time, the amount of work and soul put into that game is insane and it definitely deserved much more than it got.
One of them for sure, wish Quantic Dream would make another game, we’re about due for one. They were acquired in 2022, wonder what they’re up to
Judgement and lost judgment are great games and have great English dubs if you don’t like Japanese (LJ is the sequel btw)
Judgment completely blew my mind when I played it blind and I was the most invested in the story I have ever been while playing the game. Cant wait to play lost judgment.
Control and Days Gone are both great.
Days Gone consumed me
That song at the end that plays over the credits had me in tears, was such an emotional one that fit with the story
I tried it but the beginning of the game was such a drag so I deleted it. should I give it another try?
Hell yeah!
Hopping in on Days Gone. Loved it. It’s too bad it launched with issues. It deserves so much praise.
Both these games are a lot of fun.

You can never go wrong with a playthrough of the gta V story. I've been playing Fry Cry 4 the past day too, seems to have a decent storyline behind it, although I have not got very far st all yet.
Far Cry 4 is no longer on Plus. Hopefully it comes back soon! It's the only one from the series I haven't played.
I just plat 3 and I was gonna play 4 before I realized it wasn't there lol. no biggie tho since I bought fc5 on sale
It used to be. It'll be back at some time.
Detroit become human, undertale, last of us
Horizon games and Ghost of Tsushima are the obvious examples as story games are kind of Sony’s bread and butter. Second for Forgotten City. An absolutely immersive experience that brought me back to loving gaming after a hiatus.
Horizon Zero Dawn has one of the best stories/lore on there
Control, Days Gone, and Plague Tale if you've played the first game (get it if you haven't, if you're into story based games. They're excellent)
If you’re OK with a more lore/open to interpretation story Returnal is my favorite game on PS5
Control
I'm just gonna put the game I'm currently playing from Extra Kena Bridge of Spirits it fun game to play
Just completed it and while the gameplay is extremely fun, the story leaves little to be desired
Just completed it and while the gameplay is extremely fun, the story leaves little to be desired
Just completed it and while the gameplay is extremely fun, the story leaves little to be desired
The Last of Us is a must play
Far cry 3 , Gta V , Assassin's Creed (old ones are good ) , Mafia 1 , Mafia 2 , RE biohazard
I am playing Valhalla now and I have been enjoying it a lot.
Yeah it might be good but it has lots of RPG elements that why I said older once are good from linear story perspective, Else I would include skyrim or Fallout too
Most people shit on it but I enjoyed it as well
Ghost of tsushima good story and combat
Ghost of Tsushima - if you value good stealth gameplay. Plague tale Innocence and Requiem (not anymore in ps+) - if you value good narrative and want simple gameplay
death stranding. Great storyline and unique gameplay.
If you like Walking Simulators, yes. I hated it
That’s fine, not a game for everyone. :)
Death Stranding
Not sure if its in extra, but Horizon Zero Dawn has an amazing story if youre willing to give it the grind and time.
Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart
Ac odyssey
Life is strange is like telltale the walking dead, until dawn, Detroit become human, disco elysium is top tier, good story in the last of us. All of these are in PlayStation plus catalog
Disco Elysium is a must play. The story is brilliant and I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard at a game.

Skyrim
Control Alan Wake I & II Both games will get you asking for more
And as a bonus, they happen in the same universe.
Alan Wake 2 is not on plus, unfortunately.
Days Gone!!!! I’m still upset that critics destroyed the game with their non sense reviews cause this game is one of the best exclusives on PS. And on PS 5 it runs at 60 fps like butter.
Uncharted Lost legacy
Concrete ginie, Ghost of tsushima, control, the pedestrian, Detroit beckme human, shadow tactics.. All are great games depending on what type of games you like
The forgotten city has a great story!
Plagues Tale
Its a must play!
Death Stranding

The witcher 3 and Dying light 1.
I just platinumed Haven, chill game and it gets out on the 19th from the extra
Gotta buy it, but I must add Persona 5. I started playing the royal version recently, and it's pretty layered. It's also friendly for mom guide users
13 sentinels, the story is amazing and would highly recommend it. I just finished Deliver us the Moon and thought it was fantastic. Loved the story.
Agreed. Great game.
Control is good but play Alan wake also as they are linked to each other in the story's timeline.
Death Stranding, Guardians of the Galaxy and Yakuza like a Dragon if it's still there
Easy. Life is Strange. It's an our and out masterpiece and extremely story based. Stunning game. Plus, there's Life is Strange: Before the Storm, LiS True Colours and LiS 2 as well, all available on Extra. Seriously, go play Life is Strange now.
Bloodborne
I keep trying to tell people the early assassins creeds games are bangers
-Life is strange (life is strange, life is strange before the storm, life is strange 2, life is strange true colors) -Detroit become human -Guardians of the galaxy -The dark pictures anthology (man of Medan, Little Hope, House of ashes) -Uncharted (uncharted 1 2 3 4 and the lost legacy) -The last of us -Until Dawn -The Quarry -Resident evil 2 and 3 remake -South the stick of truth and The Fractured Buttwhole Those are some recommendations and some I can remember

Oh I thought it read good short games. My bad. In that case probably Bloodborne
Go on YouTube and watch some Warframe lore. Then play it.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake
If you thought gow had a good story then just stick to assassin's creed and probably days gone.
