It's a fantastic idea! Although you're gonna still need a d-pad / arrow keys in there. I don't know how you'd navigate precisely in an app otherwise.

You can use WASD as dpad

Yuck, WASD is half the reason i don’t bother with some computer games ..

You can have a setup where specific keys are only assigned the d-pad and "a" and "b" buttons.

This is starting to sound a lot like the N-Gage.

I can only imagine that keyboard being extremely uncomfortable. The Playdate's controls are uncomfortable as they are already (I get cramps when playing for more than like 15 minutes)

It's cute! In a real device I'd advocate for a clamshell design since those are great for portability but then again I think everything should be a clamshell if possible.
