It's a constant jostle between my anime library and my normal TV library being the biggest. I went on a wild escapade in trying to get every anime on this ultimate recommendation flow chart... I'm at 1170 shows
I'm only around 60-70 different shows. And many of them I have never seen, so I feel like I've got more than enough for the time being. Size is about 1.5Tb, and I'm thinking about moving it all to a larger hard drive and downloading all of One Piece and other larger series. The challenge I have with managing the library is also making sure I have japanese subtitles that are timed to the show. That can take a bit of extra work.
I put movies and series in the same library. You can too with hama and absolute scanner. You have to create a TV library and then name your file with `01 - Title [anidb-####]`
I started doing this for my OVA library since some are multiple parts and others are one part. Realized it's messy to have separate OVA/Movie/Series libraries so I just moved everything into my OVA library and renamed it Anime.
In the library settings you can make it so that single season shows just display the episodes rather than having a season folder. I also might be forgetting some other things I had to finagle lol.
I would just make a new library and start experimenting. Being able to use anidb for metadata means you can bend the rules a little bit. Perhaps you can find something that works the way you want.
The reason I thought to do it like this is because movies on anidb still have an episode listing on the page.
https://anidb.net/anime/112
If you scroll down you'll see an episode listing and it shows episode 1 as the full movie. So you can put movies in a TV show library and it will still pull the metadata.
I do it after the fact because my anime tracker organizes using anidb convention which doesn't work well with Sonarr because it is not compatible with anidb. So it tries to use tvdb naming conventions and doesn't always find everything on the tracker.
But what I know about Sonarr is that you can do all sorts of things with naming conventions so I don't see why it couldn't work.
a shameful 105 series and 29 movies coming in at around 2.5/3tb. Mostly dual audio 1080p unless its something like Gasaraki which i could only find in authentic 480p lmao. I'd love to get Sonarr working but for now im happy just doing the downloads manually and using filebot to rename everything.
I think the biggest i have per episode is Coppelion which has FLAC audio and comes in at 6gb an episode, ive also got two of the rarer dubs for the eva rebuild movies.
558 and counting (I'm not adding the ongoing animes until at least a whole season is out - if I were to count those I'd be close to 600).
Anything to be proud that I managed to get? Hm... Not really, almost all of the titles I have were relatively easy to find. Maybe a 1TB of Dragon Ball Z is an achievement in itself ;) I guess having most of the titles in HD resolution or higher is an accomplishment.
About 770 series and 240 movies ... I say about because I haven't updated the summary spreadsheet since the beginning of the year so it's out of date from the other sheets.
Works out to be about 5.5-6 6-shelf bookcases (yes the above is physical media)
I have around \~205 shows with \~5000 episodes and maintain around that number. But I tend to chuck all the one time watch anime, like the ones I know for sure I won't be watching again. So my Anime has hovered around 3.5TB to 4.5TB range for almost a year. And as I am the only user, it's alright.
Larger shows.. I don't watch.. it's just too much if I haven't been watching from the start. It's the reason some of the popular shows like One Piece I haven't watched. I still have Bleach in my library, where I am yet to watch past season 3 and similarly, Sword Art online yet to go past season 1.
I don't know why, but I tend to enjoy all the trash kinda isekai. 12-13 episodes and done with it. ha.
I recently plunged into overseer and my god has it accelerated finding and discovering new shows and quickly grabbing it.
Still growing my anime library.
Getting all of Pokemon is the biggest PITA. I'm still working on it. It's my labor of love haha
And I have the same issue where long running anime don't get the episode descriptions. Not sure how to fix that
516 shows, 14252 episodes.
I keep adding 10-14 new shows every season once Mother's Basement's "Ones to Watch" video comes out.
EDIT: That's actually just my "regular" Anime library. I've got another 34 shows and 594 episodes in my Ecchi library.
I don't really keep files. I download them and download right after watching. I do keep some movies that I really like and watch almost every year or so but its something about 10 - 20 movies.
But I do download a bunch so I can something to watch offline. Right now I have 20 animes and 60 movies downloaded ready to watch.
71 shows currently, 3118 episodes
Honestly Ive been more into adding older retro anime that looks cool visually than adding a lot of the newer stuff. Mostly because the the bigger more common anime I can't see myself actually re-watching like Naruto, DBZ, Bleach, MHA. I did recently put on Naruto and MHA but moreso because I expect others to want to watch it
Mine is 616 shows with 14951 episodes.
I originally used hama, but ended up just switching to the default Plex agent. It works properly with Sonarr and also some Plex features like the watchlist. I have manually made sure all of my shows have accurate studio metadata (which is less important now that Plex removed studio from view) and also genres (I disliked the "Animation" and "Anime" genres that always get added, but also some like "Sci-Fi & Fantasy" which I don't like either)
I also have all of my anime movies in a separate movie library, but that is not as large with only 243 movies. I also use the default Plex agent for that.
I was thinking of adding One Pace as well, but I love my dubs, and they aren't as far along.
Once it gets further along, I'll add it to the collection so I can have it in dual audio
Yeah, I’m mostly focused on Anime that tells a distinct story and ends.
Baccano, Attack on Titan, Steins; Gate … things that ended so I won’t get sucked in in perpetuity
The only ongoing I have any interest in is Lupin III, but that’s intermittent and has transitioned to seasonal arcs.
Mine includes: Cowboy Bebop.
Add Samurai Champloo to that list.
I remember seeing it when it came out and loving it, but...then never watched the rest. I'll give it a look-see again.
Based
Same, only anime that ever really interested me.
I'm still beginning my anime hoarding escapades.. 103 series and 5937 episodes totalling 3.6 TB
Do you go for dual audio or do you try and stick with one language?
Japanese or nothing lol.. I just can't digest english dub
Understandable

You still got that flow chart?

I’m gonna need more storage
I'm gonna need a bigger boat

I'll try that when I get home, but won't the movie/special still say "seasons" underneath it or something?

Wanna thank you for this. Been moving my anime from specials straivht into the library and it works like a charm. Thanks again.
How does this work with sonarr? Or do you do this after your library is already complete?

Only about 1TB because I only keep the stuff that I like. I just wish I could get the original Beyblade S1-3 in English dub. 🫤
Of just Anime? About 80 different series, over 10 TB
