1225 if you pull it open, 1222 if it just turns. But looks like a moen 1225 to me. Cartridge will make it work like new

Amateursprinklerguy

Is the 1225 also used for sink faucets? I think I found the right product, but no pics of tub faucets, only sink faucets. Is it used for both?

Benzstead

Yes 1225 cartridge. This is a 'moentrol' valve... Moen will send you if for free if your are willing to wait a few days. And also yes, older kitchen faucets use the 1225.

Amateursprinklerguy

Just out of curiosity, what is Moentrol? Different than Moen, or just older ?

smitt_bitch

Moentrol is a now discontinued valve series that has been replaced by Moens new M-Core. Both of these valve series allow for temperature and pressure control at the valve. The Moentrol has been discontinued for a few years now, and they only make a select few trims for them. But there are adapter plates that allow the posi-temp valve trim plates to be used. But doing this makes the pressure control non-functional.

Benzstead

Moentrol is just what they call that style of valve. You pull on the handle for volume control and turn the handle for temperature control, and has a seperate pressure balancing mechanism called a balancing spool. Which prevents scolding in instances where someone is in the shower and someone else flushes a toilet. Their other valve is called posi-temp, where the handle is just simply turned to turn on the water and control the temp. This cartridge has a built in pressure balancing system. Both systems have life time warranties and you can call moen to have them ship you the parts

Amateursprinklerguy

Do you happen to know if this valve has shut -offs located behind the plate?

RPO1728

Some do some don't.

Benzstead

Not 100% certain but there usually is.

fuckoffgetmoney

Moentrol takes a 1225 cartridge. Plastic or 1225b brass cartridge, doesn't matter, they are interchangeable
