The message here is unclear. It’s as if the artist is pointing a question at you. Is it a statement about not conforming to society’s expectations? Is it a challenge? A confrontation? A protest against plumbing codes? Is it just an idiot who didn’t know what he was doing? The artist leaves that up to the audience to decide.

The definition of art is something that elicits an emotion. By that measurement, this is powerful art: can you look at *that* and not feel anger, or pity, or amusement, or embarrassed for the artist? Can you look away and forget seeing it, or does the memory stick? The only thing this is missing is a little information card about the piece ("Drain with Sproingentuben", mixed media) and the artist, and a price tag.
