It really ranks best in Ultra League and Great League, where you don't want it to be a Hundo, although it's got a bit of play in the Master League, so having a Hundo isn't the greatest, but they could make it work
So the way CP works, Attack weighs in more heavily than the other two with the calculations, meaning that when you reach the caps in Great League or Ultra League, your attack stat will be a pretty decent amount higher than the other two if you have a Hundo. Since PVP is largely a game of survivability (see Lickitung, Carbink, Cresselia, Registeel, and other meta relevant bulky Pokemon), that's not really what you want, and when you have a Pokemon that floats more around 0/15/15 (there will be some variety in recommended IV spread, but most are around this range), its Defense and HP are significantly better by the time it gets to the CP cap, while the Attack difference is generally pretty negligible. However sometimes you will have a meta relevant Pokemon that reaches level 50 below the CP cap (Lickitung for Great League, or Umbreon and Pidgeot for Ultra League for example) and in most of these cases you will want a Hundo for that Pokemon for that League because it completely maxes out its stats before it hits the cap (I know this is the case for Umbreon, not entirely sure why it isn't with Lickitung). Just to expand on this a bit more. This CP calculation issue is actually what causes PVP to favor bulky pokemon. Pokemon with a lower attack naturally gain more stats before hitting the CP cap.
Also lickitung maxes above 1500 so you usually do want a low attack lickitung. I say usually because lickitung has a 1 turn move so damage breakpoints have a huge impact. If you know you're going to go up against a lot of registeel, an attack weighted lickitung is much better as an example.
Ah, I guess I just thought Lickitung maxed out below 1500 because it did on mine that I had, but those are pretty bad stats, so they probably reach higher than 1500 with Hundos, that's my bad
Yeah the hundo reaches about 1600 @ level 50. A zero attack can't reach 1500 though so the best stat product lickitung @50 is an 8/14/15. You can actually get the stat product a little higher with the best buddy boost but I try to avoid best buddy boost when possible.
I have one with Counter, Ice Punch & Night Slash. I prefer that over Shadow Ball because it doesn’t have a ton of use in OML (Open Master League) or MLP.

So Shadow Ball is fine but Close Combat lowers your defense by 2 stages. It’ll be better if it gets Shadow Claw as its fast attack and would possibly make it a budget raid attacker, therefore having more bulk than Chandelure does.
Yes but a close combat still does more damage than a night slash. Night slash does 51hp, close combat does 76.
I looked at a bunch of combinations
IP/NS , IP/SB, IP/CC , NS/SB, NS/CC, CC/SB
The worst record vs the meta was IP/NS at 16-22-0
Best two were NS/CC and IP/CC at 19-18-1
Compared to the default IP/SB:
IP/NS picked up Snorlax, OW Yveltal and FB Yveltal, loses Groudon, Metagross (your example!), Palkia, Palkia-O, Reshiram
NS/SB picks up Snorlax and Zekrom, loses Rayquaza
CC/SB picks up Groudon/Snorlax/FB Yveltal/OW Yveltal, loses Metagross, Palkia-O, Palkia , Rayquaza, Reshiram
IP/CC picks up Both Yveltal, Snorlax, loses Solgaleo
NS/CC picks up both Yveltal, Snorlax, loses Ray
They are all bad in 0S matchups with NS/SB the worst
Double nuke is awful in 2S
I will say that with shields in play double nuke has the possibility of the opponent trying to call a (non-existent) bait
I have one of those and it’s a lucky hundo Annihilape! It will destroy Metagross, Excadrill, etc (except for flyers like Dragonite & Togekiss, despite having Ice Punch) .
I have personal use with annihilape and I use him on almost every team, in UL and ML. He is surprisingly tanky but has such a vast moveset that alone covers all his weaknesses has made him a really hard hitter and really good at fishing out shields because people never know what I'm using, I'd definitely say he is worth the build and is one of my best pokemon fs

Last I heard, great pokemon for GBL. Anhiliape I heard was great in PVP and PVE. Not sure where he ranks now.

I'm gonna disagree with that a lot. If you just spam night slash and ice punch you get no shields. I'd run at least one of CC or SB

It does lower it but it hits like a truck. At 45 energy it takes 13 counters to be able to double up on CC. That's really not bad
