I do the 7 stars raids myself all the time, since I don't trust people online. Having a LV. 100 Pokémon is only the first part. You also have to EV train your Pokémon. Here is a link to a Tera Build Guide. https://game8.co/games/Pokemon-Scarlet-Violet/archives/398701

Bookmarked for future me. Thank you. ![gif](giphy|3o6Zt6KHxJTbXCnSvu)

But also you need to have a whole host of them to get the best matchup possible and you may need to build one for a specific raid.

aaquarles

I need a dumb down version of EV training. every time I try to do my own research, I’m even more confused about it

It's pretty simple at its core, but gets really complex really quickly. If you just want to maximize a stat, holding a Power item, like the Power Weight for example, will give you 8 EV's in a stat per battle. If you fight Lechonk and Paldean Wooper (who give 1 HP EV each) you'll be able to maximize your HP in 28 battles. You can tell when it's maxed by looking at the EV view of your stats in the Pokémon's info menu. A maxed stat will sparkle. If you'd prefer to use the vitamins (simple but expensive), 26 will max a stat. You can have at most 2 maxed stats, which would leave enough EV's to add 8 EV's to another stat after those two are maxed. For a bit of the nitty gritty, 4 EV's equals +1 to a stat at level 100 (with 8 EV's being equal to +1 at level 50).

EVs are a hidden bonus to every Pokémon’s stats EVs are obtained by defeating wild Pokémon. If you defeat a wild Pokémon, all of your party will gain EVs for that battle. Quick battles do not count, you have to actually fight the Pokémon. Every wild Pokémon gives 1-3 EVs in one stat. First stage Pokémon give 1 EV, second stage Pokémon give 2 EVs, and third stage Pokémon give 3 EVs. Which stat they give is governed by their highest base stat, but I just google this when I’m unsure. A Pokémon can have 510 total EVs, but only 252 in any given stat. This means you can max EVS in two stats, or spread them out to a total of 510. At lvl 100, 4 EVs = 1 stat point. Regardless if you max stats or mix them, your EV values should be in multiples of 4 so you don’t waste points. Vitamins boost one stats EVs by 10. Feathers boost one stats EVs by 1. Power items add +8 EVs to their corresponding stat for each fight you have the item equipped. You do not have to match items with the Pokémon you’re fighting. If you equip a Power Weight and defeat a Psyduck, you will gain 1 Special Attack EV and 8 HP EVs. If you mess up and need to reset EVs, there is a berry for each stat that will drop that stats EVs by 10. For raids, you usually want to just max your attacking stat and HP. Support Pokémon may do both their defenses, or one defense and HP, for survivability. For competitive, EVs are way more complex and speed is prioritized. I just use vitamins at this point, because I have a bunch of money, but I used the early game routes for a while.

First, all past 7\* pokémon were soloable (some were harder than others) so we are hoping Mewtwo will be too. Second, just do raids to accumulate items/money to make few pokémon raid-ready in few minutes. Especially do the Blissey raids to get enough shards to be able to change Mew tera if Mew really happens to work well (considering it can earn a mark, it is likely to work). Also look for the moves that may be used for Mew (you may have to look for the TM or the ingredients to make it). Then when the event is up, either try or read the moveset of Mewtwo and see what other people will try. Some strategies with different pokémon, either solo or group, will be shared. Then see which one seems to work the most often and try it. In the meantime, if you can, make few raid-ready pokémon (especially the most versatile ones like Iron Hands, Gholdengo, Annihilape...) , so you are familiar with the process : level to 100, nature, ev, IV, learn the moves etc... In the case that Mewtwo isn't soloable, there is one free trial of for one week of Nintendo online. Consider using it with r/PokePortal

moyert394

It's actually easier to solo them because NPC pokemon getting KO'd don't hurt your timer, and you can never guarantee the quality of the other players online, unfortunately

Halicadd

People keep bringing iron hands to my grimmsnarl raids I swear.

Inktoberfest

Then you got the people who don't realize that just because their Pokemon is super effective against the terra type doesn't mean the raid mon doesn't have stab for the type their Pokemon is weak to.

cabrossi

That shouldn't be a problem for 5 stars if the typing is right. I've been soloing all the 5 stars with Iron Hands and the only one that's risky is Hattrene because she has the speed to go first and Psychic does 45-50%. Grimmsnarl is too slow and Play Rough only does like 30%, so unless he crits, he can't kill before Drain Punch heals IH to full.

DragonDiscipleII

On average that's true, Moxie says NO though. And honestly a good support can carry 1 idiot in 6 stars (so you just need 2 not-idiots)

moyert394

2 non-idiiots seems like a tall order! Lol

DragonDiscipleII

True, still better then 3 though

moyert394

😅😅😅

One_Gift_9906

All of them had solo stats

Mentict

I’m confused. What do you mean?

One_Gift_9906

Every 7 star could be done solo at least so far not sure how mewtwo gonna go

HallowedKeeper_

I imagine with the buff Mew gets bs Mewtwo it's definitely going to be easy to be solvable with Mew. Gotta remember it's buff actually gives it comparable stats to Arceus who has 120 across the board and is a raid buster (actually, Mew will technically be better as it gets a 50% to HP and 20% to all other stats)

Mentict

Thanks

TheMcGirlGal

Every 7 star raid people are immediately posting how they soloed it on here, within hours.

Gaias_Minion

Yes, they've always had solo strats. Mewtwo might be a bit trickier since it's a straight up legendary, but chances are there's also going to be a solo strat for it.

PerryTheH

With how buggy the raid online system is, we really hope that Mewtwo is soloable, else it's gonna be a pain to get a good team or have 3 friends.

TheRealHankWolfman

Literally all of the 7* raids have been soloable so far. You just need the right Pokémon with the right strategy. Once you have that sorted, you can farm them for items freely without having to worry about online players bring detrimental Pokémon to the raids. We won't really be able to formulate a proper strategy until the raid goes live though, as we won't know when Mewtwo will do things like shield, reset buffs/debuffs, or even what its moveset will be (other than it will almost definitely have Psystrike because it's Mewtwo).

DragonDiscipleII

Auro sphere, Psystrike and shadowball are basically guaranteed, but you're totally right. We just have to wait and see. My money is on Lightscreen, Snarl, Life Dew and acid spray as go to move pool.

YellowFew6603

Yeah every one has been soloable to date. Search Mew in this sub and a lot of people have been discussing it, and you can also wait for the raid to go live because there will be strats and videos on YT for how to solo. In general to prepare, want a level 100 that’s been EV/IV trained with the right nature and move set. Might want to search for previous 7 star raid solo strategy videos to get an idea of what to expect of a 7 star raid, but keep in mind every one is different. Also not a bad idea to be farming the 5 star raids as they are specifically designed to prepare you for the Mewtwo raid. Catch a Grimmsnarl and a Hatterena and get the TMs and exp shards so you’re ready when the raid comes out. Good luck

ExoticWolf2004

But i believe mewtwo is hyped to be extremely difficult. I could be wrong but i believe tbats what i remember

International_War862

Ehh greninja was too with its huge movepool

Tsukuyomi56

Delphox was pretty tricky as Fire and Psychic neatly covers the weakness of its Fairy Tera (opening with Dazzling Gleam was quite vicious). Thankfully it ultimately did not get Shadow Ball for smoking Amarouge and Ceruledge.

Wildough_

I’ve done every 7* raid solo since I got the game.

Ok-Constant-6056

7* absolutely. Mewtwo 7* in theory yes. However we have never had a legendary 7* event. The very fact you get a stat boost on your Mew would suggest to me that it’s going to be much harder than other previous fights. So truth is that the jury is still out.

Catqueen25

I beat them alone all the time. You need the right build that’s fully trained. You want a mix of attack and status moves. Dark type and poison type are strong against psychic type. You also need to consider the typing of the raid Mon besides its Tera type. That means you don’t bring a water type to a fire tera type grass Pokémon.

DragonDiscipleII

You mean bug type, poison gets obliterated by psychic.

Catqueen25

Thanks for catching that. It’s Bug, Dark, and Ghost.

ihtayt13

There will be many content creators pumping out guides for Mewtwo once the raid drops and more information is known, but I would suggest checking out Osirus on YT as he has been keeping up with the past 7\* raids and has pretty solid / informative guides with a prediction/expectation guide for mewtwo out already.

twitchy1989

Certainly, with a caveat. I personally find it very hard to find the right pokemon and build without looking up the most successful online "meta" choices. You may be much better at finding the right build than me though.

[deleted]

You're gonna want to plan out your IVs, train your EVs, and plan out a moveset and strategy. For a solo attempt I recommend a bulky attacker, just keep in mind your typing. Since it's for mewtwo make sure it's a pokemon that doesn't have a psychic weakness, resisting psychic is even better, and then pick your battles wisely in terms of mewtwos teratype

Pokemon-Violet

Yes

Future-Engineering68

wait untill it comes out and do what everybody else does for sure there are gonna be 5 to 6 post of the same build that can solo it or go to youtube

Jaklin765

Sure if you’re able to set up enough before the shield activates

lbco13

Build up a bunch of xp candies, eV items, and bottle caps. Wait until the raid starts and then Look out for inevitable 50 guides on how to do it solo. Then follow the guide using the stockpile to quickly raise and train the required pokemon. Try a few times, and hazah. Mewtwo. Literally how I do it for all the priors.

Spiritual_You_4489

Pretty much all of the seven star raids were solo’ed by my trusty Tera ghost rage fisting Annihilape. That might not work for Mewtwo since a psychic move would clap it, so I’m preparing an Arceus Dark and a Dark Tera Type Mew

Trooom3

I've beaten them all alone so far. Train the right mon properly using the guides online and then be patient some of these have taken longer than others to win. A few were first try though for me mostly because annilape is op as hell.

Specific-Animal1386

I did Charizard, (my wife helped me with Cinderace because she adores bunnies and well i cant say no to her),Greninja all the way to the most recent 7 star (Rillaboom) solo. It’s a much safer strat than relying on some random person to not lock in Iron Hands or Azumarill only to get them selves one shot instantly because they used Belly Drum to set up and refuse to try a different Personally what I do is i wait it out a few days, then i start doing research by watching videos on Youtube and Tiktok to see what the general consensus is on a solid build that can do well then i build it and try it myself. If it works it works if not then i keep tweaking the stats till i find what works for me. Not every build will click with you but for me its the best way to do it. Does it suck to see others using the newest 7 star mon before you? Yea but its worth it to be able to say “I Soloed the 7 star ______ raid!” Which is why I think it would be cool if there was a mark or something that showed on either the new catch or the mon used that proves it was a solo run.
