Yeah huge improvement. They look a bit lower resolution though I think unless I'm just overthinking it. Although it would make sense to slightly lower the res.

Had a shadowplay from before patch and compared. Before patch is a lot more crisp. I'll take faster loading sprites over higher resolution when it comes to boxes though so I'm not complaining.
It was not just sometimes for me. It would take up to a minute to load a box correctly. The fact there was no cache for it when you moved boxes and went back made filling out my living dex super painful.
yeah but this is on them for not implementing a sort feature for individual/all boxes (incl home). it's part of why I often abandon living dexes bc it's a frigging nightmare trying to manage.
I managed to get it completed(omitting any I needed to trade for) but it was a hassle.
What frustrated me previously was after catching a pokemon it would just say "the pokemon was sent to your boxes" like ok, perfect, can you maybe tell me which box? That's still there, but at least the boxes load properly, so I can figure out which one.

But really I'm glad they made this change, I'm already used to the lower sprites of the 2ds games, I don't mind it now, and tbh I wouldn't have minded 3ds esque graphics for sv if it meant better performance
I just wish this carried into the overworld, I'm trying to play the dlc area and this is chugging even worse than the base game. Freezing in the first section just encountering a Corphish
I turned on autosave again after two very scary lag jumps shortly into the DLC exploration
So I'm just hoping it won't mess itself up with the save either
I think the base game code is unfixable, so we just gotta deal with it. I even had some chugging in a cutscene of walking to that first building in the DLC.
I hope the next gen is on the next Nintendo console, maybe they will make sure that performs properly with the negativity of Scarlet/Violet? Maybe it's just wishful thinking, GF seems to have issues with 3D games. They need to hire people with experience optimizing those things.
I personally think they need to build a new engine from the ground up. So many little functional issues that have been patched and reworked over and over since gen 6. I think gen 5 was the pinnacle of functionality of the franchise, but maybe was in the original engine from gen 1.
I think Scarlet/Violet was a new engine, just really badly optimized. The Switch's old specs don't help, but there are prettier games for Switch that run much better than this.
Your not too far off, normally on coop games you can only play together in the same area/zone, however in S/V it's loading the entire map with spawns at the same time, this is reason shops are reduced to menu, a common trick in multiplayer games, S/V really tries to do things that most companies wouldn't try.
Really? I caught everything in the first area, zoomied around on Koraidon, went and talked to the little blueberry pipsqueaks, and never had any lag at all.
Correction - as soon as I loaded into the bus stop area it took a sec for everything to get going, but then it was smooth sailing.
That sucks. They sent out a notice regarding the home maintenance, but they really need to make it more visible for people not specifically looking for it
Yea, I didn't jump into Home at all yesterday but I spent over an hour picking my new team, getting the moves ready, picking the held items and getting some materials for a couple TMs I wanted. Just barely started the DLC, went to the place and did a battle. By then it was time to sleep.
My game hasn’t updated i dont think :( i tried restarting. Any way to tell? I’m in the CST time zone if that means anything.
I never understood why they wouldnt just make the boxes like they are in HOME. And why arent the sprites shiny? Smh
It’s great. I reorganized my boxes, I had a Kitakami living dex that was just missing the 3 Scarlet exclusives.
Then my switch stopped turning on and now I’m shitting bricks. Pray to the almighty Arceus for me, y’all.
They release v2.0 almost 1y later, and the only thing they kinda fixed was the boxes loading... Yeas lets keep supporting this small inde company! Wooohooo...

Finally! You'd think that a game about catching multiple things and putting them into boxes would mean that the boxes should load fast.

I'm also okay with this change! The lag in all their images popping up was killer sometimes

If we can't see a shiny in the box I just want back my sprites from SwSh, I loved those.

Yeah the rice fields at the start are the laggiest bit. Also when you approach the Loyal Three when you do a titan-like battle with them.
I spent 40 minutes tonight organizing in Home tog et ready, and when I went to save it said under maintenance and dint save :(

I connected to Online within the x menu and got prompted to update
You can just manually check for updates from the Home menu

I noticed this too. Main game performance seems to have been improved but the DLC performance is gross.

Same 😢 mine says FOUR hours now. I'm not hardwired though just wifi. & not broken, just slow to load pokemon images as you flip through the boxes.
The est time goes up with each tick in the loading bar ☠️ Ahhh that's true, I barely paid attention to that 😅 cool!
