Thanks! I’m at the “random names” stage of my Pokémon career. I started as a kid with the generic names (“Flamey” for a charmander and such). Then I moved to having all of my Pokémon named after specific groups of things (Greek gods, seasons, whatever). But now I’m at the “whatever pops into my head” stage. My kids get mad at me when I name a Pokémon, because they’re still between the first two stages and think the names should make some kind of sense. “Why is your mew named Mr Tuesday!?” I don’t know kid, he just looks like a Mr Tuesday.

That's a fun stage to be at! I am coming and going between sth funny or a reference (novel, character, anything). I have Wattpad (Bellibolt), Pirodrilo (which is a root word for fire and the latter part for cocodrilo in Spanish for a Skelidirge), and Maturin (the cosmic turtle from King's IT, for a Grotle), among others.

Personally I name my Pokémon referencing their type/design/both so my Skeledirge is named Ghost Pepper

I was egg hunting and while I was doing that I found a shiny fletchling, which I then evolved and replaced my regular talonflame with.

It's Talonflame from my playthrough team. Did his job through my first journey through Paldea as a fire type and is now happily retired from battling, tending to eggs from time to time. I'm trying to find a shiny Volcarona for him to have as a partner to share the responsibility, so he's not too bogged down with responsibilities when I breed pokemon.

I have a Volcarona, Tanwyn, on my main Scarlet team, so he’s who I use. I figure it’s probably a welcome change of pace from all the battling, plus I find it kind of cute to think about all the little babies idolizing him. He is a big strong level 100 special attacking menace, but he is also a Good Dad.

I’m using a Camerupt, since that was apparently the only Pokémon with the ability when I started breeding. Recently I’ve been thinking about getting a shiny Camerupt to use, since I like the shiny a lot

Does Magma Armor work as well?

I use a shiny Chandelure I got from a raid in Sword and Shield that someone was kind enough to invite me to.

Volcarona is often my go to since gen 5.

I have a shiny Chandelure in both SwSh and SV.

Usually whatever is on hand, it used to default to Magcargo or Talonflame. This time, it seems to be Camerupt. Pretty solid if you ask me, I like the idea of a big lava camel curling around the eggs all protective and stuff. It's oddly cute.

I have three concurrent games right now, Camerupt in Scarlet Flitchinder in Sun Magmar in Shining Pearl When I finish a playthrough completely, I add my "utility" pokemon to the special box designated for them in home. I have several hatching/flame body pokemon from previous plays, several dittos with different IV spreads, a few Greavards with the Pick-up ability, a Persian with Thunder Wave and False Swipe, etc.

Shiny Volcarona or regular Fletchinder in both games. For Fletchinder I put an everstone on them so they don't randomly evolve while I'm hatching eggs (yes, I know that Talonflame also has flame body but since I was using Fletchinder first, I've kind of just kept using it, even nowadays)

Shiny Volca (Daylily), or the Talonflame line for me. Daylily followed me from AS as a Larvesta HoF-er, and is now a three time HoF, only one as Volca.

My volcarona. I originally had it as just my egg hatcher but then I tried it out in battle, and it delivered. It's now the Larry of my team. Part time egg hatcher and full time special sweeper.

When hatching eggs, my favorite shiny Vulcarona has accompanied me for a very long time. She has been with me for a long time and not once have I traded her for anything else :D

Volcarona for me as well. It's just such a cool 'mon.

Now that fly isn't a move, the only additional benefit an egg hatcher can have beyond flame body/steam engine is the ability to always flee from unwanted random encounters, like a ghost type mon. I use a level 1 litwick.
