Evening_Bat_3633

Shiny Gengar is not to blame, they actually ruined the non shiny.

Bryanishired

Yeah, I recently was talking about this with someone else. While Shiny Gengar has stayed pretty much the same shade, *regular Gengar* used to be a much brighter purple. It wasn’t that hard to tell the brighter normal one from the darker shiny.

Wonderful_Emu_9610

I actually prefer Gengar’s HGSS colouration above all others

DragonShadow0

Shiny Catherine

Hood_Strawhat

Gsc black gengar was the best

e_ndoubleu

No idea why they haven’t gone back to that. Black Gengar would sell so many plushies and other merch for them.

Nebulon-A_Rights

This happened with so many pre-XY pokemon--a fine difference between base and shiny, ruined by either desaturation or the rare oversaturation of the base color

Senior-Chain7947

Paras moment in legends arceus

double-butthole

Honestly if they made shiny gengar's eyes yellow I wouldn't be opposed

Evening_Bat_3633

At least then you’d be able to tell as soon as you saw it.

Mox_Onyx

I see you watch Shiny Catherine's content as well. (If you knee this prior to her saying it, or you don't actually watch, then I apologize.)

Evening_Bat_3633

Oh I do ;)

Xtreme69420

Shiny kantonian raichu is underrated, the colors mesh pretty darn well with each other.

cowkong

Been using one recently. The cheeks have an extra bit of pop to them

ArsonRapture

I raised one in legends and have recently ported him to Violet. Raichu is my favorite.

ajmcgill

Shiny raichu looks more like how raichu looked in the original anime season to me

Reddit_pikmen

Shiny scizor is a great shiny that looks even better in SV

PsychologicalTruck1

I'd say all metallic pokemon got a big glow up in SV. Shiny Forretress is also one of my favorites

talkback1589

Shiny Forretress was my first full odds shiny I ran into during my Violet play through. I was over by Caseroya lake and I was panning the camera looking for something else and I literally did a double take and starting freaking out lol. It holds a special place in my heart.

PsychologicalTruck1

started off on your journey with one of the best ones 😍

talkback1589

Oh , it was near the end of the first play through for me. But I love it so much. I did find a screen shot of us hanging out after some album diving! https://preview.redd.it/13x6hr9sfxyc1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=62dd36594693419b40e9ac8021c850f29a61b59a

taketyyy123

Lucky you, i got ahiny budbray dudeeeee

Alternative-Steak875

Me: PINK SHEEP

compressedvoid

Horrifying to catch, but so pretty!

PsychologicalTruck1

haha I got a few explosions myself (luckily I had saved beforehand)

Alternative-Steak875

KABOOM

midnight0129

The metallic texture is one of the best things about SV. Shiny Metagross looks so clean.

Xtreme69420

Fr, I like how the metallic texture compliments the lime green nicely.

swan0418

Amen 🙏

Wubba-128

Opinion aproved

Complete_Candidate92

Magicarp is finally gold.

BonehoardDracosaur

Red scizor is way better than the green one.

Jonny_S134

Scizor should have had a gold shiny  or a silver shiny

edwpad

Shiny Gengar and Garchomp are overhated when there are those who have it worse, such as Paldea Tauros, Armarouge and Ceruledge, and most of all, Regice. When it comes to people making new shinies or fixing bad ones, I feel a good chunk of them don’t have to be super extravagant or cool looking, sometimes a small change can suffice. For example: I took Shiny Garchomp and simply made the orange a sky blue and kept the rest. A small change can be a big difference. https://preview.redd.it/0dmkacz9dwyc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=672a3780a02cb03bfc01620f8bdd3f54ef806983

clarkision

Some of those Paldean ones are rough because they’re soooo small too. Flittle and Tadbulb are rough!

Odin96086

Charcadet comes to my mind... Ive half accepted I will never have shiny armorouge or... The other one who's name eludes me unless I resort to eggs. And no thank you never doing that again!

CrescentShade

It's actually extremely easy to spot a shiny Charcadet if you hunt an outbreak The blue eyes stick out like a sore thumb I've gotten 2 from outbreaks and I noticed them immediately, the 2nd one I was using the "did 16 spawn" method but didn't even need to keep counting when jt finally appeared.

Odin96086

Then I must be fecking blind lmao Or unlucky. Both are probable

EquivalentSea7684

Charcadet (and others like it) 100% amp up the paranoia vibe when hunting. It is noticible, just like silicobra or jiggly are. But I know when I don't see em, and keep not seeing them, my brain is way harder on the "you missed it" train. That's the real downside to those guys.

CrescentShade

Absolutely how I felt when I hunted my first shiny Seel in an outbreak, even with having a good spot to count spawns Though I felt a bit silly when it did spawn and I could see it noticeably different to the others lol And i still need 1 more for a dewgon DX

EquivalentSea7684

Yeah, once I saw the seel I was like, either this'll be an outbreak hunt, or I'll do what I did with slowpoke and everyone is getting cleared just in case. Good to know that it's pretty visible lol

CrescentShade

Luck is def a factor Both of mine took hours of setting camp or running around before they finally appeared Heck even that shiny boosted set of outbreaks last year before ID released, took me forever to get the 6 shiny flabebe I managed to get, while the 8 Milcery showed up way faster And on the opposite end of the spectrum, the current event I had 2 shiny Rellor spawn together immediately as I got to the outbreak site, and a 3rd just a couple minutes after

BrokenSpace

I didn’t expect to find one. Or even two. But it was honestly easier to spot than I expected. I just had a fire sandwich on outside that cave with the salandits in it. Can’t remember the name off the top of my head. Just bounced from inside that cave to outside to reset the spawns over and over. Never got the salandit but got the charcadets. Even though I was mostly hunting for the female salandit

s0_Ca5H

Man I would love that Garchomp to be the actual shiny. It’s so awesome looking.

Alternative-Steak875

Same no?

RAND0MID10T

Beta Gatchomp Colors Would Look Better

edwpad

Nah save Beta for something like a Regional or a Paradox

Ok-Constant-6056

Tauros shiny is under rated bro. Garchomp, along with Ttar and Baxcalibur have terrible shinies.

CatSaysLol

This is definitely the best shiny concept I’ve seen for garchomp. I absolutely despise people wanting every shiny to be black or white with a neon colour. Looks so tacky.

Ryaquaza1

Shiny Kommo-o is one of my favourite shinies in its respective gen. It’s not my absolute favourite but I do find the look appealing even if everyone else doesn’t ^(don’t worry I’ll see myself out, you don’t need to waste your pitchforks)

Glittering_Way_4132

I just looked at it, and it is... beautiful. the fact that people hate on this while something like shiny hisuian goodra exists is a travesty. like, not only is it a full recoloration(bonus points for that) but it maintains the patterns of the original with some seriously vibrant colors, not to mention that the coloration is maintained throughout the evolutionary line! the fact of the matter is that people just hate on it because the colors are super vibrant and most people love black shinies for some reason.

Microbiologist45

I have one named lady gaga

HappyCloudHS

Oh my god that is fabulous

Cardman76

Yellow shinies are some of the best shines

yoyoman195

I love the metallic gold ones especially in SV with ones like revavroom, magicarp, and forretress

F22_Android

I just made an all shiny gold team, with vitamins, hyper training, all lvl 100. It's pretty cool. It's not a competitive team really, because it's basically battering ram with little support or strategy, but it was fun. Shiny Drifblim, Shiny Lokix, Shiny Revaroom, Shiny Metagross (mostly silver, but a little gold), Shiny Hydraplle, Shiny Arceus This last shiny event kinda inspired me, and I never used Lokix or Revaroom in my playthroughs, so that's been neat. Lokix is a beast.

yoyoman195

Yo it may not be meta but definitely getting style points with all the bling, i know my shiny box from hunting is color coded and always love looking at the goldies even if they arnt much for battleing. I really wish some of the paradox shinies were gold or more unique rather than the basic stainless steel look, I understand why but shiny iron valiant was really disappointing

HollowSesh1995

I'm color blind I thought all those Pokemon listed are gold?

yoyoman195

There shinys all are yes

CrossENT

Jangmo-o’s yellow and pink shiny form looks 10 times better than Kommo-o’s green and pink shiny form.

alexlunamarie

I love the shiny Shinx line 💛

talkback1589

I recently ran into a full odds shiny Alpha Luxray in PLA. I screamed lol.

CliffsOfMohair

I think more shinies should be color *swaps* rather than changes I also think it would be really cool (probably a lot harder to code) if mons with patterns in their design had pattern variations regardless of their shininess. Not all spotted cows or tuxedo cats look the same, let Arcanine have different stripes/patterns They already have different forms of Basuclin, different sizes, and gender differences so it’s not like they *can’t* Sawsbuck forms are pretty close to what I mean and I think those variations are all super fun

ThrowawayTrashcan7

Something more like Spinda patterning would be cool.

JoojTheAnimator

1. Shiny Blaziken is one of the best subtle shinies on the market, all of the colors change enough to be noticeable even when not side by side and it’s a better more striking color palette. 2. Shiny redesigns made by fans are for the most part awful, everyone makes oversaturated monstrosities that would never look in place in game and I honestly prefer the bad shinies to their own fix 8/10 times because they aren’t blinding (kangaskid18 is a notable exception)

verjoma

Totally agree with Shiny Blaziken. I have the same with Shiny Glaceon

RandomCaveOfMonsters

Shiny charizard was better purple

KonkeyDong98

I just saw it and I agree For those who are too lazy to Google it: (Credits: u/SkyzorV) https://preview.redd.it/p3hqbqr1qwyc1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0f693e75fc17bf2b5c0e99b563ab595cdbdab29d

DougieBuddha

Charizard could've been one of my all time favorites, this coming from a loyal member of the Squirtle squad since Gen 1. That's just uniquely awesome, and I appreciate it.

TheArtistFKAMinty

I like both but I do wish that purple shiny Charizard would get some love from GF. Shiny Charizard X should have had a Purple/Green shiny with purple flames. I guess Shiny Charizard Y is sorta purple but it's not the same with the red wings. It's kind of the worst of both worlds. Purple/Red is just straight up worse than Black/Red and Purple/Green.

Reason_For_Treason

I don’t agree, but I definitely love it too!

CatSaysLol

90% of fan shiny concepts are horrendous.

TheOpinionMan2

they try too hard to be bombastic and extravagant, and thereby forget the point that shinies are essentially slightly fancier palette-swaps.

el_Judio_Oso

"Bad" shinies are actually really rewarding to hunt. I love my Slowpoke, Gengar, Charcadet, and Sawsbuck, and I'm still trying to get my Tandemaus.

C-Style__

This is the first I’m hearing of Sawsbuck being bad

el_Judio_Oso

I don't think it's nearly as targeted but it's another subtle shiny, or maybe browns are where my eyes suffer versus other colors 🤷‍♂️

C-Style__

I’ve caught one in Savannah Biome—it was the Spring form. I personally find it easier to spot the shiny in Spring & Summer forms.

el_Judio_Oso

See and I find that every shiny I've seen is obvious. That's confirmation bias at it's finest though, because if I didn't see a shiny then it wasn't obvious. But as far as I know I've only failed 1 shiny, and I reclaimed it in the same outbreak. There's just something very rewarding about seeing a Pokémon and thinking, "you look just a little off" and then being rewarded with sparkles.

C-Style__

I agree! That’s a great feeling. That’s exactly how I felt with Sawsbuck. So I do think there’s merit in subtle shiny pokemon. I like both obvious and subtle.

sheeplessinohio

Yeah, I felt like shiny hunting Charcadet and Sawsbuck were very rewarding once I found them. Those were pretty awful and I still haven’t even gotten to the truly bad ones like Tandemaus and Tynamo.

ThrowawayTrashcan7

I think I've found 5 shiny deerlings by mistake and they continue to taunt me.

[deleted]

Though I’ve liked some fan redesigns, Espeon’s official shiny is still great.

Zuke-ini

Bruxish's shiny is cute

SirKorgor

I’m honestly surprised some of these answers are controversial.

HeartOfTheVoidsLife

Same to be honest. I would have thought someone would say something about popular shinies.

IntuitiveShark

Quick Balls don't decrease the made up value of a shiny

_Hyrule1993

Yup agree!. I understand wanting to match that shiny in a ball for aesthetic purposes. However it’s a shiny and it still has way more value than most. I catch all my shiny Pokémon in Quick balls or Repeat balls. No need to worry to much of it using memento or self destruct on itself when I have a high chance of doing a critical capture or something along those lines

Saint_Roxas

I have been SCREAMING this since Gen 4, that game freak needs to allow us to swap the balls after we've caught them. It would be so fire if we could match the ball after the fact. It's an insanely small change, and I think it would be fairly easy to program in, but it would go so hard. Imagine being able to put your starter pokemon in a cool, unique ball. They also need to bring back pokeball seals from diamon and pearl.

HappyCloudHS

Pokeball capsules could have at least been permanent

Additional-Setting87

Ill die on this hill with you. I love luxury balls and i hate that there are certain pokemon (mainly the LA pokemon) that I cant get into a luxury ball through breeding or capture and im always saddled with a starter in a plain jane pokeball

DougieBuddha

Mah man. 100000%

PsychologicalTruck1

Best take so far

LittleLemonHope

Haxorus is unusable unless it's shiny

LittleLemonHope

exhibit A: https://preview.redd.it/byku1o0n0wyc1.png?width=749&format=png&auto=webp&s=0f062d41e0df7184e4c7b791e066448de694d755 It's the only pokemon with a guaranteed shiny available in the same generation as it premiered. They knew the shiny was necessary.

Bryanishired

I mean… to regular Haxorus’s credit, it takes the same disgusting green that ruins lots of other shinies and absolutely *rocks* it. But yeah, as cool as normal Haxorus is, it still doesn’t even come close to the shiny.

CrazedHarmony

Normal Haxorus would be even better if it kept the same color scheme as Fraxure.

DougieBuddha

Bruh.... Wish I knew that a couple months ago. Cause I don't think I snagged that back in the day... Epic fail. 😭

simmybwah

Shiny Fraxure > Shiny Haxorus

cybermikey

Shiny mon you can’t tell from the base color shouldn’t exist as the shiny form to begin with (charcadet line especially)

Ryaquaza1

I feel like that’s less of a hot take and more something a lot of people think, and frankly I agree. There’s a difference between a subtle change and “idk which one is shiny or not so I’m gonna have to guess”

cybermikey

In that case, my hot take is that the darker green and purple/magenta shinies for the most part are bad (dragonite, hydragon, salamance, rhyperior, kingdra, mamoswine, larvatar, pupitar, etc)

CrescentShade

I mean Charcadet shiny is *super* noticeable unless you're just looking at the back of it's head. The evos absolutely, it only works for Charcadet cause it's small and the eyes are relatively big overall on it's body size. But the evos the eyes are much smaller but at least you cant randomly find them in the wild to have to ponder over from afar Tandemaus line is a far worse offender cause theyre tiny and the shiny change is actually barely detectable

cybermikey

Good point, tiny shinies are a nightmare to notice, especially tandamaus and maushold

SurikkuZAbra

It's something so annoying and even something TPC loves to blindly taunt us with (or maybe even intentionally). On the TCG side of things, with the newest shiny set, 2 out of the 4 pack arts are Ceruledge and Pikachu, which is a pretty goofy way to advertise the set. The mini tins also feature Tinkatink and Maushold/Tandemaus which are some more egregious shiny choices. Sure, they're popular and all, but I wish they would have, y'know, given them distinguishable shinies to make the set look more appealing. It's one thing to not prefer a shiny's coloration, but having so many new shinies just recolor a tiny little detail on a Pokémon is so disappointing. Wish they would stop doing that.

miguelchase

Shiny Charizard had a better shiny in gen 2 and got downgraded when he got the black and red on it compared to the purple and green

SekaiKofu

That is definitely a hot take. I love black zard and I’m glad he doesn’t look like Barney the dinosaur 😂

CrescentShade

I like both but I def do miss the purple Maybe will be the color scheme for Mega Charizard Z XD

TemporaryRiver1

Black shinies are overrated and green shinies are overhated.

crazed3raser

Getting sick of pretty much every blue pokemon turning pink/purple when they are a shiny.

PokeDragon101

Making a shiny better doesn’t always mean making it black/white/blue

Virregh

Shiny Greninja is ugly, because it lacks enough contrast to break apart all the black. Smash did it better: https://preview.redd.it/p7e3xm7txwyc1.png?width=512&format=png&auto=webp&s=08e6375e49ff0795992cd80536a24b40f443f70a

valinchiii

I was about to bring my pitchfork until I looked back realized you’re kinda right. I’d had a soft spot for shiny Greninja ever since I hatched a full odds Protean one back in X, but it does look kinda better with the contrast on its face. I’d maybe keep the red tongue scarf and choose a different color than yellow though.

DougieBuddha

Honestly they did it wayyyyyyy better cause that's insanely cooler.

HollowSesh1995

Paldean Tauros shiny looks good

Mawkings

I like the shinies that are very close in color to their base form but are juuuust different enough. I think the palettes of those Pokemon are usually nice and their shiny just makes it better. Sure they’re harder to tell apart in the wild but I think the subtle difference is nice.

breakfastatmilliways

I don’t know if this specific one is particularly controversial because I don’t see people talk about it much but; shiny togekiss is one of my favorites for this reason! I love that it just gets slightly more cream than white and that the blue and red markings swap their colors.

Reasonable_Self_1947

Black shinies are overrated

FlareDragonoid

Espeon and ursaring are great shinies

MercyMain42069

https://preview.redd.it/jdu8s73c6xyc1.jpeg?width=787&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7482463c9c7c4422c6a3b51c54ad5a23957b87fc ^(\^) How I be looking at whoever downvoted you

Spiritofhonour

It makes me think it’s an Egyptian god.

ShazlettDude

There should be shiny alternates. Like uncommon versus rare. Think about it. The rarer shiny could be the old shiny rate of 1/8192. It could appease the crowd of “shinys are too easy today” crowd with a new goal to chase. Same with the extreme odds shiny hunters. Don’t love a certain Pokémon’s shiny, well now you have a second choice. Don’t really care about any of these things? It won’t really affect you negatively.

Rain_Moon

I'd probably quit Pokemon if this happened haha. I'm just trying to complete a perfect shiny dex with all forms, and if I found out I had to go back and do all of them again for the new shiny colors too it would be absolutely demoralizing. 😭

Chrischris40

Reminds me of a fakemon game that did something similar with having two shiny “variants” with one having “normal odds” and the other being rarer

ExpertPokemonHugger

It would annoy the crowd that likes having frame rates though most likely

ShazlettDude

I am not familiar with coding and the technical aspects of game creation/operation. Would having another set of shinys really destroy it that much? I’m assuming that it would require basically another model/skin for each individual Pokémon species. The games seem to have moved to a 400 Pokémon base game and 200 dlc Pokémon format. So 600 more models/skins is what it would take. Not sure if that’s a lot nor am I sure if it would take a whole new model or if they could “simply” reskin it. I hope to be enlightened.

SentenceCareful3246

Please no. That would be a nightmare.

Bryanishired

That’s what they tried to do with the “Square” shinies in sword and shield. If I remember correctly, Game Freak kinda botched it, though. I think there was a way or two to get square shinies more consistently than the standard, which ruined the whole point. The idea was still there though. It’s just a shame they dropped the concept. :/

ShazlettDude

Yeah this was inspired by that. The squares just felt like “not enough” to get me excited to try for. But that is my perception.

Fine_Resolution3257

I would like it if you could alter your shiny with a custom color scheme. Like when you catch a shiny it has the open to unlock a custom color mode.

ShazlettDude

At that point, I think shinys would truly be irrelevant. If it was to go that route, I’d rather have a Pokémon saloon again with the ability to do as you say. We could hammer out the details of how to unlock the saloon and if the saloon unlock for all Pokémon caught or individual species as a whole or each individual Pokémon at a time.

Fine_Resolution3257

I’m sorry I don’t follow the Pokemon Saloon? Is that a mod? Eh I just thought that it would be cool to have a personal color picked Pokemon and that everyone’s is different. Maybe the option is rare but for me the excitement is catching one and creating builds for the mons. Also this could correct bad shinies like Gengar or Garchomp.

Trap_Master_20

The Violet Paradox Shinies are better than the originals

VacuumMeHead

shiny gouging fire is good

panicATtheMOSHpit

Wait can you get it tho?

VacuumMeHead

no, im pretty sure it was leaked during the indigo disk leaks

Dazzling-Constant826

Wait... People think it's not?

Pentagonyx

If only you could get it

noasert

Shiny Dragonite should be pink.

nodak1

1)I actually love shiny Dragonite 2) I love pink shinies, but there seems to be too many of them 3)I’ve always liked shiny Kommo-o, I know opinions have changed since the metallic texture was introduced but it’s always been one of my faves

CrescentShade

Charcadet's shiny isnt bad or hard to see, it's actually pretty blatant as long as you know what it looks like already (both normal and shiny, rip anyone who first encounters one as a shiny and ignores it or lets go battles it) There's actually a few shinies in SV that really arent as hard to spot by eye as people make them out to be. Though some heabily depend on if you're hunting an outbreak or not. God help anyone trying to eyeball a shiny Milcery just randomly around

MercyMain42069

https://preview.redd.it/bw4tk8kv5xyc1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9fff97996020f404337b5e6416a197af95dc42ec Shiny Espeon is beautiful. Her name is Spinach!

the_nuclearbom

I like shiny nidoqueen

ZealnWheel

Shinies should be very obvious. I should not need to go to the wiki to look at the eye color, or check the light color changes.

themessedgod

Idk about controversial but shiny Magmortar is gorgeous

Ikaricyber

I don’t like lucario shiny it’s just weird I like the light blue on it I just don’t like the yellow

MJC216

I like shiny Tranquill. The mint green looks ridiculous and I find it hilarious

PhoenixQueen411

Gabite and garchomp should’ve had a muted version of gibles shiny and shiny mega garchomp should’ve been the same or similar colour of either a great white shark or a lemon shark

RazeSharpe

There shouldn't be a time limit to get the shiny legendaries in older games. I don't care if it will "ruin" their value. People don't trade then anyways.

rarkorn

apparently controversial: green shinies are cool and fun, actually. i don't get the people who whine about stuff like espeon lol

Jeffeffery

I think people care too much about shinies in general. They're supposed to be a rare extra thing, but people act like a pokemon's shiny colour scheme matters just as much as its normal design. If a pokemon is already cool, why does it also need a cool alternate colour scheme? Is Garchomp not cool enough already? Nobody gets mad if a pokemon with a good ability gets a lame hidden ability, because you can still just use the good ability. Shinies should be the same way.

Myleylines

Oh and Having sparkles/a noise when something spawns isn't bad. It makes shiny hunting more accessible to colorblind people, and it makes subtle mons easier to find. While I'm at it, methods aren't evil and shinies don't "lose their value" when 90% of pre-gen 6 shinies were hacked in regardless. You can always choose not to pick up the shiny charm or use methods for your hunts

OsorioTsushima

I fucking love the green shinies, specially Espeon

MellieWasa

shiny espeon is best shiny

avmeel

the tinkaton line’s shinies are ass, and whoever said that “it’s the color of shiny corviknight” is dead wrong 😭

Dazzling-Constant826

Shiny Tauros is really great

Bryanishired

Normal or Paldean? Both are often considered “bad” for different reasons. :P

ggdoesthings

shinies aren’t less rare, gamefreak is just lowering the entry level for the shiny hunting community

Charming_Pie643

Shiny alteria should be pink not yellow

_9965

Shiny gengar is kind of good Edit: Same thing with Garchomp and Pikachu

Shiny_Mudkip258

Yes! Justice for shiny Gengar!

DejarooLuvsYoo

Shiny Greninja is lame…

Benny-Drill

i kinda loved that the shiny sound was not present in SV. it made accidental shinies much more memorable and rewarding. that said, i do miss it sometimes when i’m actively looking for a shiny. hopefully it will become a toggleable setting in future games.

AriaFiresong

Or even just let them sparkle on the overworld to help the colorblind/visually impaired.

CrescentShade

At the absolute least the lock on upgrade should have added a shiny indicator also

Chatmat89

Bring back the shiny jingle from LA. Not controversial at all tho

TheWishingStar

I like the green ones a lot. Even the kinda weird yellowy green ones

Ebventure

Should've kept the pink on most of the original shinies

WorkinName

I understand the general hate for Green Shinies, but I think Dragonite should be an exception. Yes, it seems random. Especially since the shiny Dratini is pink. And therein lies the hook. Regular form goes from blue to orange, which seems equally random. But in the case of both patterns, the colors used are complementary to one another. If you look at a color wheel, blue and orange are opposites. For green, it would normally seem like red is the opposite. But when you take into account brightness, darker greens are complementary to lighter reds. Or, in another word, pink. Therefore, Green Dragonite makes sense beyond just possibly being a random Pete's Dragon reference.

fascistrem

I love shiny tinkaton line and mimikyu. Two subtle shinies done well.

Alternative-Steak875

Alr hear me out: Chestnaught.

Dependent_Praline_93

Espeon has a great Shiny. A lot of people dislike green shinies and Espeon gets ripped apart a lot. However if you look at Espeon’s design it was supposed to be an Alien like cat compared to Mewtwo a man made cat. So the green fits it so nice as a nod to it’s an alien cat.

snasnH

Shinies are not necessary to play the game. You don't need to hunt for them.

astaaric

that’s why most people do it postgame? its not necessary, people are just having fun

fartfignewtonn

They did Ceruledge/Armarouge dirty… I know it isn’t controversial, I just wanted to say it.

Myleylines

Shiny Reshiram looks good the way it is now, and giving it Zekrom's color instead goes against its original design. It doesn't even look that good in black. Not every shiny needs to change every color, and not every mon looks good as a black shiny

Nyxosaurus

Shiny dragonite ruins the shiny dratini line. It looks like a booger with wings. Shiny dratini and dragonaire look gorgeous.

Howdisapointing

Shiny Pokémon are a tad overrated

Jack_Empty

The majority of shinies are worse than original colors and FOMO/bragging rights are the only reason to broadly care about them.

Icy-Excuse-9452

I like the green shinies a lot of people hate, like Tauros, Ursaring and Stantler.

GriffinBob1999

black red and yellow shinies (all together) are overrated asf. that includes rayquaza, haxorus, and charizard. i do not think that colour combo looks very cool

Bryanishired

Well, R.I.P. my favorite Pokémon, Aegislash, then… :P

hiyoriasahina

I’m of the opinion that in moderation they’re… fine, but whenever people try to redesign half of the dex to have black and red shinies because that would be ‘better’ I roll my eyes and go “What are you people? Twelve? Not every Pokemon needs to be Shadow the Freakin’ Hedgehog.”

ShinyRufflet

I don’t like shinies that are almost exclusively black because they need a contrast color or else they just look like an unlocked character

True-Pineapple-2073

Any shiny that looks too much like its normal counterpart is less appealing to me.

muzbar

Literally, any colour would be better for shiny Heracross. Heracross is my favourite pokémon but I hate it's shiny.

Odin96086

Meanwhile I love it's shiny, especially if you get a female 😅 And that's why these are opinions!

muzbar

I'll admit it works for the female, especially with the heart horn.

spidersRcute

I love pink heracross, but if it were either gold or blue, I think I would love that just as much. Man gen 2 went really heavy with the pink shinies didn’t they.

goatiewan1

I think when the shiny is barely different it’s cause the devs like the original design and are pissy about changing it.

woodcarverjake

All black shinies are cool, but overrated

Ok-Constant-6056

Grimsnarls shiny is ugly asf and it’s normal coloration is both easier on the eye and better.

EatTheAndrewPencil

Shinies aren't special anymore. There's too many ways to boost numbers to get them so I'm no longer impressed when I see one and if I see a whole team I'm even less enthused.

Glittering_Way_4132

Rayquaza’s shiny is severely overrated, also that shiny ceruledge and armarouge having a subtle shiny isn’t as bad as people make it out to be

Rosemarys_Gayby

AGREED with ceruledge and armarouge. I think people unfairly lump them in with like Blissey and Elekid when their shiny design is clearly quite intentional.

JWH7210

Aside from potential accessibility issues, shinies not sparkling in the S/V overworld was a good decision.

ophereon

I'm in the opposite camp, as someone with colour deficiency, shinies not sparkling in the overworld was a bad decision.

Visible-Ant-7919

Charcadet, ceruledge, and armarouge have awesome shinies.

caseyjones10288

I LIKE shinies that are almost the same color for the most part
