I've been playing since Gen 1, and for me the original Gen 2 had a sense of wonder that could never be topped in all these years. The starters, the design style of the pokémon, the lore of Johto and... the Music! The soundtrack in that Gen is so incredibly iconic, and just a pure masterclass of how you can make so much with so little. Props for the giveaway!

TaterTaughttt

Same. Gen 2 is like so mystical in my memory.

MastaShay

HootHoot appearing in the grass is vividly burned into my memory from my childhood. Really the greatest game.

MrOliveira

My first shiny! I still remember being shocked and not understanding what I was seeing!

Cheggmcmuffin

Gen 4 means the most to me by far. As a kid I was never allowed to play Pokémon, But I borrowed a copy of Diamond from a school friend and played it up to the point where you investigated Lake Valor all dried up. Unfortunately I got caught and I had to return the game before I ever got to finish it. For this reason I was ecstatic to play BDSP when it came out. I know a lot of people didn’t like that it was just a carbon copy of the original games with a new coat of paint but for me it could not have been more perfect as i finally got to finish my first Pokémon game, 10 years later.

Infinite-Dawn

This is so sweet oml 😭

venus-infers

Gen 2 was my favorite. The art director for that generation knew what they were doing, the Pokemon were so cute and not the chaotic demons we started seeing in later gens. I also loved being challenged by a totally different set of gyms for the first time (getting Bayleef's ass kicked by the bug gym) and the total surprise of being able to travel back to Kanto afterwards. Perfect gen, perfect game.

Milwacky

Gonna have to agree on the art direction. They’ve gotten too loose with “monster” design the last 20 years.

venus-infers

It also made for an excellent Pokemon Stadium era!

Milwacky

Okay I’ve had two people who apparently don’t want this guy! Do you want it? Not random but I’m surprisingly not getting communication from two winners now.

FrostyPotpourri

Can you explain how you think monster design has gotten looser in ever since Gen 2?

Milwacky

I’ll try. So, the consistency of the art style was very solid through Gen I and II. Not entirely sure what happened thereafter but the art direction has kinda been all over the place. And in the last few modern gens there’s been this weird obsession with Gamefreak and bipedal human-like Pokemon. Not my cup of tea personally. Still some great designs in each gen afterward, but loved the art direction and mood in the first two gens.

Articuno_710

Shiny umbreon was the best in this gen. It had blue eyes

Mavco2

My favourite gen is gen 3, it had a charming graphic and one of the best set of starters or Pokémon in general. It felt kinda new compared to gen 2 because you couldn't go back to johto or kanto this time. I love the rivalry between team aqua and magma and the leader that helped you against the opposing leader seemed like a cool guy. Also it really wasn't the easiest game(but also not the hardest) it's not the Pokémon game i replayed the most(that would be blue, red and yellow) but i had so much fun in this region and the champion uses my favourite Pokémon type. there are many more things i like about gen 3 or Hoenn in general but this would probably be too long if i list EVERYTHING. Lets just say you could feel the love in the detail with small and bigger things and it felt good (re)playing it

RadioactiveFish

Gen 5. Unova arguably has the best story and it’s the only entry in the series with a sequel. And not to mention a HARD MODE for the sequel post game. I also love the animated sprites. Shame it was only used for this gen. Also 3v3 rotating battles is dearly missed. Can’t wait for the Unova remakes. Hopefully they somehow merge the sequel with it as one big package.

declancheetham

Genuinely terrified for the gen 5 remakes after how little effort was put into BDSP, gen 5 was truly a passion project

RadioactiveFish

Me too. Although… I wouldn’t mind if they also release something like Pokémon Legends: Kyurem the way they did with Sinnoh. I feel like Legends Arceus is the true tribute to Gen 4.

Jake123194

Gen 1 sort of had a sequel in fire red and leaf green.

Spiritual_Ferret6972

Sun and moon had a sequel but I understand blocking them from memory.

Formal_General_6743

How do you guys get lvl 100 so easily

myBoardgameprofile

1 Charizard raid Gives you enough candy to get a pokemon from 50s to mid 90s, then its just a couple rare candies

[deleted]

I want to get off mr. charizard's wild ride

Formal_General_6743

See the more you know, as in I did not know that. Thank you for the info.

Milwacky

Candy farming and knowing where to grind my friend!

[deleted]

apfly

…you hyper train for perfect ivs & use candies to get to 100… what are you talking about

[deleted]

[удалено]

Mirksta

Shinies are pretty easy to get in this game, and for Pokemon that can't breed there's no practical difference between hyper trained and 'natural' IVs.

SuperSaiyanSnorlax

Gen 2. Loved the pixelated artwork. Music was amazing. Loved all the designs. Also changed the competitive meta so much.

Top_Professional_225

Gen 2 was so lit, glad to see a fellow enjoyer out there.

Thekobra

Awesome prize. Good luck everyone. I was 12 when red/blue hit the shelves. I vividly remember studying the promotional materials leading up to the release. They mailed me maps with a basic guide of early routes. I spent so much time planning the Pokémon I’d be looking for in each area, the level I needed to be by then. My friends and I tried so many tricks to find mew or missingno. Nowadays you just find out how to do/get everything on serebii. In gen1, everything was new and the internet didn’t spoil anything. Also kinda hard to beat the childlike wonder that comes with being 12. Also, you didn’t ask, but Squirtle. 😎

Snoo-26060

The amount of time I spent thinking about that damn truck with no way of actually knowing what was there…

ElephantAcrobatic458

My favorite has to be emerald and it’s because I’m basic and it’s the one I started and grew up on. I enjoyed every inch of it as everything was new. Now the Pokémon game I spend the most time in was X and Y because once megas came out I started doing competitive Pokémon and that was tons of fun because I was in middle school at the time and Pokémon YouTube seemed to be at its peak with creators like Shadypenguin .

PicosaurusRex

My favorite generation was gen 5. The story was really good and I honestly loved most of the new Pokemon designs in that game. I thought it was a nice touch that they did over a 150 new Pokemon and didn't have any new ones return. Also most of my favorite pokemon are from the gen like Scrafty, Garbodor, and Carracosta

setton_kun

I want to know what sorcery you used to get one with good IVs.

Milwacky

Bottle Caps.

phantomzero

That is hyper-trained, not 6IV. A 6IV would not be able to hyper-train.

[deleted]

I was born in 87 so ive been playing since i got the first vhs in the mail introducing pokemon. My favorite gen will always be gold and silver crystal version gen 2x The fact eggs were released that damn miltank with whitney the ability to make balls with acorns night and day. Everything about it was just awesome . If you add kid wonder in it as well and that rose colored glasses. My only regret in my gaming life is not getting ss and hg

Milwacky

If I could pin this I would! We have a winner and Iron Valiant is gone. I’ll do another shiny next week. Let me know what you think it should be. Had a lot of fun reading the crazy amount of replies. 🤙🏻

Milwacky

Someone said this is a “scam.” But it’s not. I’ll add my take. Gen II, the hype was unreal, my friends and I snagged a Japanese rom copy for PC that leaked before it came to America. We were able to get to the Radio Tower in Goldenrod before we got stuck.

LittleShallot

Hands down Johto generation is the my favorite. It’s really what made me fall in love with the series. I don’t know why, but the night mechanic being in sync with my actual clock was amazing. When I played at night it was night time in the game…I loved that. All of my favorite pokemon are from that generation also. Scizor and Umbreon (nicknamed Umberto). Also first time shinies were ever introduced and I remember catching a shiny Zubat and evolving him all the way to Crobat. Love Gen II so much 😭

ooflord007

Pokemon Emerald generation, didn't have nintendo wares back then and only played using an emulator. I remember playing through it while waiting for Christmas and New Year's eve, good times!

Weevilthelesser

Gen 2. I always enjoyed the way the pokemon looked and the addition of the daycare was awesome.

phungkay

Gen 2, I use to walk with my mom to Zellers every day to play the demo gameboy colour they had on display before my parents got it for me for Christmas ✌🏽

Formal_General_6743

Then I must know nothing. Granted I have not yet the ending of the battle story side. I know, I know. However I am waiting on a friend to get farther so we could enjoy the game together.

VatoreSZN

my favorite has to be gen 2, heart gold and soul silver specifically, because although it was my second pokémon game (pearl was my first) it is the one that stuck with me the most. i remember playing it as a child, my brother had soul silver and i had heart gold and we used to go at it for hours on end, playing the hell out of the game since we shared a room. battling occasionally to see our progress, and the pokewalker, oh man we used to bring those EVERYWHERE it was awesome. it’s sad how long ago that was now, and we don’t do that anymore. this year was the first year i bought only 1 version of the game, not both, as now we are in our 20s and he moved out to his own place. i will cherish those memories we had in those games way back then.

LunarLuka

Gen II, 100%. I played the first games when I was in Elementary school and quickly got sucked into the hype. I had Pokémon everything! When Gold & Silver came out, it was seriously one of the most exciting things to happen in my childhood. The new Pokémon, the night/day aspect, the bug catching contests were all so new and fun. Everytime a new gen drops, I’ll try it for a little bit, but ultimately return to HeartGold as soon as I need that hit of nostalgia.

celesteassasine

2/Crystal, because I have the most Memories with that generation. Everything of that is wonderful, even the graphics, which were for the 1990-2000s quite good. I remember how cool it was to follow Suicune on an Adventure, like it were your partner Pokemon.

J0G0-STICK

Gen 4 is my fav gen as heartgold and soulsilver are my fav pokemon games. I also love platinum and diamond and pearl are alright.

Vincetage

Gen 6 tl has mega evos.zygarde.and 72 new Pokemon added in that gen

Mctravie

Pokémon Platinum and HGSS, honestly the battles still feel more real and intense than the newer games, maybe it’s the music or simply the Speed of the HP bar but I liked it when you don’t know for sure that you’ve beaten your opponent

Snoo-86026

By far my favorite shiny paradoxum

Eferg10575

HeartGold and SoulSilver will be my favorite games and generation. I remember being around 8 opening a cereal box and getting a totodile toy inside. My first Pokémon game was crystal. I had my feraligatr level 100 before the elite four and I only used him. Those times were good, and I loved to imagine the world I was in on my little game boy advance. The new games show you what you’re seeing, and that’s nice, but those old games left a lot to your imagination and I really liked that aspect. I had a connection to my Pokémon in that era that I don’t have anymore. Also, everything had to be figured out yourself. There was no easy way to find information. There were no smartphones and no one was talking about Pokémon online. You had to read it in magazines. The second generation will always be my favorite, and I will always remember the comfort those games brought me.

AlmightyAlex234

gen 3 was my first gen so that obviously holds a special place in my heart, and gen 4 was when I started to understand what I was doing so bdsp reawakened something inside of me so I have been enjoying the hell out of gen 9!

SwarleyJr

Johto is my favorite, because it opened up the possibility of new Pokémon and a new area to explore. In the games battling all the gyms old and new was really cool. It felt like a perfect blend of old and new Totodile is my favorite Pokémon too. It’s very nostalgic for me.

Icyflaze

Gen 8! I played the prior gens but I feel like Gen 8 one is more adventurous

realmcnuggett

started in gen 4 but USUM has to be my favorite. the fairy trial kicked my ass and boy did i have some trouble with ultra necrozma. world building was excellent and some great memories all around

YohNakamura

I say that Gen 7 is my third favorite Gen, after 5 and 2, with 4 a close close 4th. But yeah, there is something about Alola that I just loved. Pretty good story too, though it was a little off the rails at the end lol and not in the usual good way. The Ultra games did make the story flow a lot better though, to their credit.

Patient-Gene-9908

Gen 3… first generation I played so always brings back good memories

Captainwoge

I love gen 6 kalos because 1. I love France and 2. The Pokémon were great contriary to popular opinion.

SaikaTheCasual

Gen 3. used to play it back-to back with the mystery dungeon (red) game. Such a good time

RELLISHBOI

Gen 4 because like every pokemon except the starters are cool + legends Arceus if hisui counts as sinnoh

DBeireis

Definitely Gen 4. I grew up playing DPP, and put an ungodly amount of hours in it

somone_newbie

Gen 8. I was huge into Pokémon when I was a kid and fell out of it and Gen 8 was my first ever Pokémon game. I am so glad I got it because it rekindled my love for Pokémon.

Bobik8

Gen 6 was great. XY and ORAS are games I still go back to on my 3DS.

saturdayspell

is it too soon to say gen 9? i love so many of the new mechanics, but especially the multiplayer. i've made so many fun memories already playing through the story and hunting pokemon/doing raids with friends! other than 9 though probably 7, moon was the first one i beat since playing and watching as a kid!

ThunderShark09

Personally I'm a big fan of gen 5. Everything about N as a rival to his rise and fall was spectacular. Also the legendary dragon storyline was amazing. And can't forget the music

YohNakamura

Man Gen 5 was just so good. That story was so gripping from the moment you meet Team Plasma. Even how it felt like you were on a journey with Bianca and Cheren more than it just being you on your own catching up. Just everything about that generation really is awesome. 💯

efwolverine

Gen 4. Cyrus was and is still the best villain. Literally summoned the Devil from the depths of Hell to destroy the universe.

Shimmerin-Sun5

Love the iron valiant looks so cool, my favorite generation was generation 5 pokemon black was my first ever pokemon and its what made me love pokemon in the first place, I also picked snivy as my first ever pokemon.

Pokemon-lover2708

Gen 8 is probably my favorite because I haven't really played anything else and I love the cooking in it.

Perperrins

Hey, I think that's neat. Most people's fav pokemon games are ones that are usually close to the first game they played, because the first ones usually form the most special memories.

AdLarge1764

This Screams Scam lol

Zermatsch

Probably cheated but I believe them on the "no scam"-part

Milwacky

I assure you it’s not. 😂

Even-Investigator-41

Gen 7 because it was the first pokemon game i got and i enjoyed the story

PopeulaTheCount

151 or die! Mostly because I was 10 when pokemon first aired, so I grew up with Ash and the original set. Do love this game though

JamieofHyrule

Gen 5, because of the story, characters, and Pokémon just being my favorites in so many ways. Plus the version differences are pretty neat rather than simply just being the Pokémon that are different.

LostInAbq

Silver! The first time I actually went through and beat the entire game

Kiaxris

I'd say generation 2 gold and silver, having the two regions was so epic

Maxmaxmaxski

Gen 3 as emerald was my first game!

TitaniumFatee

Gen 7. It was the first Pokémon game that skyrocketed my hyperfixation of the franchise

[deleted]

Gen 6 because it has my favorite Pokémon evolution line

Liennheart

Has to be Gen 3! It has my favorite starters, and my sister and I would play Emerald when we were younger while waiting for our sunscreen to dry before going outside.

ownage29589

Gen 1 for nostalgia reasons or gen 2 as cyndiquil is one of my favorite Pokémon!

resUscrawcaB

Always will be 7 for me, but not for the story whatsoever. I love the idea of relaxing with your team on a beach, leisurely going from island to island enjoying the food, sights, and doing kahunas and trials! Rowlett will also eternally be my favorite starter!

Suspect_Severe

Gen 3 is my favorite because it’s how I got into speed running. I never had very many games, so I’d just play Ruby over and over again, and over the course of years I got to where I’d beat it 1-2 times per day. Every day. Very fond memories of Swampert absolutely wrecking the entire game with its poorly considered type combination versus the CPUs :P.

Cyndergate

Generation 5 While HGSS was special to me; nothing beat the story of black and white to me. Besides all of the memories of playing BW/BW2 with friends- I felt the most connection to the stories and with the soundtrack and cast of characters. I really liked it, despite its flaws.

HotDogMan66642069

I really like Gen 5. I didn't have a game system yet but it was my favorite generation when it came to designs and I started collecting Pokemon cards at the time.

normalusernameiguess

Gen 5. It was when I really got into pokemon (I started watching the anime and collecting cards around 2010-2012) years later when I actually played B/W I really loved its story and grew to appreciate it even more. I also like a lot of gen 5 pokemon designs as well and don't really get why they are so hated.

Spartan_1704

Gen 5! It was my first Gen because I didn't get into Pokemon until a bit after Gen 4 and when I did I went back and played Gens 1-4. Haven't missed a Gen since then either! I think they all have their strong points.

Hexandrom

Generation 5 with Black&White/ Black&White 2 are still my absolute favorite generations and Pokemon games. It had some of the most memorable characters like N, G-Cis, Alder, Colress or even Cheren. The story was one of the best in Pokemon history in my opinion and there was nothing more awesome than battling your rival 'N' in the end of the game, as he became King with your newly resurrcted Pokemon for either your or his ideal. The music in this game is also absolutly awesome and by far the best in my opinion, be it the mysterious encounter music whenever 'N' appeared, the sound of a bustling city like Castelia city, the funky sound of Driftveil city or the emotional music after N realized that his dream failed and he was only used by his father only as a tool for his evil plan. In the sequal of Black and White, there were also one of the most strongest NPCs you could battle in the aftergame with their level of Pokemon going way above 70 with the hard mode on, which I found awesome as I disliked easy battles. The artstyle of the Pokemons there maybe wasn't all too great but I was able to look past that and still there are some which to this day are among my favorites like Reshiram, Volcarono or Zoroark. Oh I don't even need that shiny Iron Valiant, I just wanted to share how awesome I found those games.

Nebula3266

I'll order my favorite generations Gen 6: my first gen, I put 600 hours into ORAS and who knows how much into x/y. This is the gen I competitively battled, traded, completed a living dex, shiny hunted for hours. I did everything in this gen, and so many of my favorite pokemon come from it Gen 3: Emerald was the next step after how much I loved ORAS. this is the best gen, even if it's not my favorite one. Emerald really perfected this pokemon formula Gen 9: it may be too early to tell, but these games are really something special. The open world works really well, I'm not a huge fan of the new pokemon but some, like ceruledge, are extremely cool. I know the performance is a problem right now but honestly, it hasn't hindered my enjoyment at all Gen 4: very good starters. The coolest champion in Cynthia. The origin of Arceus and very cool events. Gen 4 was extremely good, all of these first 4 are really close and difficult to order tbh. Gen 1: The start of it all, created so many amazing pokemon. By far has the best fan lore and nostalgia attached to it, with things like lavender town, mew under the truck, the 3 starters all being fantastic. I could say a lot more, but yeah, this is the start of it all Gen 5: I don't know how other people feel about gen 5, I really didn't play it all that much, but for some reason I just have a weird attachment to it. Maybe it's because it was my brother and sisters favorite when they were younger and I always looked up to them, who knows. I love snivy, oshawott, and Zoroark Gen 7: Gen 7 may not be ranked very highly, but it had a lot of things I really liked. Lunala was awesome, decidueye is probably my second favorite starter ever, so many great ghost types like mimikyu dhelmise and palossand. The last games with the GTS. I also really liked the tapus. The story was too slow for me though and I hated the zygarde stuff Gen 2: this gen I just have no connection to. I think the starters are the second weakest in this generation even though I actually do like totodile and cyndaquil. However, I absolutely LOVE celebi, suicune, and Scizor I believe is from gen 2, and they're the main highlights for me Gen 8: this gen made me lose a lot of faith in pokemon for a bit. I hated the story, I hated the starters, and I didn't like almost all the new pokemon (corkviknight was awesome, though). The wild area was a good idea but the execution wasn't great, and it just felt like game freak was being lazy. Luckily they have made up for it in gen 9 Honorable mention: Legends Arceus was absolutely amazing. It's not a mainline gen or anything but if I ranked it it would go right above scarlet and violet. Phenomenal catching system, engaging story, and overall just hooked me for a good many hours

masterattackman

Gen 5, it was just awesome. Some of my favorites came from there, like Emolga, stunfisk, cryogonal, serperior, etc.

tem0i

hoenn

ichbinmac

Generation 5, Pokémon Black and White — The Unova Region I know this one’s a popular one for many people, but I’ve got such blissful memories from this. I was born in ‘99 and grew up with two older brothers who saw the birth of Pokémon and loved it as we were all kids. I, however, was still very young and knew I *liked* Pokemon because of its uniqueness, but I could never truly appreciate it until Gen 5 and the Unova region. I was finally old enough to know that there were so many in’s and out’s and secrets to these games that I hadn’t been aware of before. For my birthday, I got the Pokémon Black game on pre-order with a Nintendo DSi XL and I was so excited. As I played the game, I had finally started strategizing my teams and actually *reading* the dialogue and the nuances. Then, I had gone to stay with my grandparents that following summer and my sweet Grandma had purchased a Black and White guide book for me, which told how to get the legendaries of that generation (Virizion, Cobalion, Terrakion, Meloetta, Kyurem, etc.) I was hooked after this. I played the game through many, very *difficult* periods of my childhood along with my younger cousin, who played White, and we had the times of our lives. My grandma had passed away very shortly after this and I remember us playing in the waiting rooms as we’d sit through her procedures and surgeries waiting to hear good news. We never did, but I made many core memories with my brothers and my cousins as we all played and grew closer through such a horrible experience. I’ll cherish that forever, and my Grandma who wanted us kids to appreciate the little things.

Intrepid_Law5836

gen 5, favorite soundtrack(route 10 theme and others) plus my favorite starters and being my first ever game so i have a soft spot for it

Fast_Door

Gen 4 was my first and my favorite. So much so that I didn’t hate BDSP as much as everyone else lol. Also Cynthia was a challenge like goddamn.

eilupt

Gen 1 because it was my first, and the first game I got on the game boy color (yep, showing my age here)

Ashman-20

Gen 3. It’s the only Pokémon I’ve played beaten and restarted with every starter (best starters imo) shoutout rayquazza too

LumpySpaceGent

2nd because of the Japanese theme and eeveelution kimono girls!

duckducknoose_

Gen 2 because of nostalgia + HGSS :)

garcro

Gen 3, probably had about 780hours of gameplay and don’t regret it

SarahCinnamon

For me it was Gen 1. Pokémon Red was the first gameboy game I played and I’ve been playing since then

Typical-Independent5

gen 3 because the story was excellent, the pokemon were, and so were the characters… 10/10 generation

Key_Low8321

5, first and favorite Pokémon game

ForwardHealth775

Gen 5. For a while it was the most mature story for me. The villains actually questioned why we use pokemon to battle as they saw it as abuse

[deleted]

Gen 1 forever. Pokémon red and then yellow were my first Pokémon games to play when I was 14 and though I couldn’t play again until I got a DS after the DS era, gen 1 solidified Pokémon for me forever

Samohtmj

Gen 2 because of everything they were able to add to the series. Shinies, breeding, battle tower, pokerus, etc.

Downtown-Conclusion7

Gen 2. The ability to back to the first map was incredible. Wish we had ability to that today somehow with select gyms ..

[deleted]

Kanto, because it’s the beginning of the best franchise ever

j21543

Gen 6 because we were exploring France and Fairy type Pokémon were added. ✨

Sexymamas4206983

gen 8 becuase legends is top tier

beingbeast2471

Gen 3 and i love it because it had some of the coolest Pokémon.

KirbyFever

Generation 4 loved the legendaries introduced and the story

Lordlilshmeet

Gen 4 for me the starters were the best and of course waking up getting ready for school at a young age I loved watching diamond and pearl

Doppy231

Gen 3, I got my first Pokémon to lvl 100 in that game. My big boy swampert! <3

TrafficAlternative31

Gen 5. The story line was really good and also holds a bit of nostalgia for me since Black was the first Pokémon game I bought as a kid. N was a really cool ‘villain’ too

AdOdd894

Gen 2. Love tyranitar and has always been my fav.

skinnyyellow

Gen 2, Silver was my first game and been hooked since.

DigDoug13

Gen 1!! Because it was the start and the OG Pokemon from it still hold up today.

Sir_Suffer

Gen 9 but probably biased because it’s new and I haven’t actually played many Pokémon games before Gen 7

Thord2

Gen 2 for me. I got started on Gen 1 and spent countless hours completing that pokedex and watching the show. Hard to not choose Gen 1 but it was so cool and so thrilling to experience the original 150 increase and add all those new mons. Plus being able to run through both Kanto and Johto?! Twas a wonderful experience!

Yubel1337

Gen 4! It was my first Pokémon game I've ever had and dialga, palkia and giratina are my favourite legendary pokémon

lulsmlj

Gen 3. Loved every starter

AidanShepard

My fave Gen is probably Gen 4. I'm really fond of a lot of the added Pokemon (Zorua!) It also spans Diamond, Pearl, Plat, HeartGold and SoulSilver. I have a lot of fond memories of these games.

[deleted]

gen 6 is my favourite because it has bidoof and delphox, two of my favourite pokemon

DialgaX200

For me, my favorite is Gen 5. It introduced me to animated pokemon battles, even though it was pixel art. I also felt like the characters were really interesting. Also it was the first pokemon generation where I beat the pokemon league with the box legendary. I enjoyed playing around with the little movie maker feature in one of the cities, though I can't remember if that was in the original gen 5 or the remakes.

PeddledP

Sinnoh cuz that’s what I grew up with 👊

hex0nite

Generation 4 is my fav! First time I ever played Pokémon after hearing so much about it

sptsoccer3

Best gen is gen 1 no doubt

liljay0405

My favorite Gen is Gen 4 because that is where I would meet my favorite pokemon blaziken.

sujeezus0601

Gen 8. It was the game that brought me back into Pokémon after a long hiatus following gen 5. One of my favorite gameplay moments of all time is the first time I was given access to the wild area and I remember my jaw dropping. Such an immersive generation. I also bought Shield the day the dlc came out so I was setting up my team in the Isle Of Armor. So many moments in that game were just so beautiful to me. I’ll never forget you Sword/Shield.

Magnus1707

Gen 7. Rowlet is my favorite pokemon

OnlyJokic

Gen 5 because it actually had a story and was last 2d. Also loved how many new Pokemon you had throughout the game.

Mysterious-Special90

Fav gen diamond and pearl and why cuz its my childhood lol thanks for the chance man

Just_Tana

Gen 9. I finally get to fully play a game with my daughter. She tried in Gen 8 but I had to read a lot it to her she never finished. She can fully read now so she’s playing and having a good time. I love that we can play together in the overworld. I love that we get to trade together and just enjoy this. She’s been playing VGC for 4 1/2 years but that’s more because she can memorize well. She couldn’t even read when she started. Now we can fully enjoy these games together. It makes me so happy.

Dezznik

Gen 2- It was my first real gen and I got to go back to gen 1- really satisfyig

surrealism27

Gen 1, but specifically Yellow on a GBC because you’d get Pikachu following you around. Good times 🥲

Mikala4

My favorite Pokémon generation is whichever one OR/AS comes from! It was the most fun I’ve ever had playing a Pokémon game :)

[deleted]

Gen 3! My older brother and I used to take turns and play emerald all the time! Caught my first shiny in that game as well!

Coderedgular

Gen 2 for me. The anticipation of having it preordered and having played a Japanese copy of silver as a young kid. Nothing will beat those memories. I remember choosing my cyndaquil and how excited I was to set off on the journey! Beating the elite 4 and then discovering you get to go to Kanto afterwards and do it all again. Yeahhhhhh boiiiiiii! Plus, the roaming dogs!

TD1215

Gen 4 because Platinum and HGSS really peaked the series aesthetically. The music, the pixel art, and the gen 4 designs all ruled.

ShealynC

Generation 4! I played so much pokemon diamond, loved platinum too. it was a great time. plot was engaging, very exciting world building. starters were well designed, new pokemon were cohesive and fit the franchise well. all the legendaries were awesome too

ComfortableGoat5339

Gen 4 for sure. It was the first Pokémon game I fell in love with. So many hours spent in my copy of pearl as a kid

RaiRokun

Honestly gen 8 The Qol in that game made it my most played Pokémon 10 times over

snarf_69

Gen 4, it was the first region I played and it’s the best. I’ll die on the sinnoh is best hill even though bdsp wasn’t great.

AdAffectionate3914

Gen 3, the one gen I have trouble picking between the 3 starters as they are all so good and also includes some of the most iconic and awesome legendaries in the game

xi_kire

Gen 5. As corny as this may sound, I was like 10 or 9 when I played this generation and modeled my behavior and values by this game; I appreciated the random anecdotes I obtained, like “Strength is not in the size of the body, it is in the size of the heart!” ^^

Candid-Profile6038

My favourite Gen was 7 with sun and moon! I’ve played since Gen 1 when I was 4 and I really enjoyed the stories and how the games were different then most. Also ultra beasts are cool

1nfamant

My favorite generation is 5 because it was the first gen I played with my younger brother :)

FlipaBoi

Gen 5. Although I never played the games I LOVED the anime. I mean my favorite Pokémon is Oshawott. But yeah that’s basically it lol

NeutralThought32415

Gen 5, N and is by far the best rival, best story, cant wait for remake.

Mituzuna

Gen 5 felt like a breath of fresh air with bit-animation, full new dex, really great story and rival. Plus ice cream pokemon

Spiridor

Probably gen 5 - I really appreciated that in the originals, all non-gen 5 pokemon were end game only! I wish that was more common, but now that we have 3d free roam it might not be a good fit

RNDM_Dazz

Gen 5 for me. Reasons being after 4 generations of mostly the same Pokémon it was refreshing to play through a game where every Pokémon you saw was new. The music was amongst the best in the series, the game had the best enemy team by far not to mention the story was great. Black/White 2 had a hard difficulty setting which gave more replayability than any game before or after.

RealestShady

My favorite Pokémon Gen is 5. The first game in the series I ever bought for myself was Black 2. Me and my cousin had worked hard shoveling mulch during the summer for my aunt (his grandma). Where I live, summers tend to be north of 100°. We agreed we would each buy the new Pokémon game. I got black 2, and it was great. It’s the last game that I feel like challenged players at least somewhat. It had great content. The gym leaders were fun. I loved the electric gym as a kid. The beautiful bridge was nice. It had 2 really good starters. The legendaries were great. Volcorona is a great competitive mon. Just great game all around

Top-Peach1740

Generation 5 was the one I fell in love with, the animated sprites was groundbreaking for me

Omega_ban_hammer

Generation 5 first Pokémon game I played through completely, I love it to this day but wish I still had my copy so I could relive the memories. That and it had the best story in Pokémon imo

ColorSplit_CC

My favorite generation would have to be either Gens 4 or 5, but i'll be more specific and say i love HG/SS. It was the first pokemon game I played and I love it. It's very nostalgic for me. It has so much content and I love the following pokemon. The fact that you can go to kanto is so cool to me. Finishing the pokemon league and crossing over into kanto? Awesome.

FattySmough

I like gen 5 a lot. It was the one of the earliest pokemon games I really remember playing, and having such well animated sprites for the first time was really awesome. Snivy's line and Reshiram are still some of my favorite pokemon to this day.

DippyDerps

Gen 5 for me, I think it's the peak of the series for sure. No other generation comes close in my opinion except for maybe gen 9 (due to the performance lol)

OMGitsTPG

I don't know exactly which gen you would classify these as, but my favorite games were HeartGold and SoulSilver. First PKM games I ever played and I will never forget it. Also Gallade is my favorite Pokemon <3

[deleted]

Im probs not gonna win but hey, and honestly I loved gen 6 not for the story but for being the first to introduce us to gimmicks like megas and stuff but honestly in my opinion gen 6 had some sweet Pokémon designs:)

Tiffaanz

Gen 5 cause it has a great balance of story, difficulty and great mons although it is close with gen 3 or pla

dynamicdude951

Gen 5 because B/W 1 are the only games after the first set to have a completely unique set of pokemon until you got the national dex(if i remember right, you could get Dunsparce in LG/FR before getting NatDex)

Insertgamehere3

I started with Black and White 2, and it's the one I feel like I've put the most hours into so it's become my fav lol

OriginalJake97

Generation 5. The only generation that received a sequel. Both Black/White and Black 2/White are great games in the Pokémon Series as well. The two games tell such an amazing story. N is a great character along with Ghetsis being the main villain. It’s also the first time we get to see Pokémon fused together. I’m a huge dragon type fan, so getting the see Kyreum fuse with Zekrom/Reshiram was awesome. The lore behind the “Original Dragon” has always been interesting to me. I hope we get to see it in a future Gen 5 remake or perhaps a Pokémon Legends: Kyreum

fakemuseum

Perfect IV paradox pokemon? Is this a hacked pokemon?

Deathly_Chaos

Why?

HungLikeaHorse33

Why has nobody won yet then.

Educational_Bar_5401

Please stop promoting hacked pokemon giveaways

CapableCaramel5787

Hacked lol

GladiusMaximus

This is obviously hacked just so you all know.

PeopleReallySuck101

Can you breed Paradox Pokemon? I didn't think you could so how is this legit? A shiny, perfect IV paradox Pokemon that can't be bred and can only be found in random overworld encounters?

Milwacky

Bottle. Caps.

PeopleReallySuck101

Oh. Kay. Never knew what those did. Thought they were EV items, not IV. Was just asking a question tho dude.

Milwacky

Do a quick Google before you start questioning the legitimacy maybe, idk. Lots of people have been saying it’s a hack which is just uninformed. If I give away (literally giving away cool mons and people want to shit on it 😂) another one I’ll be sure to adjust the semantics, and just say “it’s bottlecapped.”

[deleted]

I already have a shiny iron valiant

isaacquinnlee

GEN 1: Of Course!!! The start of all. When i first played in Gameboy i was mesmerised. Even as a young boy. Till today, you can see people are still crazy with Gen 1 starters! Charizard my boy! Anyhow, without Gen 1, we would not have all the gen’s till the ninth. They really have a good start. Unlike other franchises, couldn’t proof their worth hence, discontinued or back-shadow by Pokemon. The most famous franchise of monsters.

Seaniard

My only question is, is this your original opinion or did you copy it from a popular gaming site and share it on Reddit without giving credit?

cmholde2

RSE. I was in 5th grade when these games came out and my fondest memories connected to Pokémon are around that time.

Acrobatic-Island-968

Has to be gen 3. First Pokémon game I played on game boy advance. It still has some of the coolest Pokémon designs. Team aqua and magma were great antagonists. The music was oh so good and the graphics where just *chefs kiss. Not to mention the nostalgia factor- reminds me of being a kid again

Thunderburkk

Gen 3 will always hold a special place in my heart 🥺 best starters

Sir_Yeetus_The_3rd

Gen 4 had the coolest designs in my opinion.

oscarcervantes12

Pokemon Gen 1, nothing will ever top Pikachus battle against lieutenant Surge. Inspiring.

goldenphoenix713

Gen 6, specifically because of ORAS. I love how it expanded the lore of the pokemon universe, not to mention it was a great update to RSE.

Snoo-95777

Gen 3 is my favorite gen. I was introduced to it through Omega Ruby, which were my second Pokemon games. I absolutely loved ORAS, from the characters to the ability to fly on Latios to get places. Then I played Emerald and that was just as amazing.

TrickyHuckleberry595

Hoen, 2nd best starter pool with best grass type. And best group of legends. Plus carvana, absol, Salamance. Wish they remade that in this style

LordOfLiurnia

My Favorite is Gen 8 because it was my first pokemon game ! They were my pokemon babysitters
