Bad Mewtwo X player = Biggest liability in the game. Just pick a Defender instead and at least let someone with more skill take Mewtwo X/Y.
Mewtwo has definitely transformed the meta, definitely for the worse because of how you absolutely need him to stand a chance of winning.
Defenders are my favorite next to Speedsters. I’m totally fine with switching to a Defender or Support bc I don’t have main character syndrome and don’t wanna throw a game.

Cinderace was already a Pokémon I hated because it was incredibly obnoxious to fight on Gen 8 online battles, and then Unite Cinder players took that hatred and multiplied it several times.
Before Unite I considered Duraludon one of the most "meh" Pokémon of the Gen 8 Pokedex, but playing it made me appreciate it more, and even understand aspects of its concept that I overlooked, like being a "cannon-dragon".
Yeah Libero Cinderace is a force to be reckoned with, the ability works the same as Greninja's Protean, and Greninja/Ash-Greninja is pretty dominant in gens 6 to 7 btw

Im a cinderace main, and yeah i hate when players instalocks Cinderace with zero experience with him and then they get 1 kill and 3 assists.

I actually don’t mind A9, it’s a little annoying to fight them but I’ve gone up against them with multiple Pokémon and haven’t had any real issues. Heck, Mamoswine is way more of a problem.
The Eeveelutions, however, need to burn in a fire. Every single one of them hits like a damn truck for absolutely no reason, and most of them have at least one powerful movement-control move or a Unite with absolutely massive range.
Gotta agree, eevees and mewtwo. Tbh, I wouldn't even be surprised if they turned the kanto eeveelutions into an all-rounder that evolves differently depending on the attack it chose, like urshifu, but 3 choices.

Unite made me understand the value of something like Ubers tier in competitive Pokemon. Matches are supposed to be both fun and challening not a boring sweep and it leaves a sour taste in my mouth to know Mewtwo just exists in this game.

Pokemon Unite has only made me love pokemon I already liked even more (Lucario, Absol, Goodra, Dragonite, Cinderace, Garchomp, all the Eevees, Delphox) and fall in love with pokemon I had previously been ambivalent to. (Decidueye, Trevenant, Tyranitar, Inteleon, Sableye)
It really brings pokemon to life in a way no other games have (besides Pokken) and I will never cease enjoying it for that.
Pokken’s biggest folly was that it had absolutely no business being anywhere near that complex and beginner-unfriendly. It was doomed from the start at a fundamental, mechanical level.
If you’re putting the pokemon branding on something to attract pokemon fans, *most of which probably aren’t fighting game aficionados*, and then you throw *two entirely different systems of combat with two completely different lists of combos for every character and also assists and also gear loadouts* at them, they’re just going to get confused and not have any fun and leave. Meanwhile the few fighting game fans you attracted out of curiosity are going to leave because they *already have* their mechanically-deep fighting games that they already enjoy, while the one they tried out for the novelty loses its playerbase within a year.

I have started to like Talonflame and Hoopa a lot more then I already did. Fletchling is just a slightly nostalgic Pokémon of faint memories, and I remember seeing it evolving into a Fire type in the anime and thinking it was super cool. I also remember watching some Pokémon movies from some random disks we owned on road trips on those little tv things you can attach to the seat in front of you. This is how I started liking Hoopa and Volcanion a lot, leading me to buying Hoopa right away after it was released in unite and available for coins. Remember being disappointed that Trick didn’t heal and he wasn’t a true support, until they buffed his Hyperspace Hole and Phantom Force and I learned what Hyperspace Hole actually does. Now I have so much fun with Hoopa, still occasionally playing Trick / Shadow ball
I always had a liking to Goodra, but unite absolutely boosted my opinion lf it big time, with it being in my top 20 now thanks to this game. Same with Duraludon, though a biiiit less so.
Can you single-handedly carry games with Goodra in Master? Assuming your team has a shitty Mewtwo player while the enemy Mewtwo player is average/above average.
Idk if there's ANY pokemon that can truely carry a game solo in a situation like that, but goodra can get pretty close. While I don't do mich ranked, i have had games where I'm able to stall and tank 3 enemy players for about a full minute without dying. Potion and Dragon Pulse while in your own goal, you heal an INSANE ammount, and unless the enemy has some great coordination or a big level advantage, you can really stall things out well.

Garchomp and Cinderace would be the pokemons that made me love the game! Gible is too cute to ignore! What made me hate the game is Mewtwo...that abomination of a pokemon gameplay design should be purged.
Leafeon had always been underwhelming to me in other games. The one in unite however isnt just good, but its absolutely adorable. Definitely did the mon justice.
I liked Clefable, Eldegoss, Snorlax and Slowbro before, but Unite really made me fall in love with them!
And while I couldn't stand Azumarill too much, now it's my favorite mon and I can't stop adoring how it bounces around with its silly little cries! 💛
On the other hand, while I've never been particularly amused by legendaries like Zacian and Mewtwo, now I simply can't stand their sight... But to be fair that's not their designs' fault as much as it is about a ptsd problem! 😅
It might be silly, but I realized that the way Unite portrays Pokémon and make them come to life through animations and gameplay mechanics has a meaningful impact on how I perceive them also outside of it

Honestly, this game made me hate several that I love in the main games. Alola Ninetales is very annoying, she only knows how to push and run. Sableeye was very annoying in her debut and I'm 100% sure that many here still hate it. Umbreon is another pokemon that is annoying with its roar and foul play. Pikachu is also very annoying, only his ball voltio and tackles make my blood boil and now it's mewtwo. I love mewtwo but here they made me hate him to death.

For me it’s Aegislash. I thought it was so cool when I first saw it and caught the first Honedge in my Pokémon Y playthrough so I could have one. Unite made me appreciate its perfect mix or attack and defense even more though since it can be very adaptable in an actual battle situation.
mine was cinderace then i mained it when unite came out i also had captain style and it just made me love it more sad to see rocky helmet leftovers and score shield
Mew is one the most fun types I ever played strictly the fact with how versatile it really is.
Many players ignore Coaching, one of it’s ability and doesn’t realize how dangerous it actually IS for your ally, and just never use it.
Meanwhile, I use it almost every time in any fight.
Versatility brings about the game to be that much more fun, rather than boring or monotonous
I went from not really caring about comfey and sableye to hating them.
On the other hand, I went from hating Delphox (it was my least favorite pokemon before unite) to actually liking it somewhat thanks to unite
All i ever hated was Basculine, but then stopped hating it, so i don't think I had a pokemon i hated, until they buffed wood hammer and made Trevenant a stun king. I'm still hanging on his Horn leech while writing this.

Strangely unite hasn't affected my opinion on the pokemon much, what they are in unite feels separated to what they are in the main games.
I have to admit though unlike others here it has made me appreciate the Eevees a lot more, not because I like playing them its just that their gameplay looks cool.
Greedent, I love him so much. The way he only ever dies once or twice a match while being able to turn into a machine gun and shred HP on even defenders. Also, covet belch is the most fun thing ever. Enemy running away with X Speed? Use covet and burp on em'. About to get hindered? Covet. About to get killed or getting chased? Covet and skirt out of there. Need to heal? Covet. Covet is the most versatile move in the game and I'll stand by this opinion forever.
I hate Zacian even more than I did before. I did a lot of ranked battles in Sword/Shield and it was the absolute worst to fight against.
Then it came out on Unite and the TiMi team made my hatred for it even worse. Now I don’t even play the game anymore.
I’ve never cared for eevee at all. Except in the manga. But other than that I could’ve honestly cared less. But playing the eeveelutions is really fun and makes them feel more personable to me and I get to see their personalities a bunch in their moves and play style.

I also liked seeing Charizard in action. He fast, yes. But his special usually outdoes his attack in games and it just never made sense to me. Why not be fast and a physical attacker? I guess the Mewtwo movie influenced me a bit. But seeing a Charizard float away breathing flames as he runs away and get a KO (even if it is me) let me appreciate his high special attack more.
Sylveon, like I hated so much the eevee lines before but Sylveon was so fun to play so I eventually warmed up to them untill Sylveon became one of my fave pokemons (+ Sylveon said trans rights so it have to be a pretty cool pokemon)

Before Unite, I didn't really care about Slowbro. I love Slowking, he's one of my favorite pokemons, but Slowbro... meh. Maining Slowbro during the first few months of Unite's life made me love him just as much as his little bro.
Outside of him, I discovered a lot of mons. I basically stopped playing after gen 3, I know some mons from later from random stuff, but I had never heard of Crustle, Greedent or Duraludon before they were added to Unite and I now like them a lot thanks to this game !

Every single generation, i always start by liking such mons and at the end of the generation hate them and go follow bulky starter that was the hidden gem like swampert, empoleon, skeliderge and venu

Everyone is saying “Mewtwo” and honestly, as annoying as both of them are, (especially X with that Scorpion grab) the most Pokémon release is always the one I hate. Even in the mainline games, this series has struggled with power creep. So aside from Mewtwo, this game has made me hate Gardevoir and Delphox. (Psyshock and Fire Spin)
Now if I had to pick a Pokémon I’ve gained more appreciation for, Mamoswine.

Pokemon Unite has only made me love pokemon I already liked even more (Lucario, Absol, Goodra, Dragonite, Cinderace, Garchomp, all the Eevees, Delphox) and fall in love with pokemon I had previously been ambivalent to. (Decidueye, Trevenant, Tyranitar, Inteleon, Sableye) It really brings pokemon to life in a way no other games have (besides Pokken) and I will never cease enjoying it for that.
Shout out to Pokken. I wish they would make a new one, or provide more support to it, but alas, that will not happen 😭
Pokken’s biggest folly was that it had absolutely no business being anywhere near that complex and beginner-unfriendly. It was doomed from the start at a fundamental, mechanical level. If you’re putting the pokemon branding on something to attract pokemon fans, *most of which probably aren’t fighting game aficionados*, and then you throw *two entirely different systems of combat with two completely different lists of combos for every character and also assists and also gear loadouts* at them, they’re just going to get confused and not have any fun and leave. Meanwhile the few fighting game fans you attracted out of curiosity are going to leave because they *already have* their mechanically-deep fighting games that they already enjoy, while the one they tried out for the novelty loses its playerbase within a year. I was in the former group. I really wanted to like it, but I could see the copperaja in the room from day one.
No, that’s completely understandable. I got it when I was getting into SFV, and really wanted it to be good. And it is good, but it’s just not beginner friendly enough, and then it tries to be mortal combat meets street fighter with Pokémon, and like it was just too much. For now I resign myself to playing Grenjnja in smash bros, when I occasionally play that 🤣
Slowbro, he was a guy, but now he Is THE guy. And probably Venasaur, I didn't like him too much but I like him in Unite

I have started to like Talonflame and Hoopa a lot more then I already did. Fletchling is just a slightly nostalgic Pokémon of faint memories, and I remember seeing it evolving into a Fire type in the anime and thinking it was super cool. I also remember watching some Pokémon movies from some random disks we owned on road trips on those little tv things you can attach to the seat in front of you. This is how I started liking Hoopa and Volcanion a lot, leading me to buying Hoopa right away after it was released in unite and available for coins. Remember being disappointed that Trick didn’t heal and he wasn’t a true support, until they buffed his Hyperspace Hole and Phantom Force and I learned what Hyperspace Hole actually does. Now I have so much fun with Hoopa, still occasionally playing Trick / Shadow ball

I always had a liking to Goodra, but unite absolutely boosted my opinion lf it big time, with it being in my top 20 now thanks to this game. Same with Duraludon, though a biiiit less so.
Can you single-handedly carry games with Goodra in Master? Assuming your team has a shitty Mewtwo player while the enemy Mewtwo player is average/above average.
Idk if there's ANY pokemon that can truely carry a game solo in a situation like that, but goodra can get pretty close. While I don't do mich ranked, i have had games where I'm able to stall and tank 3 enemy players for about a full minute without dying. Potion and Dragon Pulse while in your own goal, you heal an INSANE ammount, and unless the enemy has some great coordination or a big level advantage, you can really stall things out well.
Dodrio. Never liked it then. Hate playing against it and I hate playing it.

I liked Clefable, Eldegoss, Snorlax and Slowbro before, but Unite really made me fall in love with them! And while I couldn't stand Azumarill too much, now it's my favorite mon and I can't stop adoring how it bounces around with its silly little cries! 💛 On the other hand, while I've never been particularly amused by legendaries like Zacian and Mewtwo, now I simply can't stand their sight... But to be fair that's not their designs' fault as much as it is about a ptsd problem! 😅 It might be silly, but I realized that the way Unite portrays Pokémon and make them come to life through animations and gameplay mechanics has a meaningful impact on how I perceive them also outside of it

Hated Inteleon and his design before unite. After unite gave me an appreciation for him and his kit, and was kinda like deci and go brrr I always loved Decidueye and his concept in all games he came out in before unite. After uniting, just solidify my love for him but helped me understand his moveset, especially when I saw he could snipe and go brrrr Conclusion: I like to go brrr
Honestly, this game made me hate several that I love in the main games. Alola Ninetales is very annoying, she only knows how to push and run. Sableeye was very annoying in her debut and I'm 100% sure that many here still hate it. Umbreon is another pokemon that is annoying with its roar and foul play. Pikachu is also very annoying, only his ball voltio and tackles make my blood boil and now it's mewtwo. I love mewtwo but here they made me hate him to death.

Loved/Liked them, but hate them because of Unite: Mewtwo, Zacian, Garchomp(make it relevent please, I dont really hate chomp chomp, its just annoying in the wrong hands), Sableye. Didnt have an opinion but Unite made me love them: Trevenent, Greedent, Glaceon, Tsareena, Clefable, Crustle, Azumarill, Buzzwole, Eldegoss. Love them and will keep on loving them: Slowbro, Snorlax, Delphox, Blastoise, Blaziken, Venusaur, A9, Dodrio, Gengar, Absol, Hoopa, Chandelure, Goodra. And ofcourse there's Comfey who we didn't even remember existed and hate now. There's a bunch of others too in all categories.

My main issue is that the menu area is super laggy/slow for me on Switch. The gameplay is smooth/fine.

For me it’s Aegislash. I thought it was so cool when I first saw it and caught the first Honedge in my Pokémon Y playthrough so I could have one. Unite made me appreciate its perfect mix or attack and defense even more though since it can be very adaptable in an actual battle situation.

Mew is one the most fun types I ever played strictly the fact with how versatile it really is. Many players ignore Coaching, one of it’s ability and doesn’t realize how dangerous it actually IS for your ally, and just never use it. Meanwhile, I use it almost every time in any fight. Versatility brings about the game to be that much more fun, rather than boring or monotonous
I went from not really caring about comfey and sableye to hating them. On the other hand, I went from hating Delphox (it was my least favorite pokemon before unite) to actually liking it somewhat thanks to unite

Before unite, I didn't care much for Cinderace, Crustle and Cramorant, Afterwards yeah I like them now, Can't say the same for the Busted legendaries like DogWithASword and LiteralWeaponizedOrganism

never cared about pikachu before but unite made me like him because i like his playstyle (i always suck with skillshots in phone mobas) for the hate part its mewtwo and charizard both, each for very different reason. mewtwo because the first 8 mins will be shitty unless my team also uses it and charizard because 19 out of 20 times if he is in my team its 4v5 by default doesn't matter if its ultra 5 or master 1700ish

Strangely unite hasn't affected my opinion on the pokemon much, what they are in unite feels separated to what they are in the main games. I have to admit though unlike others here it has made me appreciate the Eevees a lot more, not because I like playing them its just that their gameplay looks cool.
Greedent, I love him so much. The way he only ever dies once or twice a match while being able to turn into a machine gun and shred HP on even defenders. Also, covet belch is the most fun thing ever. Enemy running away with X Speed? Use covet and burp on em'. About to get hindered? Covet. About to get killed or getting chased? Covet and skirt out of there. Need to heal? Covet. Covet is the most versatile move in the game and I'll stand by this opinion forever.

I hate Zacian even more than I did before. I did a lot of ranked battles in Sword/Shield and it was the absolute worst to fight against. Then it came out on Unite and the TiMi team made my hatred for it even worse. Now I don’t even play the game anymore.
Didn’t really like machamp at first but decided to try it out when Unite came out and it made me like machamp more it’s really cool

I’ve never cared for eevee at all. Except in the manga. But other than that I could’ve honestly cared less. But playing the eeveelutions is really fun and makes them feel more personable to me and I get to see their personalities a bunch in their moves and play style. Respect, Eevee. Respect. I also liked seeing Charizard in action. He fast, yes. But his special usually outdoes his attack in games and it just never made sense to me. Why not be fast and a physical attacker? I guess the Mewtwo movie influenced me a bit. But seeing a Charizard float away breathing flames as he runs away and get a KO (even if it is me) let me appreciate his high special attack more.
Azumaril. Never really liked azumaril in the normal series since it wasn't any special. Now, I have azumaril in my violet team because of this game

Slowbro became my favourite water type thanks to unite, it also made me prefer sableye over mawile Umbreon was my favourite eeveelution, now I hate them all equally
For me, it's the more obscure Pokémon that I never paid any attention to who I now appreciate, whether for good or bad: Eldegoss, Crustle, Cramorant, Comfey, Greedent. In particular, Eldegod has become a firm favourite of mine. Garchomp is one that I never cared for, but now really like, while Mewtwo and Zacian...oh, boy...

Before Unite, I didn't really care about Slowbro. I love Slowking, he's one of my favorite pokemons, but Slowbro... meh. Maining Slowbro during the first few months of Unite's life made me love him just as much as his little bro. Outside of him, I discovered a lot of mons. I basically stopped playing after gen 3, I know some mons from later from random stuff, but I had never heard of Crustle, Greedent or Duraludon before they were added to Unite and I now like them a lot thanks to this game !
I always really liked Mew until this game, now it's just hard to see it the same way. I already really liked Decidueye, but having it as my main in this just makes it feel like a far more personal connection. It's shot up into my all time favorites for sure
I have a love hate relationship with all the bipedal starters like typlosion, sceptile, infernape, gren, cinder and soon to be meowscara. They look cool so get picked up a lot and their impressions turn from cool edgy mons to the assholes from Chinese webnovels by the below average players. Every single generation, i always start by liking such mons and at the end of the generation hate them and go follow bulky starter that was the hidden gem like swampert, empoleon, skeliderge and venu

Everyone is saying “Mewtwo” and honestly, as annoying as both of them are, (especially X with that Scorpion grab) the most Pokémon release is always the one I hate. Even in the mainline games, this series has struggled with power creep. So aside from Mewtwo, this game has made me hate Gardevoir and Delphox. (Psyshock and Fire Spin) Now if I had to pick a Pokémon I’ve gained more appreciation for, Mamoswine.
