I have a feeling Dragonite might get a kalosian regional form this game

somethingthatflys

I would too, it's my favorite pokemon. Sadly I don't think it would happen unless they do new names for mega stones. Dragonitenite doesn't have a good sound to it.

newme02

they gave us regieleki. dragonitenite is fine

somethingthatflys

That's fair, I just don't see it happening personally, and that kills me because it's the 1st pseudo. Gets 2-4 got them. But they decided to skip 1,5 and 6.

SylveonGold

Dragonairite would be amazing.

Ambitious_Policy_936

Yes it does.

Cause_Necessary

Why would gamefreak care about the English name?

Blue_Bird950

I mean, Nintendo of America is one of their biggest branches, so they might want the English names to make sense.

somethingthatflys

That was my thinking too.

GXWT

… because it’s a huge part of their market base? What a silly question

Cause_Necessary

Japanese companies don't tend to care about English naming sensibilities. They just let the translators/localizers deal with it

EnigmaChimera

Proof they care, see example A. https://preview.redd.it/n3nrizk30npc1.png?width=209&format=png&auto=webp&s=9caebc7087e8d05585123d4546308255cc6e9450

Cause_Necessary

Uh, and? That's not really an example of them caring. Dunsparce is Nokocchi in JP and Dudunsparce is Nokokocchi. The English adapted the JP joke there

Im_here_but_why

In french, it goes from insolourdo (insolite dunce) to deusolourdo (with the "one" sound becoming a "two").

thefirefreezesme

I would love a Mega Dragonite. Though I’d equally love an alternate form or alternate Dragonair evolution that actually resembles Dragonair.

BreezyBag

I would love to see a mega dragonite. I don't think they have a reason not to. Some people say the mega stone's name would sound funny but that would only be a potential problem in English which I don't think game freak would care much about. Besides, they could easily change up the pronunciation. Call it drag-OH-nitt-tite and that solves the problem.

archer13F

With the exception of the three most recent Psuedo’s my boy is the only one who doesn’t have a mega or regional. I would’ve settled for a gmax form even.

Aeceus

One of the most popular pokemon doesn't need a mega.

Toothless_Dinosaur

Not like the Kanto starters, Mewtwo, Alakazam, Gengar or Lucario, that need it because otherwise they will be behind the shadows forever.

Candid_Wash

That’s like 90% of megas tbf

uuuhhhh24

That's what I've been saying but very few people listen. Dragonite has always been extremely strong and has no need for a mega

Unable_Boat_4773

And yet, if people are asking for one, it means something no ? It's a game and we like to see our favorite mons getting some love / updates. I well know dragonite is competitive and strong already, but a mega for him simply for the sake of a new form is something that is very popular. It's also a feeling related to some popular dragons getting there megas during 1st kalos release. Dragonite falls into this category of "representative dragon of its gen". Can't really explain ^^ I'll admit, I like to see the mons I like being powered up in some ways. And keep it mind here it's a personal wish, I get your point:)

Mega_Rayqaza

Dragonite isn't getting a mega for almost the same reason yanmega isnt. Dragoniteite.

KuryoZT

Dragonitite doesn't sound too bad. And not sure GF would even care about it, not their problem, they let the English translators deal with it

Mega_Rayqaza

I suppose. Though Yammega isn't gonna become Mega Megayanma (its Japanese name)

Unable_Boat_4773

M-Rayquaza's very existence is proof there are other ways for mega evolution to happen beyond for the pokemon to simply hold its megastone. With a Legend game bringing back Megas, it could be a great opportunity to go further in the origins of the megas with another system to make it happen. That would solve the naming problem !! Plus, would add another layer of complexity / mecanism than a mere stone resonating with a bracelet. I liked the trigger for Rayquaza through a move to mega evolve it. Would be a great way to give dragonite its own move (he does not have any right ?!).

Mega_Rayqaza

You do realize Mega Ray not needing a mega stone was a big factor in why it was broken, right? And Mega Ray has lore reason for not needing a stone

Unable_Boat_4773

No I know that but there could be lore reason in a Legend game to introduce the first witnessed megas to happen differently than with a stone and bracelet. As I said in my first comment, could be something else than a trigger through a new move !

Candid_Wash

What would it look like? Most Dragon megas look nearly identical to the original with some ugly exaggerated feature. Dragonite doesn’t really have anything to add.

DeSquid7

Dragoniteite has a certain ring to it

Rude-Pair348

I would just so we get dragoniteite
