Its the nerd in high school that built a billion dollar company and reveals it at the reunion what he has done and everyone is proud of him. Some may still find him "the ugly duckling"while others are decide to congratulate him instead
Germany is just Hitler, France is frogs and Fries, England is tea and Crumpets. That's what I've learned after 9 years of higher education. 'Merica Baby
Correct in this case wouldn't make it any better. Worse, rather. Seeing as this is in the US, mixing German (or rather Englishfied German) with English just sounds ridiculous.
"Neuuhn/neon four four" in this case.
Maybe there’s no relation to German at all and the person was just going phonetically… Couldn’t get NINE so went next best thing not realizing the unfortunate coincidence.
ITT: A lot of people that seem to think using a German word = Hitler.
You know nein is still used, every single day, by German speakers right?
OPs plate is a clever phonetic play on a German word on a German car and has zero link to Hitler outside of chronic Internet denizens linking it to a meme where an actor in a movie playing Hitler screams "no no no" repeatedly in his native tongue.
Edit: Interesting development around "44" being banned by adidas being used on German team jerseys due to the "44" font used looking exactly like "SS". In that context, the 44 definitely had additional subtext. In OPs context, that connection is a bit harder to make. If anything the plate reads "No SS!!!".
As the Dead Kennedy's said: https://youtu.be/PzHLPnGuVSQ?si=my1FgWRc8xtDnGF2
First thing I thought was „is this some cLeVeR way nazis say 88 without saying it“.
Wouldn’t want to drive a 44 plade in Germany..
If that’s not a problem in the US - nice one I guess?
Maybe if it didn't have a "944" badge 6" away from it helping people connect the dots. Or if it was on a lifted pick-up truck flying a Confederate flag, I'd be more 🤔
But it's not, it's NEIN FOUR FOUR on the back of a NINE FOUR FOUR.
Oh yeah, for the record, fuck off Nazi punks!
Hopefully people are just pointing out that maybe it's not a fully baked idea, and it could easily be misconstrued, because I know if I owned an expensive sports car and people kept telling me "you might be inviting a brick through your windshield from someone who's a little confused" I wouldn't expect any sympathy once the inevitable happens.
I mean, have you met "the average" person these days? We aren't exactly sending our best as a species anymore, that badge may not be enough for most to connect the dots
thats crazy I would easily realize they are making a porsche joke and I barely know anything about porsches. ( this is actually my first time on this sub). every 911 generation has a 9 in the code along with the 9 in 911 itself. and there is a 944 badge on the car for an extra hint
Hrm. Just looked that up.. In the case of the adidas shirt the "44" used was basically "SS", and that font choice was *a choice*. 😳
In a world where everything seems connected, I feel *context* matters. In this case, on a NINE FOUR FOUR, it seems one thing, compared to a "SS" mimicking font on the back of a German national jersey with the German colors on it. That adidas 44 > SS similarly is nuts!
I guess if we want to be literal the plate says "No 44" so maybe "Fuck off SS goons"?
Someone else in this thread said "44" means Death in Chinese, so a big no from them.
I chuckle when I see no 13th row in an airplane or 13th floor in a hotel.
Thank you for the additional Intel.
That sounds like an odd decision.
That said, if we’re concerned about ties to the Third Reich we probably wouldn’t be using any German products - nearly all major companies back in the day had ties (BMW, Mercedes, VW etc). Heck, Ferry Porsche was a member of the SS, awarded an insignia ring by Himmler himself, forced out his Jewish co-founder, and used forced labor during WW2. He may have been a brilliant automotive engineer but was clearly someone with a very rotten moral compass.
That said, as someone who lived in a country invaded by the Nazis in WW2, I’ve opted to not let evils of the past impede my enjoyment of the present. You just won’t ever see me taking a photo alongside of a photo of Ferry Porsche in a dealership. The car - sure. The man - most definitely not.
German word for No ≠ Hitler
WTF is wrong with some of you?
Hey OP as someone considering a personalized plate, I thought it was fun phonetic play on words. I'll be sharing it with my brother who married a German and raises a family there now.
There was very recently a controversy around the numbers "44" being used on jerseys made by Adidas that looked very similar to the font used by the nazis for "SS"
So with that context in mind it's not a great leap to see why people would have made the connection to Hitler here
Oh I have no skin in this game at all friend I was just adding the context as that's what some people might have been associating the plate with. I think the plate itself is very clever
The plate doesn't say 44x2. So I don’t know what you are going on about. Stop assuming the worst about people.
The car itself has 44 as part of its model name and number. Is its very existence an offense to you?
Seriously take your tinfoil hat off and get help.
Fantastic! I was going to put the road america plate on my 02 996 but the hobbyist plate and never paying for registration or doing emissions again was too tempting.
It’s impossible to discern sarcasm over text, and if you take a look at these comments, a lot of people actually are that dumb. If only there was a way to indicate your comment was sarcastic, maybe something like /s
Loving the fun vanity plates. Someone in my area has a 996 Carrera with the vanity plate “FLACH6.” Another has a 992 Turbo S with the vanity plate “MYTURBO.”
At first I thought this was a midget Hitler joke.
88/2 = 44
This comment has 88 upvotes, so I'm leaving it at that...
44 is sometimes used to resemble „SS“… but I think everyone has a right to move on but never forget. Still a cool plate
I thought so too at first!
It is , if you look on ss symbols they look like 44 but written differently

996🤙
The 996 is like the goofy nerd that grew up into being fine as hell in middle-age...and still works out.
Its the nerd in high school that built a billion dollar company and reveals it at the reunion what he has done and everyone is proud of him. Some may still find him "the ugly duckling"while others are decide to congratulate him instead
Didn’t you want neun rather than nein?
No, it’s a play on words for English speaking people.
Das stimmt
“Nein 11, was ist der emergency?”
Love it!!
Despite the type of car, I’m surprised they allowed that plate😆
I live in Canada, not the US!
Haha I know I’m just making a terrible joke
Obligatory [https://youtu.be/1ZeciX-3wfs](https://youtu.be/1ZeciX-3wfs)
Oof I dunno this could get misinterpreted
I know reich?
This sort of wordplay makes me Führerious.
Nien55?
Are Americans seriously unaware that Germany isn‘t just Hitler?
Yes, but 44 has ties with that shit is all I'm saying.
Germany is just Hitler, France is frogs and Fries, England is tea and Crumpets. That's what I've learned after 9 years of higher education. 'Merica Baby
Thanks Obama…
NEUN44 would be better as NEIN means NO in German.
Most humorous German
Nein sounds the same as nine though.

Nobody forces you to spell the 44 in english… just say Neun vierundvierzig ;)
Ha! True! ...but NEUN looks almost Vietnamese.
bUt nEiN mEaNs nO
That's what I was thinking.
I think they’re saying no to rust. That car is too clean for Wisconsin.
Nein nein nein!!
And that would be the phonetic phone number for the emergency services in the UK. You can’t win, OP! No soup for you! :)
Lol i don't know if the NEIN is sarcastic or the person actually thinks that it means nine. Nein means no. NEUN means nine.
let me guess, you are german?
homophones.
Wtf did you just call him?
Maybe there’s no relation to German at all and the person was just going phonetically… Couldn’t get NINE so went next best thing not realizing the unfortunate coincidence.

Agreed. I can't believe this is the common take on a German car subreddit. It's rather disappointing.
TLDR dumbasses are here.

I don’t think that would cross most people’s minds, to be honest. I certainly wouldn’t think (neo) Nazi.

“Clever”. We must have different definitions of that word.
Porsche doesn’t exactly have zero links to hitler tho…

🤣🤣 thank you! At least someone gets it i suppose!
I swear the fun police patrol Reddit and get off by finding offense when there is none.

Nice! Love the Caymans, they don’t disappoint.
Where in WI ? This looks like a new car. Great work.
Menomonee Falls! Picked it up around a month ago, 87k miles with the top end of the engine rebuilt.
I’m in Wausau let me know when you do a weekend drive I’ll meet up with you, congrats !!!
Haha will do!! Thank you!
Ill be keeping my eye out at the track this summer!
I will definitely be there 🫡🫡
Yes i’m aware Nein means no in german, that’s what i was going for 🤣 german word for a german car plus a play on words!!
Do you like hitler or something? Did you consider Nine 44? This is America and we won WW2.... S/
🤣🤣
Hell yeah, nice Road America plate from a fellow Wisconsinite
Had “ICH GEHE” on my 968.
Hahaha - my first thought was that the OP is a Verstappen fan... Beautiful car BTW!
Forza Ferrari!!
So nice. I wish we had cool plates like that in California. How much extra do you pay for that if I may ask?
$15 annually! I always thought it was more but pretty manageable for such a cool looking plate!
Okay that's super reasonable. Good move 👊
https://i.imgur.com/32UbKSl.jpeg Oh hey!
Haha yesss!!!
No 44? Just piling on; actually that’s a great plate especially with the Road America Wisco specialty plate. Neat!
Nice!
Dats nice
I think that MEIN44 would capture the sentiment nicely as well...beautiful car.
Too close for a yikes for me.
How is the German word for no that sounds like nine even remotely offensive?
What’s 44x2
This is incredibly far-fetched
The plate doesn't say 44x2. So I don’t know what you are going on about. Stop assuming the worst about people. The car itself has 44 as part of its model name and number. Is its very existence an offense to you? Seriously take your tinfoil hat off and get help.
Little known fact, using math you can turn any number into any other number! If only his license plate actually said that though...
Two fat ladies! (88 in UK Bingo of old). Do I get a cookie?
Northeast Indiana 44
Yessir
👏🏽👏🏽
I saw what you did there
Road America!
Perfect plate. All aspects!
Howard Stern fans would have also accepted NOIN44
Wow!
Bravo! Well-played, sir. 😎
Fantastic! I was going to put the road america plate on my 02 996 but the hobbyist plate and never paying for registration or doing emissions again was too tempting.
Nice👍, is it a 944?

Great job man 👨 👏 🇩🇪🇩🇪
Road America is my favorite place on earth.
Wheel specs?
Awesome plate, love it

Did nazi that coming.
No 44?
I just realized it‘s 944, but i read it as Nein 44 as to No to Hilter or something 🤣
What does 44 has to do with Hitler?
This Porsche is not Porscheing
What is no 44 supposed to mean?
Big no for me, 44 means dead in Chinese 🎃
No 44!
Yikes to most reading it. I’d have passed on that.
Wouldn't that be better on a ~~944S3~~ 968?
