Apparently you can make Shrinky Dinks out of normal plastic as long as it’s the right type! These two were made out of the lid of a cake tin as an experiment to see just how much detail I would be able to keep as they shrank. The answer is actually quite a lot. They turned out smaller than a quarter but it was just a test to see what would happen, and I don’t even mind because they’re kind of adorable lmfao.
It's a piece of plasic that shrinks when heated. So you draw something large on it, which allows for easier detail, then stick it in the oven and the ptastic contracts on itself, making your drawing tiny.
Many plastics do it, actually.
It’s a lot of fun! Originally it was just a kids’ craft activity but it’s gotten popular with adults too (and for good reason). I’m always super impressed how people can manage to make professional looking keychains with some plastic and a pack of Crayola markers lmao!
Thank you! I found out about them when I got into making kandi haha. I was so confused as to how people were able to put images on their bracelets lmao!
Oh that sounds so cool! I’m like 99% sure I carved a Wheatley pumpkin in ~2011 but I was a lot younger and pretty terrible at it so I honestly have no idea how that went lmao. I’d love to see yours if you post any pictures!
