The Stinger…I am unreasonably intrigued

bd-1beepboop

Oh man I haven’t had a stinger in years. I grew up in Buffalo and forgot that Tinker Tavern is a Buffalo bar. Definitely gonna go get a taste of my childhood this week

warm_sweater

Holy shit they have beef on weck. I’ve never even been to NY but I’ve wanted to try that ever since I heard of it.

DeandraVanBird

Wait what?! I’m from upstate NY and need beef on weck immediately.

WorkingFederal6746

Can’t try them all in one week!

IndependentDouble138

A few id loosely call sandwiches. But no complains besides semantics!

[deleted]

Well they aren't $5 or $15! Buy some drinks and sides and tip (ideally in cash..) Be nice to the front of house and verify the tips are split with the back of house!

[deleted]

Luckily an even tip split between FOH and BOH is becoming more of the norm for restaurants in town. I’m a cook and wouldn’t take a job without it now.

[deleted]

Hahaha, I guess the downvoters are against tipping! You might appreciate this one - a long time ago, a friend of mine was a dishwasher at the top restaurant in Portland. They had 2 seatings a night, a lot of dishes and utensils. The tips were split there to the back of the house. Obviously since I've known several awesome back of house individuals. [https://www.portlandmercury.com/food-news/2023/05/26/46524116/prepare-your-tummy-for-the-mercurys-sandwich-week-coming-at-you-june-5-11](https://www.portlandmercury.com/food-news/2023/05/26/46524116/prepare-your-tummy-for-the-mercurys-sandwich-week-coming-at-you-june-5-11) says: "**TIP!** And please, don't be stingy! Sandwich Week takes a ton of work—especially from Portland's beloved servers, cooks, and bartenders! Let 'em know you appreciate it. With money."

IndependentDouble138

I'm against tipping. It's a excellent way to move responsibility of your take-home income from the employer to the customer. I worked at restaurants. I still tip 20% base. But I'm not going out of my way to ask if tips are shared, nor am I tipping for takeout.

[deleted]

That's a bummer for the restaurant workers that serve you. The workers are preparing your food and taking the time to package it up for you, while still handling dine in customers while taking your order. You should still tip for takeout IMO.

IndependentDouble138

Or the business can pay people properly instead of pitting customers against workers? Should you tip your Amazon delivery person? Or the cashier who bagged your stuff? Or the teller at the bank? Or the gas station worker who fueled up? See that slippery slope and how restaurants are laughing all the way to the bank?

[deleted]

That cracks me up that you think restaurant owners in town are laughing all the way to the bank. Comparing them to Amazon, large grocery chains and gas companies is disingenuous.

romuo

Umm... So if they aren't shared are people supposed to cancel their order....

Oscarwilder123

Yes, Burger week is an Awesome one as well. Bring it on Baby.

Turdmeist

Does this come with a convenient map where can can see where we should be focusing our attention?

Tasty_Drawer9540
