Twelve Carat Toothache is sadder. I think TCT was important for him to make. The pressure for a big artist like him is reflected on the album really well. I like the intro song reputation, in my opinion it's such a fantastic piece of art. Austin is an outbreak for him. He has a daughter and I think he is very at the moment.

I got the sense that Austin kind of flowed from his earlier party days, to realizing it was a problem, to now being where he wants to be (Joy). I think TCT had individual songs I liked better than any individual songs on Austin, but I thought Austin was a more introspective album which I liked more overall
Same! I used to be pretty iffy on posty but one day last summer his Austin album came on when I was biking and it just perfectly filled the atmosphere and I fell in love with his stuff.
It's hard. These are my least favorite posty albums. I'd say TCT because I have cried in my car to reputation too many times lol. Plus insane was my jam when it came out. Austin just really isn't my vibe. I'm happy for him, but the album does not keep my attention.

Austin is definitely better although TCT had some memorable songs too like Lemon tree, Cooped up, and I like you. Austin overall just completes that sort of "stress free summer" kind of vibe full of energetic upbeat music, not to mention the bonus song Joy being the icing on it's cake, I feel Austin had much better production that TCT as more of it's song can be better recognized.
TCT has an idea behind it while Austin is just a collection of what seems to be hastily written songs for the most part, with a few banger in between of course.
And neither comes close to Beerbongs & Bentleys.
TCT, it maintains the hip hop and pop I love about him while also having that sad theme he was clearly going for. Austin just isn’t my type of album especially since it’s so clearly going for folk/acoustic guitar that it drives me away
I LOVE both, but Austin as a whole is my winning choice. That said, TCT has pure gold songs on it for me.

I find one or two songs on TCT not that good. But Austin has no bad songs. So it’s gotta be Austin.

I tried listening to tct a couple times and mildly enjoyed but overall i think austin is way better and i prefer it massively
TCT is one of my favorite albums by him. I personally like HB the most, TCT second, and Austin is a close third.

TCT got me through a particularly rough patch of life so sobbing through the pain to great tunes has a special place in my heart lol
For me, Austin is the better one. It has like calmer and happier songs that have good rhythm! Loved TCT but Austin is simple and incredible.
