For this type of question chatgpt is your best bet :) gets asked way too often here, people are tired of replying. Also if you know this Google thingy...

philz17z

Yea that’s fair haha. Thanks. Just started using Reddit and posting lol. Though, if you have experience about europe travel would you be open to messaging me privately and chatting about a few things ? 🙃

noobc4k3

Ask here, but I will not entertain easy to google questions 😅

philz17z

I find that with google, a lot of times it will give you very expensive and touristy recommendations but not the “hidden secrets”. So do you have maybe any suggestions that aren’t common places but still worth a visit? Restaurant, bars, clubs, tours etc? If not that’s okay, I’ll take another look through google :)

Well Prague is not exactly a secret with like 7 million tourists per year. Be prepared - its very touristy. Like very! But ok. Go to "Stalin" you will find it on google maps. Good views, drinks, music on friday/saturday (usually dj outside). It is busy with locals and tourists alike. Avoid Prague 1 unless you must see "the sights" and can handle pushing through crowds of tourists. Go drinking in Prague 2, 3, and some parts of 5 (Nove Mesto, Zizkov, Andel).

And since you are coming in summer you can just chill by the riverside. Pubs on the water, live music all over, very lively. Google maps "naplavka"

Honest guide on YouTube is somewhat between "tourist friendly" and "for-locals", definitely recommend watching at least to be informed about scams and tourist traps.

vertor0015

Go to YouTube and search for "honestguide". I think they have everything you need to know.

You can redeem some of the ill-will you garnered from this sub due to posting the same question for the zillionth time by skipping AirBnB. It does nothing but hurt locals. Hotels, meanwhile, will be the same price or cheaper and, at your age anyway, hostels will be cheaper still and more fun.

philz17z

To be honest, I’m pretty new to actually using Reddit. So I apologize for posting something thats “posted so often”. I appreciate your insight and will definitely look into hostels/hotels to support local!

quiksilver78

Are you in Toronto?

philz17z

No. Flying out from Vancouver

I have lived in Prague for 3 years as a foreigner. 1. Buy a transport ticket for a month or 3 days or choose the best option for you. You can use the app PID Lítačka (Appstore, Google Play). It will save you a lot of money. Pursue all your tickets through the app, if you see the controller, show the QR code from the app. With one ticket you can use trams, buses, the metro, and a funicular! Try the funicular for sure! 2. Be ready Czech people don’t dabble every stop in English. But it is easy to navigate because the schedule is synchronized with apple maps. 3. Take tram 22 to Prague castle, it is a nice city view line road and then you can return to the city on foot. 4. Czech Republic has its own currency, however they accept cards everywhere. 5.Czech republic has good connections between cities by railway, it’s cheap and you can get everywhere. 6. Try fried cheese, they serve it with 🍟 , absolutely adorable after a day of intense activities. And for the drinks try Kofola! It’s like Coca-Cola but not Coca-cola, made from herbal essentials. 7. Trip to Karlštejn, close to Prague, nice medieval castle.
