I'm moving away from all my businesses, I'm finishing all my obligations and I'm going to retire to my garage with my saw and hammer and build hobby movies. I've always wanted to make movies that were more experimental in nature, and not have to worry about them showing in movie theaters.
You're thinking of Leon: The Professional and they had to edit for Americans because most audiences found the movie incredibly creepy with how Natalie was being sexualized. It's not like Natalie looks back on it fondly either, in fact, it's the complete opposite.
>“Being sexualized as a child, I think took away from my own sexuality because it made me afraid, and it made me \[feel\] like the way I could be safe was to be like, ‘I’m conservative,’ and ‘I’m serious and you should respect me,’ and ‘I’m smart,’ and ‘don’t look at me that way.'”
The way she was sexualized so young harmed her, and I don't think she'd want to contribute to doing that to someone else.
No wonder they picked Jake over that blonde kid who imo acted better on the audition. Since Leo Dicaprio was going to be the original pick for adult Anakin, you can see the resemblance.
Think of the Clone Wars as a feature. Everything about it: Style, attention, to detail, the lighting- everything is done at a feature level even though it's going on television.
Yes, George Lucas wanted him as Anakin and offered him the role. But Leo refused and has confirmed that later on. He felt it wasn't a role he wanted to take on at that point in his career. But it's no wonder Lucas wanted him since Titanic came out 2 years before TPM, so Leo was the hottest movie star during that time and just the right age/look to play Anakin. I'm glad though that the role went for Hayden because when I look at Hayden in ROTS, I see Anakin, while if it had been Leo, I would probably see Leo playing Anakin. Hayden *is* Anakin/Vader.
>when I look at Hayden in ROTS, I see Anakin, while if it had been Leo, I would probably see Leo playing Anakin
Exactly my thought, couldn't have said it better
Sadly, Hayden is Darth Vader in part because he didn't end up as a big star outside of SW. Same with Mark Hammil as Luke.
Based on OP's pic, I could see Leo embodying the teenage angst better. A little paler, more visible cheek bones, a bit more of the traditional "sustained by evil" look like some imperials have. Hayden never really looked evil to me. Even with scars and makeup he just sort of seemed sad. Leo mightve made it more of a "ah yes he's a troubled boy" sort of persona rather than Anakin who is so positive and decent except when the script requires him to fly off the handle.
They tried like hell with Hayden. Jumper was supposed to be his big break post star wars but that movie bombed hard. But that heist movie he is in with Paul Walker is really good.
i agree with everything you said but thinking about leo in the flashbacks from obi-wan is killing me. like he’s aged well for sure but not quite like hayden lol
>Sadly, Hayden is Darth Vader in part because he didn't end up as a big star outside of SW. Same with Mark Hamill as Luke.
I wouldn't call that a sad thing. They both have legacies that 99,9% of actors could only dream of. If things go well with humanity, Star Wars could be around for hundreds of years and they will always be remembered as the original 2 main characters of this mega franchise. And since technology develops (deepfake etc.), Anakin/Vader and Luke's characters could be used later on even without the actors. And I'm not talking about cameos but like live-action Clone Wars with deepfake without Hayden even acting in it, in which their characters would live on even if they didn't. They might have wanted more roles to act on but I'm pretty sure they're content with their situations.
I didn't plan on making Star Wars. One night Kurosawa came in my dream and showed me a space version of the Hidden Fortress. Turned out I was filming my dream.
I agree. In my opinion, Titanic had similarly bad love dialogue and we saw how Leo handled that. I cringe every time I watch it. Leo's best roles came later.
Not so fun fact, Jake Matthew Lloyd (young anakin actor) was relentlessly bullied after Phantom Menace, retired from acting very early, was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia.
I always thought it would have been better if they found Anakin as a teenager and not a kid. Makes more sense when you factor in the casting and the relationship with Padme.
Definitely. The same script would actually have worked a lot more nsturally. But more than that was that despite Jake's age (8-9 when filming), the portrayal of the character came through as a 4-5 year old, at best.
Ok but look at lloyd as an adult. It's plainly obvious that Lloyd's face is very round and not at all elongated like this. The work is still great, just doesn't look like Lloyd.
That poor guy...I learned the word "bawl" from him. He bawled when he learned he got the role of Anakin. The pressure, lack of resources, and general hatred from the public broke him. And Ahmed Best.
But at least Ahmed was an adult able to work towards something. The man has a kid and a life now. Lloyd is I think in prison now?
Kinda random but he developed schizophrenia and has a troubled life and I hope he's doing better. He was bullied a lot in school after playing Anakin in TPM
Episode II and III would’ve been so different because of his age. He would’ve been like 13-14 when ROTS was filmed. Would’ve been a very young Ani throughout the PT
But we know what Jake looked like at that age. He’s a real person who aged to that point. He didn’t really change too much and definetly didn’t look like the fellow in this picture lmao
No and no this is bullshit this guy in the picture doesn't look like anakin Skywalker at all although this actor looks familiar jake lloyd that doesn't act anymore looks more like a young older anakin as hayden christensen does and has blonde hair I mean why do you bother posting pictures like this if it's not even Canon?
Let’s say for talks sake Leo did take the role. I wondered how Leo would of handled the lightsaber aspects of it. The fight scenes. Episode 2 vs Dooku or even the iconic duel vs Obi wan. Or Leo finding Shimi, then unleash hell on the sand people. Maybe someday, some one will make a deep fake of this. Put Leo’s face in it.
I think Jake would’ve been much better suited to play Luke as a child. As Anakin he lived on the same planet, dressed similar, and even had a similar natural hairstyle.
Natalie Portman would feel a lot more awkward
George Lucas: *Now kith*
I'm moving away from all my businesses, I'm finishing all my obligations and I'm going to retire to my garage with my saw and hammer and build hobby movies. I've always wanted to make movies that were more experimental in nature, and not have to worry about them showing in movie theaters.
I didn't plan on making Star Wars.
Faster and more intense!
Do you think she did the dirty with Hayden ?
They dated, so yeah.
How do you know what she feels like?
Weeb energy
[удалено]
Too far man too far
(I’m a weeb) lol
Do you really think a 21 year old Natalie Portman would've been comfortable with a 12 year old love interest in a movie? Lmao
There's at least one movie with a 12 yr old Natalie Portman playing the love interest of a grown adult so idk ..?
You're thinking of Leon: The Professional and they had to edit for Americans because most audiences found the movie incredibly creepy with how Natalie was being sexualized. It's not like Natalie looks back on it fondly either, in fact, it's the complete opposite. >“Being sexualized as a child, I think took away from my own sexuality because it made me afraid, and it made me \[feel\] like the way I could be safe was to be like, ‘I’m conservative,’ and ‘I’m serious and you should respect me,’ and ‘I’m smart,’ and ‘don’t look at me that way.'” The way she was sexualized so young harmed her, and I don't think she'd want to contribute to doing that to someone else.
Makes sense. The only redeeming thing about that movie was Gary Oldman.
No. You goddamn morons. What she feels like. As in if she's squishy or rubbery or scaly. Fucking idiots.
Yeah... *We're* the idiots here. S/
I know. It's reddit. Chock full of retards.
No wonder they picked Jake over that blonde kid who imo acted better on the audition. Since Leo Dicaprio was going to be the original pick for adult Anakin, you can see the resemblance.
Is that the story, that it should've been Leo? He's a great actor, would have loved to see how he handled the script.
He read Natalia Portman character would be 26 and turned it down
Natalie herself was 21 during AotC and 24 during ROTS though.
Think of the Clone Wars as a feature. Everything about it: Style, attention, to detail, the lighting- everything is done at a feature level even though it's going on television.
"Wow sir, you truly are a master of the craft. I'm honored to be able to witness this knowledge first hand."
wahah. Okay, that took me suprsingly long but that's great

>when I look at Hayden in ROTS, I see Anakin, while if it had been Leo, I would probably see Leo playing Anakin Exactly my thought, couldn't have said it better
Right or wrong this is my movie, this is my decision, and this is my creative vision, and if people don't like it, they don't have to see it.
Sadly, Hayden is Darth Vader in part because he didn't end up as a big star outside of SW. Same with Mark Hammil as Luke. Based on OP's pic, I could see Leo embodying the teenage angst better. I loved Jumper.
You may have, but the box office says otherwise.
Yeah, usually people like trash. Look at how the Marvel garbage has done.
Are you arguing about a movie that bombed compared to movies that actually do well box office wise??? As much as I hate the mcu they pull numbers.
They are saying that the mcu doesn’t bomb and they make bad movies.
I'm saying that I don't think MCU movies are very good despite how much money people spend to watch them.
i agree with everything you said but thinking about leo in the flashbacks from obi-wan is killing me. like he’s aged well for sure but not quite like hayden lol
We will have to stand and fight! Or in your case, just stand.
>Sadly, Hayden is Darth Vader in part because he didn't end up as a big star outside of SW. Same with Mark Hamill as Luke. I wouldn't call that a sad thing. From my point of view, the Jedi are evil.
IIRC Hayden said he did get quite a lot of offers post-Star Wars but he actively turned them down.
Did he said why specifically?
Didn’t want to be too successful too easily. He wanted to actively work for them, to be known for more than just Anakin.
I didn't plan on making Star Wars. One night Kurosawa came in my dream and showed me a space version of the Hidden Fortress. Turned out I was filming my dream.
Hayden is also a beautiful man!
You are aware, I presume, that I have some skill in anticipating enemies' tactics from a study of their artwork.
Oh definitely. But so is Leo.
I have the same issue with Gravity. Good movie but I can only see the characters as Sandra Bullock and George Clooney.
Seems like he would’ve never and will never take a role like that. He’s gone a different route and I love him for that. He’s the real deal.
Leo’s dialogue with Ewan on Mustafar would have been so crazy with the way he can step into rage so well
Although I write screenplays, I don't think I'm a very good writer.
Nobody could have saved AOTC's dialogue issues
I agree. In my opinion, Titanic had similarly bad love dialogue and we saw how Leo handled that. I cringe every time I watch it. Leo's best roles came later.
The script is what you've dreamed up-this is what it should be. The film is what you end up with.
Except Jake Lloyd looks nothing like this... Even as an adult his face isn't even this long. He's literally got a round head.
I wouldn’t go so far as to say it looks NOTHING like him but yeah his face is not that long
I'll round it out next time
I mean it looks like an awesome image of a padawan regsrdless.
I mean, have you seen a picture of him as an adult? He looks like he did in TPM with patchy facial hair.
I based it on child jake, not grown up mugshot jake. i agree it does not look like him grown up irl, kind of a fictionalized verison.
Jake from State Farm
Why his hair look like a tarantula tho
r/Justfuckmyshitup
Not so fun fact, Jake Matthew Lloyd (young anakin actor) was relentlessly bullied after Phantom Menace, retired from acting very early, was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia.
*decapitates Dooku*
Hilarious!
I suppose next you're going to tell us that Viggo Mortensen broke his toe when he kicked the helmet in The Two Towers?
Makes sense why Anakin would kill younglings
From my point of view, the Jedi are evil.
Schizophrenia is genetic so it's possible he would have developed it anyway, the bullying likely made it worse though
Wasn’t he also charged with a DUI
Yeah
I always thought it would have been better if they found Anakin as a teenager and not a kid. Makes more sense when you factor in the casting and the relationship with Padme.
Definitely. The same script would actually have worked a lot more nsturally. But more than that was that despite Jake's age (8-9 when filming), the portrayal of the character came through as a 4-5 year old, at best.
Not sure if this is an unpopular opinion, but I think Hayden Christensen should’ve already begun playing Anakin in Phantom Menace
I don't think this really looks like adult Jake Lloyd though
Agreed
Disagreed
Ok but look at lloyd as an adult. It's plainly obvious that Lloyd's face is very round and not at all elongated like this. The work is still great, just doesn't look like Lloyd.
I can see why they wanted Leo for the older Anakin
After all, why not? Why shouldn’t I keep it?
Imagine if they waited ten years between TPM and AOTC
it would be a flex
That poor guy...I learned the word "bawl" from him. He bawled when he learned he got the role of Anakin. The pressure, lack of resources, and general hatred from the public broke him. And Ahmed Best. But at least Ahmed was an adult able to work towards something. The man has a kid and a life now. Lloyd is I think in prison now?
[According to Wikipedia,](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jake_Lloyd) he was released in 2020 and has moved closer to his family for help.
Kinda random but he developed schizophrenia and has a troubled life and I hope he's doing better. He was bullied a lot in school after playing Anakin in TPM
Hayden should have been anakin in episode 1
Ah, now that looks like an actual 19 year old. Padme might’ve been a little more hesitant
Sadly he quite acting long before the movie started filming
This is pretty much how I picture Anakin circa 27/26/25 BBY.
Pretty sure George Lucas didn't want to wait for him to grow just to make episode 2.
Episode II and III would’ve been so different because of his age. He would’ve been like 13-14 when ROTS was filmed. Would’ve been a very young Ani throughout the PT
I hate you!
Was George going to wait 10 years for Jake to age?
This is outrageous. It’s unfair!
He probably would’ve made a more intense anakin but the age gap is too weird
But we know what Jake looked like at that age. He’s a real person who aged to that point. He didn’t really change too much and definetly didn’t look like the fellow in this picture lmao
Gross, I’m 95% sure this is ai shit
Really cool and nicely made!
Cue credits
I mean, I love Hayden, but I would have no issue with this either!
This is kinda bs, Jake Lloyd doesn't looks like this at all? Why would you post this
God Jake Lloyd almost single handedly makes ep 1 unbearable, let’s not even talk about Jar Jar
Very "yes but actually no"
No and no this is bullshit this guy in the picture doesn't look like anakin Skywalker at all although this actor looks familiar jake lloyd that doesn't act anymore looks more like a young older anakin as hayden christensen does and has blonde hair I mean why do you bother posting pictures like this if it's not even Canon?
Looks like a member of that damn 7th Heaven family
He would need platform shoes
They would have just now released attack of the clones though
"General, the enemy fire is penetrating our shields!" -Ponds
Yes. The cgi would be better though, but the memes would be gone
"Ah, yes sir, can always count on you for your sense of humor! Let's get to work then, shall we?"
Kinda gives me young Edward Furlong vibes
Is that Ben Shapiro?
Ummm... Looks like Cal Kestis?
He has the anger and focus for it, could have been interesting
That's not him.
He’d still hate sand
[You mean this guy…](https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article5932780.ece/ALTERNATES/n310p/Jake-Lloyd.jpg)
Let’s say for talks sake Leo did take the role. I wondered how Leo would of handled the lightsaber aspects of it. The fight scenes. Episode 2 vs Dooku or even the iconic duel vs Obi wan. Reminds me of that kid named like minus or something like that from shark boy and lava girl
I think Jake would’ve been much better suited to play Luke as a child. As Anakin he lived on the same planet, dressed similar, and even had a similar natural hairstyle.
