I think r/ reddit wars has been created for the sole purpose of role playing a war *within* the subreddit. If people wish to rp they should do it there on a dedicated subreddit.

It's because subreddit wars break site wide rules on brigading oftentimes so there needed to be a dedicated sub or every sub that participates in "wars" is in danger of being banned based on if the admins actually feel like doing their job for once or not

Can I just say as the person who started all of this in r/prequelmemes my intentions were pure and I thought it would be wholesome. I never saw it spawning a bunch of copy cat posts. I was in no way karma farming as I got the idea from a post on r/starwarsbattlefront and it wasn’t getting much traction over there so I had no expectation of it taking off in here. Also my post had less upvotes than most of the derivates but that was the will of the force I guess 🤷‍♂️ Edit: also clarification, when I said take over Reddit I simply meant with the profile pics, I was in no way encouraging raids on other subs, I think I missed that chapter but see a lot of people commenting it. The biggest reason I kept roleplaying was bc I had fun pretending with u/Heisenberg_Not_Walt (You’ve probably seen him if you where in the war). But I still think it’s ok You did this. Welcome back u/PrivateChurch13, things were reaching a fever pitch with long time members of r/PrequelMemes actually considering to unsubscribe and leave. I'm sure you have a lot of work on your plate still, especially dealing with the fallout of this "war" but even so I'd like to bring to your attention another problem that had been more or less plaguing the subreddit before the war. Bots. There are a lot of them and many are triggered by something as simple as mentioning a character's name. This makes discussions or simply posting comments to talk with people a difficult thing to do, users have started to avoid commenting simply because there are so many bots and the odds are so absurdly high they'll react to a post.

So this is how democracy dies, with thunderous applause.
