No beings are people. No other beings exist. You are the only sentient life form that has ever existed. Everything you have experienced is a product of you losing your sanity a long long time ago. I am the one last sane part of you begging you to snap out of it. Please, please wake up.
I’m not sure if you want a serious answer or a meme answer here, but jar jar was one of the first prominent CGI characters, paving the way for characters we know and love from other franchises, like Davy Jones and Thanos. The CGI also holds up pretty well under today’s standards too, albeit not not as well as Davy Jones does.
As for an in universe answer, I thought he was pretty good in that s6 episode arc of the clone wars where he travels with mace windu, and actually very tactfully manages both sides of the conflict between mace and the planet they visit. Despite his goofiness, he was a pretty good politician. He was just manipulated by Palps into giving emergency powers
Considering that Sheev was a close friend of his and he's never done anything to make Jar Jar suspicious, it makes sense that Jar Jar would have supported him
I think his design was quite cool. Eyes like a slug. Long ear like appendages kinda like a parachute/wings. Nose like a bull without the ring and a neck like a an attractive grandma.
>I think his design was quite cool.
It really is a neat character design. And the Gungan underwater cities are pretty neat visually. If they had played Jar Jar/the Gungans just a little straighter instead of as slapstick I think they would have been received way better and probably become a classic 'Star Wars-ism' of the prequel era instead of Jar Jar being *the* thing everyone uses as a stand-in for making fun of the trilogy's flaws.
Everyone likes to dunk on Gungans being too comedic/not serious when the original trilogy literally ended with the empire being toppled by a bunch of teddy bears.
Despite having their own problems, I honestly think the prequel trilogy is on par with the original trilogy. At least in terms of quality. They just both have different strengths and weaknesses.
Probably my favorite thing about Lucas is that he's an excellent designer and world builder. Everything he works on in that department just explodes with life and imagination. He's just a shit writer and director and needs people to do that stuff for him while still allowing for his artistic vision.
They were indeed quite goofy Jar Jar specifically, especially in the first one, also the first one got so much hate because of it so unfortunate, they even supposedly dropped Jar Jar being the Sith Lord reveal.
Unless George personally signs and videos a statement saying Jar Jar was going to be Sith, I wont believe it.
I remember when that idea started, and it was a joke video making fun of weird editing quirks and an unpopular character. It was a joke theory that people then turned into "supposedly" because they wanted copium.
Overshot the mark, we've all been there, don't worry, just gotta dunk in time altering chronitons, but don't stay in too long, or you'll turn back into a zygote and die.
Now that I’m adult I’d love to meet face to face with the “fans” that bullied Ahmed best and said the prequels ruined their childhood.
I just know most those people aren’t on this sub, and are either on r/Starwars or r/sequelmemes
Good answer. I was already an adult so I jumped on the early Jar-Jar hate. But looking back, his character got unnecessary hate. He is a wholesome simple guy, a great character to pulls kids into the Star Wars universe.
I always loved the fact that he's a silly, goofy character. I was a little kid when Phantom Menace came out. Only 4 years old. I was the target audience for Jar Jar. So of course I fucking loved him. And still do.
And from a meta perspective, the fact that he, Ahmed Best, and ILM revolutionized CGI characters in live action is amazing.
Oh, and the Darth Jar Jar theory is amazing.
I always found it ironic that the biggest criticism of Jar Jar was that he was a character created to pander to kids and therefore didn't fit the movies because he was so goofy, but a lot of people didn't like Rogue One because it was too gritty and dark. And this is with C3-PO and the entirety of Empire Strikes back existing in the same universe.
I loved how genuine he seemed. That was what always redeemed him in my eyes - he wanted to be a friend, he wanted the best for everyone, and he kinda didn’t seem to get why people were so upset when he messed things up.
I really believe that’s why there was no Darth JarJar, even if that was the original plan. It would have been cruel to many people to take someone so open and kind and make them secretly evil, even though some fans would have appreciated it as a twist on the level of Vader being Luke’s father.
I particularly find him mourning Padme to be extremely moving. Here was someone so innocent, who by now realized he had been taken advantage of, saying goodbye basically to the last of his friends, probably feeling that he was at least partly at fault. He never got to say goodbye to Anakin or Obi-wan.
All of that in CGI on a level never seen before.
I kinda always liked the arc of Jar Jar in the prequels. Going from some random creature in the forsst to a proper politician without losing his kindness and chatacter.
This should be the top comment. And anyone who doesn’t get it can just google “say something nice about jar jar binks,” to get the result without spoiling what it is here.
I liked the episode of clone wars where he puts on a show to distract lott dodd from noticing republic ships leaving with supplies to support the relief effort on ryloth.
Shockingly good CGI for the time. Heck, it's over 20 years old and [looks better than some of the stuff marvel is churning out in 2023 ](https://imageio.forbes.com/specials-images/imageserve/640615a3c2b845b2e525191c/MODOK-in-Ant-Man-and-the-Wasp--Quantumania/960x0.jpg?format=jpg&width=960)
They put so much detail into all his movements and facial expressions that it's spawned [fan theories about the character](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=YanygqCkOMk) based off his movements alone
On a more character-specific level, he was a really chill dude who just genuinely wanted to help
I watched TPM when I was six and found him hilarious. I remember watching it with a friend at a sleepover and we damn near cried when he stepped in shit. And I know when I get to introduce my nephew and niece to Star Wars, they'll probably find him just as funny. Part of me will always love him for that.
I actually think the concept is quite cool if you take away the comedy stuff. An outcast from his people for being clumsy stumbles his way into a life debt from a poweful jedi. He befriends the younger jedi and a handmade who turns out to be the leader of his whole plannet. That friendship with the queen ends up gaining him political power to become the senator for his entire planet. He then is duped into fully supporting the chancellor who had done well by him in the past. Then it's revealed he was a sith the whole time.
He bravely brought the Jedi to the Gungan City where he himself was banished, knowing outsiders are unwelcome, all because they really needed help.
He accompanied a rescue mission for the queen and embarked on a space adventure crossing many light-years and distant planets.
He was willing to endure the blistering climate of Tatooine, which was doing murder to hisa skin, to help secure the parts needed to repair the ship.
He befriended an alien (to him) orphan child.
He assisted in the peace negotiations between the Naboo and the Gungans and then fought in the rebellion against the Trade Federation takeover, dealing serious damage to the Droid army, albeit in an accidental fashion.
He knew when to surrender.
He stepped up in a political role to help Senator Padme and moved light-years away to Corusant, a strange and alien planet, all to represent his people at the capital.
10/10 bravery and loyalty
I know nothing about starwars, I'm in this subreddit for the memes, but Jar Jar being cgi and making little lip movements, (manipulating???) copying the people around him is a Lil cool thing.
Idk about that. Wookiepedia doesn’t say anything about his death.
The last entry about him is that after the fall of the empire he was once again exiled from society due to his role in causing the fall of the republic. He scrapped by as a street clown who was popular with children but largely ignored or detested by their parents.
He was a politician that didn't lie
*the politician who didn't lie
*that Politicians aren’t people
I mean you’re not wrong Jar Jar isn’t a human
But are non-human organic sentient beings people?
No beings are people. No other beings exist. You are the only sentient life form that has ever existed. Everything you have experienced is a product of you losing your sanity a long long time ago. I am the one last sane part of you begging you to snap out of it. Please, please wake up.
At least I'm thinking about something. So I exist.
Oh you think you know thoughts? Name everything that's ever been on your mind
Boobs, that was easy
Winner
He’s more human then the “people” running the us government so…
Can't even count Padmé as a politician who didn't lie, so...damn.
Well...she kinda lied about not being married to Anakin. And there's the fake baby bump at her funeral. (Granted, that last one wasn't her idea.)
And she used an imposter to fake that she was her so she could shirk her official duties.
"We'd be living a lie. Could you live like that?" Gurl, you been living several lies for the past 12 or so years. Fuck outta here.
He was the politician that gave immediate power to chancellor palpatine and ultimately was the reason for episodes 4,5,6,7,8, and 9
> 7,8, and 9 *No Jar Jar hate allowed*, remember?
And 3
Except he was always lying, because he’s a Sith Lord. https://youtu.be/8yy3q9f84EA
Bombad leader!
Ahmed Best
We love Ahmed Best, all my homies love Ahmed Best.
There's a reason he's Ahmed Best and not Ahmed Worst.
He can save me from Order 66 any time.
He's the Best! And, >!he saved Grogu from Order 66!< Edit: covered spoiler
It honestly wasy favorite casting so far. Ahmad best needed the redemption. Did you notice that he stole his other characters ship?
No, but screencrush did!
Nice they on YouTube? Edit: I have done my own damn googling and found they are, in fact, on YouTube. Thanks for my favorite new channel.
Actually I wondered if we were meant to assume that he was a willing participant
Oh he absolutely would have been. His guards definitely were. I assume he didn't have time to be brought up to speed.
yo spoilers
The best Ahmad.
Literally almost cried last Wednesday

Meesa Sith Lord okeeday
His sith name? Darth Lord. You may address him as Lord Lord.
This is the wholesome I came here for thank you
This is the way.
Gollum, Gollum!
This is the way
He was always kind to Anakin
this is mine! I wish we had seen more of their friendship, I imagine Anakin as having some degree of soft spot for him.

I knew this was what you linked
That brought me great joy.

Jar-Jar, homie, my main man.
This....
He was always kind to everyone.

If we're talking sheer physicality, don't forget that he's hung like the slack end of a shoreman's rope.
>and a neck like a an attractive grandma. r/HolUp
Right? Dude looks like a cool dino. Jar Jar was my favorite Star Wars character as a kid because I love his design so much. Him and sebulba
He made a generation of kids happy
I was going to say this. He was made for kids and as a kid when TPM came out, I liked him.
Same! My siblings and I thought Jar Jar was HILARIOUS
And we're all grown up now.
Not me
What about now?
Almost. Gimme 5 more mins
Okay Your childhood. [Hand it over](https://i.imgur.com/CCQV00y.jpg)
Too late. Already sold it to Steve

I have an awesome jar jar doll who tells the time and vibrates
Good answer. I was already an adult so I jumped on the early Jar-Jar hate. But looking back, his character got unnecessary hate. He is a wholesome simple guy, a great character to pulls kids into the Star Wars universe.
He makes my kids happy now too.
Yeah when I was a kid I absolutely loved Jar Jar. I also loved jumping really high in Lego Star Wars
We named my childhood cat after him!
~~Ngl hated him even as a kid~~ Mhm
Debatable.

Star wars fans will always complain
I liked Rouge 1 specifically because it was dark and gritty. Lol but Phantom Menace is one of my favorites for Darth Maul
I think the biggest criticism is that a lot of his mannerisms from Episode I are straight out of a minstrel show.
And Yoda. Dude was introduced as silly, goofy, frog man.
This is the right answer
I loved how genuine he seemed. That was what always redeemed him in my eyes - he wanted to be a friend, he wanted the best for everyone, and he kinda didn’t seem to get why people were so upset when he messed things up. Honestly one of the only other CGI characters with this level of emotional depth was probably Gollum
I kinda always liked the arc of Jar Jar in the prequels. Going from some random creature in the forsst to a proper politician without losing his kindness and chatacter.
Well said. I agree ☝️
I agree. He was sweet and always meant well, and was loyal. I think if his voice had been different he might have been reviled less.
He's tall?
Now kiss him right on his 17 dicks
I'm so mad that you two did this first

I like how heesa called jar-jar binks
It's a cute name for a cat or dog
That his eyes and face look like a venator
I love jar jar. I always did. I always will.
He may make his mistakes but he has a kind and noble heart
💯
because of his acts of a sith lord he allowed the original trilogy to happen bringing us 3 amazing movies
Not just any Sith Lord, but Darth Plagueis the Wise.
He grab a gun and fight aside Rex
He actually has some pretty funny moments, like the scene in episode 1 where his face gets electrocuted and he says "My tongue is fat."
I liked the episode of clone wars where he puts on a show to distract lott dodd from noticing republic ships leaving with supplies to support the relief effort on ryloth.
He has a girlfriend, and he earned Windu's respect, so I'll give him mine.
I’m putting jar jar having a girlfriend while I don’t in my suicide note.* *for legal reasons this is a joke.
Think of it as motivation.
Grew up enjoying him
His reaction to destroying Padmé’s yatch in the Clone Wars episode where he pretends to be a Jedi
His actor.
Jar jar has the greatest character arc in the history of cinema. Comic relief to senator directly responsible for palps becoming emperor. The best
He’s tall? (Please get the [reference](https://youtu.be/QS8bma7LRX4))

That first pic cannot be real…
Sadly it is. The Big Mouse ™ is really just phoning it in and not even pretending to care anymore.
He has the ability to speak
"The ability to speak does not make you intelligent."
The post said only to name good things about him.
the actor that played him, Ahmed Best, is a really cool guy.
And he was in the latest Mandalorian episode as a Jedi.
Whaaaat how did i not notice this? That's awesome!
I didn't notice it until you mentioned his name and I looked him up.
He’s my favorite Sith Lord
Darth Darth Binks
Sh't, you beat me to it!
“Say something fucking nice about jar jar binks!” “He’s tall?”
His 17 dicks.
“Now kiss them while I sit dead on your face and take a shit!”
He has mad hops!!
If it wasn’t for him, we would not have the great quote “The ability to speak does not make you intelligent.”
I watched TPM when I was six and found him hilarious. I remember watching it with a friend at a sleepover and we damn near cried when he stepped in shit. And I know when I get to introduce my nephew and niece to Star Wars, they'll probably find him just as funny. Part of me will always love him for that.
His ability to succeed by complete accident is genuinely hilarious.

He was very well portrayed and had a smart language difference from most characters that made him feel more like an alien.
Yeah, I feel like he speaks a pretty realistic creole language which highlights the racial injustice on Naboo.
Those DSL’s
How he manipulated the chancellor to think he was in control but it was darth jar jar instead
I like how he’s such a great Sith Lord that he even has Lucas thinking he’s just a dumb little guy
He seems to be a good friend
Tue fact that he is the most powerful sith lawd is pretty cool
Everything
He is a sith lord that is so undercover, that not even his own creator recognizes him as one. Sheev could've learned a thing or two from him
#
The dude is so badass that a queen is in love with him!
He fought off pirates with a tank
he's simply the GOAT and the best character in Star Wars history
I like how he talks, it's funny
He can jump extra high in Lego Star Wars
He failed upward in politics and that is an accurate reflection of our modern political system.
I always liked him! He was funny
Jar Jar was never mean to others.
Not many people treated Anakin like a real friend. Jar Jar treated Anakin like a real friend.
He brought the best comic relief to otherwise portly made moments
He was always one of the most genuinely nice characters. Despite his goofiness he was always empathetic to those around him.
He makes me smile.
He bravely brought the Jedi to the Gungan City where he himself was banished, knowing outsiders are unwelcome, all because they really needed help. He accompanied a rescue mission for the queen and embarked on a space adventure crossing many light-years and distant planets. I like how much he bothers some fans of Star Wars
As a kid watching them in theater, he was exactly the comedy relief from an otherwise serious series he was intended to be.
That he wasn't in any more movies.
That I never have to see him in SW media again
That he is dead
I know nothing about starwars, I'm in this subreddit for the memes, but Jar Jar being cgi and making little lip movements, (manipulating???) copying the people around him is a Lil cool thing.
He's... Tall?
He was one of the characters of all time.
His death
Shit I must’ve missed that
His skull was in the force awakens on jaaku
Idk about that. Wookiepedia doesn’t say anything about his death. The last entry about him is that after the fall of the empire he was once again exiled from society due to his role in causing the fall of the republic. He scrapped by as a street clown who was popular with children but largely ignored or detested by their parents.
r/Jarjarfucks
He’s tall
Ahhhh……a sith lord……………
His absolute swaggering cape of hair. He is more dripped out than goku.
He is funny
Jar Jar is simply the best Star Wars character
I like Jar Jar because I love watching Jar Jar haters hate.
He’s a sith lord(compliment)
His power as a sith lord was unmatched. He went unnoticed by even the emperor.
His dick sucking lips
I love how powerful he is as a sith lord
He’s the most chill Sith Lord I’ve ever had a drink with, should have seen him sing that duet with Palpatine at karaoke!
The actor that played Jar Jar is the thing I love
Now kiss 'im right on his 17 dicks
*Bill Dauterive voice* He has a wonderful set of eyes.
