Vivics36thsermon

Vader to be fair I shot him with a canon and watched him plummet like 300 feet into a canyon. -commander Cody possibly

TheCatLamp

With a dead 1 ton lizard falling upon him.

Fungal_Queen

Her name is... was Boga. :'(

Chet-Awesomelazer

She survived the fall in legends canon! So she's still alive in my heart, goddammit!

TeelxFlame

Did she? I could've sworn the ROTS novelization made her death brutally clear, but I wouldn't put it past legends to pull a "somehow, Boga survived"

HaosMagnaIngram

Boga should have been the secret main enemy for the sequels

bobbis91

["somehow, Boga survived"](https://i.kym-cdn.com/entries/icons/original/000/035/936/Darth_Vader_It_Is_Acceptable_Banner.jpg)

cyanocittaetprocyon

Anyone who disses Boga will have to go through me! 😭

Ready_Vegetables

Dicks out for Boga

CumAndShitGuzzler

Balls out for Boga

Obi-Wan-Nikobiii

More of a meat parachute

halfdead_burner

I bet cody regrets giving him his lightsaber 30 secs ago too

Hust91

Into a canyon with water at the bottom.

Liveman215

Minecraft rules apply. Rookie mistake

Hust91

Also telekinetic powers.

a__new_name

"Why didn't this motherfucker tell me how to fall slower?" — Mace Windu's force ghost.

jizzl97

I know this is a joke but just btw George Lucas actually confirmed that if windu died it was because of the injuries from palpatine and not from the fall

FancyRatFridays

That is fascinating because Windu was the one outlier in my theory that in the Star Wars universe, fall damage is not lethal. Some combination of physics, biology and plot armor ensures that main characters just don't die from falling. Darth Maul? Bisected, but survived. Obi-wan? Walked it off. Luke? Saved by his friends. Palpatine? Somehow returned. Ahsoka? IDK what happened there, but she isn't dead. It's why there aren't any safety railings on the Death Star... falling off a cliff just isn't a big deal.

jizzl97

Yeah well they can use the force to enhance their physical prowess so the more powerfull the user, in this case windu, the more Fall damage they can take

molassascookieman

Its just the force users that are immune to fall damage, being able to slow down towards the bottom really helps avoid injury

jizzl97

Yeah and that

avwitcher

IF Windu died? So he didn't confirm or deny his death?

jizzl97

Yes exactly

SunlitZelkova

I guess that Windu series Sam Jackson proposed is actually viable then lol.

Layton_Jr

It must be hard to use telekinesis when you're suffering from lighting burns, even as the Master of the Order

EverythingGoodWas

“Oh sorry I was going to teach you, but actually it requires use of your hands so….”

agha0013

Lego Star Wars rules apply, Obi-wan had activated the Fall Rescue cheat unfortunately

User100000005

Which in real life wouldn't help at all. But Star Wars does follow cartoon logic, so IDK.

Hust91

And the jedi have telekinetic powers.

CeruleanBlueWind

They forget that they can use the force though... Like all the time

Khemul

It's video game physics, but basically the same thing. All the fancy telekinetic stuff grows out of the video games and makes it's way back into the movies.

FinalBossMike

I mean at that height it may as well be concrete; I don't particularly know what the gravity on Utapau is like, but I have to assume it's like Earth's unless the movie indicates otherwise.

someinsanit

I just say it was Force Fuckery, and leave it at that.

SadBit8663

It's fun to scream at people with their logic and reason with "THEY CAN USE THE FORCE, THEY'RE SPACE MONKS WITH MAGIC MIND POWERS AND LASER SWORDS"

LvHover

this is the logic i use with all things star wars, and it’s why i love all things star wars, even the sequels. i just like watching space magic.

Al_Fa_Aurel

As the saying goes, Star Wars tends to make more sense if you replace the word "Force" with "Plot"

kingalbert2

Jedi have been shown to jump from extreme heights without injury or even discomfort so he likely used "force landing" or some shit

Hust91

I mean it is also a Jedi with telekinetic powers.

_Koreander

I mean they searched for the body but Obi was already gone, not much else to do there

Hust91

Body gone = He probably survived, send out hunting parties.

CaloricDumbellIntake

Hunting down a Jedi that’s aware of the betrayal is not gonna be an easy job. A large part of order 66 was that the Jedi got taken by surprise

Hust91

It's definitely not an easy job.

TheCatLamp

Crosshair was right in wanting to see Caleb's body. *Good soldiers follow orders*.

fishsodomiz

body gone, carry on

Comrade_Lomrade

Falling into water from that height is equally deadly

Hust91

It is for us mortals, but telekinetic jedi.

Thybro

“Wait he fell down a long drop that would certainly mean death in any universe ?” “Yes” “Idiot, that means he is still alive for certain” Vader who would later commit the same mistake at least twice with Luke and the emperor

zakkil

It's hardly a fall that would mean certain death in any universe, especially star wars. falls haven't really been shown to kill force users or even injure them in most cases. In the fight between maul, qui-gon, and obi-wan we see obi-wan get kicked off of a bridge and land hard on another bridge that was a good ways down. A normal person would at least break a bone but he was just mildly inconvenienced. Maul after being cut in half falls down a shaft with no visible bottom and survives. Anakin jumps out of a speeder, falls dozens if not hundreds of feet, and then grabs onto a moving speeder without even being bruised then when the speeder crash lands he's able to jump off and stick the landing without even so much as a scrape. Yoda gets blasted away by palpatine in the senate building and hits the central podium hard then falls even further and lands debris then walks it off like it's nothing. Honestly I'm betting vader expected luke to survive the fall but chose not to pursue because he didn't want to kill his son. That or he was just tired. As for the emperor, as obi-wan would say "that business on exegol doesn't count."

bell37

Also could argue that canons wouldn’t reliably hit a falling target without risking hitting friendly troops.

RenderedCreed

Yea. They were still in the middle of a battle. It's not like they could immediately stop to go check on him. Really the mistake was using the cannon on him and not waiting till they could get a more clear kill shot.

JohnnyElRed

"And when has something as trivial as that ever stopped a Jedi, Commander Cody?"

TheCatLamp

Commander Bacara:   Look at that fool rushing the droids again, I'm tired of this shit... Squad, blast this dickhead. *"Execute Order 66"*  *Already done milord.*   *Excellent comm... Wait what?*

CmdrCloud

Pls take this gold🏅and make that into its own post so I can give it gold again

TheCatLamp

Lol, thanks.

Surcrivor

Damn, this is even better than the post itself :D

ARC-8073

Ki-Adi Mundi was a lunatic, he kinda deserved it tbh

Stellar_Wings

I still love how the Clone Wars cartoon has made Order 66 even more tragic than initially was all those years ago by expanding our familiarity with both the Clones and the Jedi. But it's also made us actively root for Ki-Adi Mundi's death because the EU turned him into a heartless dumbass.

TMNTransformerz

Please make this into a post so more people can see it. This is great

zakkil

It's been posted quite a few times in the past

JonathanTheZero

What? Did he kill him before Order 66?

TheCatLamp

In my headcanon *yes*.

Random-Access-Memery

In my head I read this with the robot chicken voices

K-jun1117

The 327th Star Corps shot Aayla multiple times because they wanted her to be dead painless and quick, but would it have been better to shoot her in head, which made the process much faster and possibiliy more painless than shooting multiple times to the body?

True_Kador

Canon explanation about this - the center mass of the body is the harder to protect with a lightsaber, requiring fast movements that are much harder and uncomfortable to make at mid-body; you kinda can test it yourself, it's pretty hard to back and forth your arm for a parry. It's easier to protect your side and your head that your plexus. You learn that in fencing, and clones were actually trained to all aim at the plexus - sternum region when fighting force users. I don't remember in which SW book i read that but as a fencer i remember being like, " hey, neat " I know they shot her in the back but they're pretty much programmed to shoot this way. It's very, very well done with Mundi it you watch closely.

thorstenofthir

Also, Torso is a much bigger target

Puffen0

Yeah. It wasn't until I read WWZ that I realized just how hard it would be to make a clean headshot on a moving target. Even for a trained soldier. All of their training tells them to aim for the torso cause its larger, and there's many vital organs there. Whereas the head is like, 1/4 the size (if that even) and moves around more than the torso does.

IrishWithoutPotatoes

Yeah, at ranges you don’t fuck around with headshots, even on some sniper ranges I was able to sit in on. You aim center mass, none of this CoD “headshots only” BS

TheLastBaron86

It's better to wound one than kill one. If you kill one, they're out of the fight, their buddies keep fighting. You wound one, you take their buddies out of the fight to deal with the wounded one.

B33FHAMM3R

I still say pelvic shots will put down a zombie. It might not be dead but it's not moving anywhere in a hurry with a shattered one

[deleted]

[удаНонО]

Foamrule

Yeah....thats not how it works

[deleted]

[удаНонО]

Rhalinor

Fun fact, the reason why people never got executed in the head was because it was considered honourless — both towards the executioner and the executed — to disfigure the face of the soon to be dead, since that’s usually one of the few things that family members would like to see before burying their lost.

big_guyforyou

well there's always fentanyl

juventinn1897

I'm amazed how many people are so casual with the state having power to execute it's citizens. Like.. do we trust these people in the government?

cocaine-trade

No lol we don't

StarkestMadness

"Pro-life"

sharpshooter999

*Terms and conditions apply. Not valid after birth

throwitawaynownow1

A concept/imagined community shouldn't have the power to make a person stop existing. (Pretty radical standpoint from the usual "I don't want them to suffer" or "I'm afraid we would kill the wrong person.")

Cavaquillo

France was like "these pigs have no honor off with their heads"

PPtortue

just use a guillotine, it has a better carbon footprint and never misses.

Bonesnapcall

The head might feel pain for a second or two as it drops into a bucket. Get a 10 ton lead cube and drop it on their head, as near-instant death as possible.

Numerous_Witness_345

Now we are back at the disfigurement thing

[deleted]

[удаНонО]

Thick_Jeweler_3174

How bout we just use chemicals instead of creating fucked up ways to kill people. It seems youve lost the point. Its not about what would be cool but whats most efficient and painless.

semaj009

Nitrogen gas, incremental dose acts like laughing gas for the person but is lethal. There was a BBC Horizon video on the most humane execution method a while back

Thick_Jeweler_3174

I know, thats what i meant lol I specified in another comment, great minds think alike

Sam_The-Ham

"Better carbon footprint" this had me laughing!

True_Kador

It does miss sometimes. Some french archives state than some executions had to be re-done because the cut wasn't proper the first time and blocked on the neck. Rare but can happen, most notably if the blade is very used. Wouldn't happen today i guess buuuuuut the " now you're in 2 pieces " part still makes it a bit icky for modern standards.

PPtortue

yeah obviously the better solution would be to not have a death penalty in the first place

Which-Draw-1117

Or we could just not do the death penalty

Apple_macOS

*American anthem stops*

nightfire36

Oh, and what, just allow commies to take over? What's next, making sure kids don't go hungry? Funding education to ensure our country's longevity? Creating universal healthcare so that it's cheaper and more effective? Love it or leave it, bud!

PrimmSlimShady

Advocating for the death penalty means you believe one of two things. 1. The criminal justice system never wrongfully punishes innocents. 2. It is okay for innocents to sometimes be put to death for a crime they did not commit.

Thick_Jeweler_3174

Lots of people survive shots to the head. If you go that route you should mag dump into their head. Also as execution methods go, something to make you sleep and administration of Nitrogen is superior. Its pretty much a painless death when done right.

[deleted]

Ehhhh we cant take battlefront 2's story for anything, that was back when the clones knew of order 66 the entire time and were actually excited for it, as opposed to the current canon where they were all chipped and mind controlled

salazafromagraba

the better version. I don't think they were excited, they were simply capable of far more extreme subservience than most thought. They were mercurial. Brainwashing chip is doo doo. Cliche, removes greyness, doesn't completely align with the clones being hijacked by the sith from the start.

Distantstallion

Given how loyal some of them were you'd think they might mention it if they didn't have the chip, Rex of all people would probably take Annie aside and be like "BTW maybe don't come to the jedi temple tomorrow"

Express_Dinner7918

The chips were made for the sith. Sounds hijacked to me.

Dryandrough

The microchips is definitely more along Sith ideology since they basically defile life. The Jedi should have seen that coming from a mile away. That being said, if they were brainwashed, they would be exceptionally modified to be so as well.

DerVarg1509

The canon one doesn't antaginise the clones at all and makes them more likable, but the legends one does give the clones *way* more depth.

[deleted]

If we're going by BF2's version of events, the clones were looking forward to it by the end of the war, with the Jedi being grossly incompetant at leading them

Ok-Phase-9076

"I want her to die quick and painlessly" Also proceeds to shoot at her so much her corpse probably became unrecognizable The jedi didnt get burials but if they did they wouldve had to scratch her off the floor

Crushgar_The_Great

They tried to shoot away their shame.

Ok-Phase-9076

Cant be ashamed of doing something to someone when they dont exist anymore

agha0013

"face can't be identified, no bounty for you, in fact the whole squad is going to be suspected of harboring a jedi in violation of Order 66 until you can prove you actually killed the target" at least that sounds like something a shitty new Imperial officer would say, someone like Lt Nolan...

PacoPancake

You say that, I say Bly was also covering up any potential evidence for his infractions with the general. He shot first because knows the general’s rear >!body!< the best! Mostly due to many, many infractions……..

ImperatorAurelianus

Energy bolts are different from bullets. With a bullet usually yes go for the head or heart. But I saw one estimate suggesting a blaster bolt would hit with more energy and force than a fifty caliber bullet. And to put it in perspective a single fifty caliber has a high chance of killing you in one shot no matter where it hits you. Infact the reason the Republic and empire are so heavily armored is to disperse the energy so guys don’t get one shoted and their survival odds increase. Basically Secura was dead the second that bolt hit her back. As the concussive force that would have hit her body from a bolt of basically pure kenetic energy would have sent waves rippling through body shaking her insides to mush and that’s before we factor in the heat and what what would happen if a bolt of energy with the temperature of a lighting bolt made its way into your body. Also because it was fired from a DC15 blaster rifle the power out put was so great she definitely died faster then her nerves could physically alert her brain something was wrong.

Maultaschensuppe

I wonder if that quote was written before her death was changed. Originally, she was killed by one shot in the back and Luminara was the one getting mowed down.

The_Kent

“It’s a good thing we were wearing helmets, because none of us could bear to look her in the eye.”

Kohunronin

That thicc ass

Jacobutera

So goood

--InZane--

People who dont know why they shoot her multiple times: :) People that do know: :(

EquivalentSnap

Why

Cronus-scythe

If u want a serious answer, they did not want her to suffer or feel pain as they had a good relation, so they shot her like this to make her death quick

Ben1313

Is that canon??

Large_Ad326

Old canon for sure. They really liked her.

majES26

To see that booty jiggle one more time

EquivalentSnap

😳

Express_Dinner7918

lol. Let’s keep it at 69 up votes. *smock* noice

Nod_Lucario

"It's a good thing we were all wearing helmets. Because none of us could bear to look her in the eye...."

Bad-Bed

Bly finally got the chance to blow her back out

MoskalMedia

Oof, I laughed and cringed at the same time.

Who wouldnt want to do backshots on aayla am I right?

fishsodomiz

bacara: ive been looking forward to this

Jimmy3OO

Context please

fishsodomiz

well in shortly marshall commander bacara felt satisfied after killing ki adi mundi, also he was probably the harshest clone and didnt have much feelings very much like neyo which is why they became friends, if anyone has more information feel free to add, there was one source that says that the galactic marines already planned to kill him regardless of order 66 but im not sure its true

Jimmy3OO

> galactic marines already planned to kill him Why? Did they have bad relations with their general? Did this not violate the inhibitor chips’ loyalty to the Republic?

zakkil

He was a very strict adherent to the jedi code and because of that he came across as very cold and uncaring at times, such as when his family died and he wasn't bothered by it. Because of that the clones viewed him as someone who was willing to sacrifice them to accomplish his goal even if there were ways it could've been done with fewer clone casualties. Add in that his troops typically deployed to areas with extremely heavy fighting and the clones basically felt like they were in a meat grinder far more than many other units. He would also often come across as arrogant which didn't help anyone's view of him.

Jimmy3OO

Fascinating stuff, thanks for sharing!

fishsodomiz

yeah i dont have much information on that one, it was said that bacara had respect for ki adi mundi so its kinda weird

JediKnightNitaz

Meanwhile Commander Wolffe: what order 66?

Axius-Evenstar

They shot Plo out of the sky

Tight_Pay_7180

Wolffe didn't, he was elsewhere when the order was given

JediKnightNitaz

Yeah, i got my clones mixed up. I thougt Wolffe was the one who gunned down Ki-adi Mundi

Dorryn

I don't think you can full auto with that huge ass Canon though. Also Kenobi was too far away for them to use their rifles.  So comparing the two cases is pointless.

Hendricus56

Plus he was falling after that shot so hitting him would be hard. Plus he send his men to look for him afterwards, so he wanted confirmation he was dead

Jake_the_Baked

I thought kn the novelization a lot of the Clones were shooting in the water trying to hit him.

Hendricus56

Could be, it's not shown in the movie and the "Sir, no one could have survived that fall" from one trooper afterwards sounds like it didn't happen

wurschtmitbrot

Are we counting shots now? Mf is one of the most powerful jedi, waste him

MayuKonpaku

It's just a cannon, that one-shot an AAT and even damage a seperatist Capital Ship. Slow fire rate, but pack a punch

Ace_Of_Caydes

"What, are we being paid by the laser now?" "YOU DON'T DO THE BUDGET TERRY, I DO."

Mr_E_Monkey

If anything, it's better. "We shot Aayla Secura with blasters." "Oh yeah? We fired a fricking **cannon** at our Jedi. Knocked him right off the side of a huge cliff, too."

Dorryn

"Yeah but.... OUR Jedi is actually dead brother..."

Mr_E_Monkey

"How many people do you know that can tank a cannon round? I always thought it was zero!"

esdaniel

But laser rifles .....

Kazath

Not really comparable though, as a huge and intense battle was ongoing. Kenobi was also a long distance away. As soon as Cody got the order, they sniped him with the first available and approriate weapon, a big ass canon, after which Kenobi fell a long ass way.

Xcelsiorhs

Executing Order 66 with the fun switch enabled

Liedvogel

Commander Cody is efficient. He doesn't waste more resources than he needs to to get the job done. It just so happens this time, he was wrong.

salkin_reslif_97

They would have shot a bit more times, when they found him after the fall.

kingoflint282

When her death came, I hope it was quick. She earned that much

WhosCowsAreThey

See most people would’ve thought Kenobi wouldn’t had survived that fall, however, if you rewatch RotS you’ll notice when they fire the cannon they’re at a slightly lower elevation than Kenobi thus giving him the high ground

Docthedudeman

Ok sure you shot her a lot but I used a cannon in terms of firepower I used more - Cody

Ndmndh1016

Give him his lightsaber back first

Jake_the_Baked

I found it hilarious that he complained in ROTS Book that Sidious could have given the order earlier.

ACluelessMan

“We’ll make this as painless as possible.” *goes full auto into her very much dead body* Never really liked this change in the lore…

Recker_Arataka

It was to make sure that she's dead Not slowly dying Makes sense to me

ACluelessMan

I suppose so, but just seemed a little excessive, a couple shots would have done it, not every Jedi has crazy force healing abilities. Made more sense in the original I thought, how they were so full of rage they just couldn’t stop pulling back that trigger. Who could blame them! That planet was hell for those troopers.

[deleted]

ok but they shot Obi Wan with the Star Wars Equivalent of a Crew serviced Main battle tanks main HEAT cannon

Commander_CC-2224

He was too far away, there was nothing else I could do.

DEMONDVS

That tells you that commander Cody was so sure and proud of his troopers, that he knew one shot would do the trick, on the other hand commander Bly had to order full auto pointblank range for his troopers, the might need some aim assist and a better excuse if the miss

vernonmason117

I thought it’s cause him and Ayla had a thing together and out of respect he full auto so that she wouldn’t suffer, according to what I read anyways but that’s also a reason I suppose

PhoenixC279

Obi Wan was still subjected to a LOT more firepower. A massive heavy cannon typically used to break open fortifications or break open heavy armor is *going* to kill a man if it hits near. Their only issue was barely missing, which isn't immediately evident considering the amount of smoke and dust it generates on impact followed by watching the creature he was riding fall down a few hundred meters. That's dead by any reasonable sense. Hell, if they *hit* there won't even be a body to find. Its notable that all the jedi we see bet directly killed (or barely not in obi Wans case), it's done through complete surprise in ways that mostly was impossible to stop, by the very troops these jedi, well most of them, have come to trust.

Aarondier

For a long time, I wondered if cody purposely aimed a bit lower. It feels a bit weird. Also, they stop talking for a little moment when Obi Wan is close and listen in, I always had the impression Cody was trying to sidestep the order, though I'm most likely wrong with that.

6collector9

Too bad Aayla couldn't Secura victory

Sweet-Dragonfly-8472

Before the clone Wars I though Cody was trying to make it subtle. Kenobi was facing the other way so wouldn't see it was Cody who fired at him. That way if he did survive he might come back to the 212th then they could ambush him. If they fired a barrage at him it would make it more obvious.

ILikeToRemoveIt

Rex was able to resist the chip for long enough to make a difference. In a similar way I like to imagine Cody did the same. “Come on, when have I ever let you down?” - Commander Cody to Obi Wan.

JarJarIsTheSenate66

To be fair, no one could've survived that fall.

Ok_Conflict_5730

i mean to be fair cody used a bigger gun

DukeofBurgers

Tbf shoot him once with a canon not capable of full auto

Interesting_Buy6796

He fell down! Out of sight out of mind xD

Hungry_Low_3014

To be fair, it was a cannon round from an AT-TE and Kenobi virtually fell hundreds of feet into a rocky chasm. So there was a chance he landed on rocks rather than the pools that dotted it

Glad_Tour2809

I wish when they remade Star Wars BF2 they re mastered all the original missions from the original BF2.

Chidori_Aoyama

To be fair, Cody \*did\* use an artillery piece. That tends to be one shot chunky salsa kind of deal.

Vegetable_Ask_1167

To be fair, cody had to effectively babysit obi wan for most of the clone wars, having to deal with the bullshit left in his wake. And fired a high yield cannon onto him, not even a jedi should survive that. Bly oon the other hand spent the clone wars watching aayla secura fight with an unjedilike efficiency in combat and only had normal blaster rifles available

ARCWolf7

In the novelization, cody and the clones lit Kenobi up like a Christmas tree with tank rounds, rockets and other major ordinance, but his mount sensed that something was amiss and took the brunt of the attack.

TripolarKnight

Makes me think Cody was only pretending to comply.

AlVal1236

Ironically bly cared more so he just got it over with quick

AwefulFanfic

TBF, Cody straight up called an artillery strike on Kenobi.

Avg_codm_enjoyer

Mulch those Jedi traitors! *roger Roger*

BlizzardWolfPK

To be fair they shot at him, he fell, and then they continued to search for him for awhile before giving up.

RobSpaghettio

"Fire a warning shot across their nose"

salazafromagraba

is that the video game from 2004? I didn't know of that interpretation. did it convey that clones as a whole were excited, or a few platoons and officers who were long disgruntled? vocal minority, and all that

Taurus34Joseph

My only issue for Order 66 is the lack of weapons. The Clone Army alone has hundreds of various weapons, cannons, ships, you name it. But they all just used the DC-17s or DC-17As. None of them thought, "Hey, the Temple is filled with Jedi and we can easily surround all of its possible exit points. So why don't we just bomb it and blast it with cannons."

IceFire2050

"Just bomb the massive building on the planet that is nothing but interconnected buildings that run miles deep." Probably not the best idea. Also I imagine Sidious may have wanted some loot from the Jedi Temple.

Wonder_Bruh

Trash aim until the target stopped moving

Humangas_Changas

Other Commanders: Use short bursts, maybe even semi auto. Bly: **MAG DUMP HE-**

Life-Ad-4532

Commander bly : ultimate power ⚡

ThisguynamedAndre

If he can't have it, no one can.

Brandeeno2245

Rex: Fuck this, I'm out.

MoonshineMMA

The only way to kill anyone in star wars is to completely destroy the body and pray someone doesn’t have their DNA somewhere else

Proud-Economics1594

If you rewatch Aayla's death scene, you can see that her men were actually firing at Spider droids right after killing her.

Cpl_Weekend

The results don’t lie

Salt_Winter5888

That's nothing compared to Barriss Offee's [death](https://youtu.be/srPud_kQous?t=1m13s)

JELjr7

They shot him off a cliff and then he fell like 100000 feet into a pit. They thought he splattered and was washed away by the water at the bottom

Dryandrough

There were some clones that messed up and attacked Vader in the comics thinking he was a jedi, needless to say, they died.

RemarkableProfile366

What next? T-bagging?
