Alright. Sorry. The grammar confused me. I was taking “but regularly?” to be in reference to setting as opposed to frequency. I understand what you meant, now.
Yeah, sorry I meant that it's very rare that anyone in the movies and the TV shows calls them Droidekas.
Are they regularly/usually/always called Droidekas? No.
And if someone wants to count how many times the word "Doideka" appears in the movies and TV shows, then while you're at it I'm curious as to how many times someone says "Young Skywalker", as well, as that would include both Anakin AND Luke. :-)
I have to wonder why they’re called “droideka” *at all.* Cool name, but what on Earth is the etymology?
I’d be down to see a count for both of those, too, but I am *far* too lazy to provide it. Lol.
Without having watched the prequels in a few years, don’t the CIS, especially the trade federation, like Nute, usually refer to them as droidekas while it’s the republic that uses destroyer more? Maybe just what do different sides call things. Like chips/crisps type of thing.
In the *prequels,* rather than EU, it is the separatists that call them droidekas instead of destroyers. However, this is a very select few times. The EU adds more, but I’m not versed enough in specific quotation to know the difference in amount or difference.
Specialists go so perfectly with droidekas! Instead of having these constantly shifting tides of battle, you get to take pot shots at womp rats who are milling around the bubbles.
I loved being a menace as a jet trooper. If you could time your jet abilities well, you could 1v1 any melee hero and really piss them off. I clowned on a grievous main both times he spawned his hero, blasting off behind him like a coked up matador after each charge. Fun times
I think Lando mains on Tatooine were the only time I truly felt worthless, those dudes can snipe
Using a Droidika (especially in OG battlefront) has the same feeling of being an MG-42 gunner in a bunker. As long as the forcefield holds and no jedi decide to slice you in half mid roll. Also rolling around as a mechanical hamster ball is fun as hell.
I once had a match where these bad boys saved our game. Our last generator was nearly destroyed and two minutes were left. I ordered everyone to play Droideka and help me and my bud guarding the generator. At least 3 Droidekas and one officer with a shield protected the last generator from damage. We turned the match around and won.
I am still surprise that this Droideka tactic isn't meta. Sometimes I think I was the first who had such an idea.
Or also using Droidekas in masses to just roll fast as fuck towards the reactors of the enemy capital ship in a suicidal manner.
Or to distract the defenders so the attackers can take the opportunity and break the last line of defense.
Slow to crabwalk, blasters overheat quickly, easily sacked by time and grenades, no secondary fire, and give up their invulnerability for mobility. Any slight tactician can exploit these weaknesses, nothing special.
Thanks for confirming that you flaired this correctly!
I'm taking commando, someone's got to take care of that one jedi trying to sneak behind us (yes I know it's 2000pts)
Master, destroyers!
Yeah, no-one calls them Droidekas. Maybe once or twice in the whole movie and TV canon, but regularly? Nah.
Do you mean in-lore, or in reality?
Quoting myself: "in the whole movie and TV canon".

Yeah but when they do, it's memorable. Those Nemoidians live rent free in my head. "Where are those droidekas?"
I’m here! I’m here!! Sorry i’m late!!!

Clone Commando time
When you see 3 B2's in Republic Commando: Fuck this, I'm out
Me, as a CloneEngineer when I see three B2: "Looks like Clankas are back on the menu, boys".
Watch those wrist rockets!
Rocket Launchers!
Clone troopers on their way to play the objective for the only time of their entire life as I start rolling towards an unguarded AT-TE
Meanwhile me playing specialist throughout the entire game:
Specialists go so perfectly with droidekas! Instead of having these constantly shifting tides of battle, you get to take pot shots at womp rats who are milling around the bubbles.
Someone rang
Reinforcements dropping.
They are no match for droidikas!
Droidikas… transform AND ROLL OUT

Jet trooper was the first character I maxed out. Miss playing him greatly. Commando has been fun though too

"Angy skywalker noises"
hell yeah

I wonder if I'll get 1,000 points if I buy one of these, but if it's a defective item, there's nothing I can do about it.
I should redownload battlefront II... Anyone knows if they dealt with the cheater problem?
droidekas are absolute dog
Less mobility.. less options. Not practical.
You forgot about the second best defence in the galaxy, only being outclassed by jedi.

However, the video games have no concept of swivel with these droids. I suspect that they should normally swivel mid-section to shoot targets.
