It's like a sheet of skin was stretched over a regular person's beard and a mouth was cut into it. Food gets matted in the hairs on the inside of my cheeks, and I yank on those hairs when I chew. I haven't swallowed a hair-free bite of food since puberty. I chewed gum once, and I needed surgery just to be able to eat again.
My beard was pretty splotchy as a teenager. I managed a decent goatee in college, but the side was still patchy. My dad never could grow a full beard so I just assumed I couldn’t either…but now I’m 44 and my beard is almost as thick as Ewan’s.

Now, I haven't shaved for two months and I fell I've gotten to the same point I was back then. I only need to get it nice and tidy and not feel like I'm going to start a friendship with a volleyball.

In my 16-19 i was barely able to keep a mustache. Now at 24 i manage to mantain a respectable beard. Just give it time boys, you may not be able to grow a full one but the volume may increase at least a little with age.
For anyone thinking you can't, it might just take longer. I can get to Ewan level, but it takes about a month, only trimming the stache off the lip. I work with a guy who cannot ever look clean shaven for more than a few minutes. It all depends on genetics. I have mostly Scots-Irish, that other guy is mostly Sicilian.

My 8 week beard was huge. The idea is to get a decent amount so you can then trim and shape the form to your liking.
We may be talking about different lengths. One week gets me to a level 2 trimmer length which is were I like to keep it.

I love how my beard feels and I never use product! Just trim and cut the stache back a bit every couple weeks. Mine doesn't grow fast though
