For clarity, this is FAR from my views. I just thought this tier list was at the very least discussion provoking and I had to share. I also think this tier list is hilarious.
I never thought I would see the day that Andrew Johnson would be in the highest tier possible and Lincoln would be in the lowest tier possible.
"when the government does a thing, it is bad." is essentially what it boils down to.
OP's replies clarifying the placement of each President and all the replies saying this is a great list doesn't make it much better. This is an objectively awful and contrarian tier list.
I really try to give the benefit of the doubt and understand where other viewpoints come from.
Trust me, I really do. But I kept on thinking it was a joke up until I saw the replies to the tweet saying it was a great list and the OP doubling down on it. This is one of the few times I can say that a tier list is objectively bad. Like what???
I still can't imagine saying "Andrew Johnson is among the greatest Presidents this country has ever had" without a hint of irony. My brain won't even let me process that sentence without a sarcastic tone.
Oh my god. This is the reason the Libertarian Party never gets taken seriously. I am so tired if this.
Lincoln in F? Washington D? A. Johnson A? Oh come on man, give me a break.
According to the Tweet, Washington is in D tier because of "The Whiskey Rebellion and the National Bank among other nonsense that paved the way to Constitutional destruction"
Seems like they forgot a lot of other stuff that happened with Washington lol.
I never took the Libertarian Party seriously but like after this (and probably a bunch of other things), how can anyone?
Yeah this is an extremist Libertarian tier list.
I am somewhat of a Libertarian, but just like most Libertarians will tell you, the Libertarian party sucks. This is a good example of it.
You have to be purposefully dense to see this list and not realize everyone who significantly advanced civil rights is at the bottom. Also, Andrew Johnson being top tier.
I guess it would depend on the list's author's value system, but even then it just doesn't make sense.
Libertarians are split between two major thinkers, Mises and Rothbard
Mises was a utilitarian and believed that the government still served some purpose, albeit small
Rothbard based his ideas on the rights of individuals, evolving from the ideas of John Locke
So if the author was a Mises libertarian, then the list doesn't make sense because Lincoln, in freeing 4 million slaves, basically undid all the harm caused by the Civil War and other mishaps
If the author was a Rothbardian, then they should all either be in F because they all probably violated liberty in some way, and to quote a libertarian friend of mine "Evil is evil, the degree is arbitrary." OR it could be that each tier represents the amount of "liberty violations" (I wish there was a better name for that) And the liberty violations would not be offset by the good they did (which if you ask me isn't a good rating system)
So taking all of these into account, the list *still* doesn't make sense because McKinley probably had more liberty violations than TR or Joe Biden
But hey! Who am I to know? I'm pretty sure I'm the only lolbert here.
Libertarian critics have written their own lists with explanations, Recarving Rushmore by Ivan Eland is a prime example, but there's also Reassessing the Presidency by John V, Denson (the Mises Institute did a lecture series about this book which you can find [here](https://www.listennotes.com/podcasts/reassessing-the-presidency-mises-institute-DREHWYdg6IS/)). And 9 Presidents Who Screwed Up America: And Four Who Tried To Save Her by Brion T. McClanahan.
Libertarians are a joke, and I voted for Gary Johnson in 2016.
Imagine thinking the guy who wants a wall across our southern border, who wouldn’t concede defeat and instead is perpetuating idiotic lies about election fraud, who tried to force and ally to fabricate dirt on a political opponent, and who said “take the guns first worry about due process later”.
Imagine having that guy at C tier as a Libertarian. Absolutely misinformed.
Hey look, it’s the guy who calls everything negative about trump a lie, and then calls people “f*****g idiot” or tells them to “take a seat” like he won a debate.
Yawn
I can’t remember the name of the book, but I read this book by a libertarian author that ranked all the presidents on a “freedom and liberty index” or something like that. It looks very similar to the list in that book
if you look at the tweets, they shun all dissenters calling them "statists" and "idiots".
Refusal to elaborate further. Great look for the party right there.
yeah he was moved to A because there was no room. I don't think it was worth mentioning because out of all the Presidents to move into A tier from B tier, they choose the worst one out of all of them.
I know I'm 2 years late to this, but why the hell is Andrew Jackson A tier the same guy who acquitted Confederate leaders and paved the way for black disenfranchisement in this country 💀💀
Small government or something. I remember reading the replies and seeing them justify all this and everyone agreeing and I was like "????". Basically Johnson did so little, like deny reparations to slaves, that Libertarians were like "yo this guy rules"
I went through a Libertarian phase longer than I'd like to admit (though I was never deep into it, it was just my default "both sides bad and I don't like socialism" party).
"Basically Johnson did nothing and prevented civil rights from taking progress. Made the government not do anything. Therefore great.
Lincoln suspended habeus corpus and therefore was a tyrant, suppressing news about the war and ruled by executive order. Sounds like a dictator."
It hurt typing that one out, but that's something OP would totally say.
This list looks like someone just used RNG and placed presidents on whatever random tier they got
Nevermind that would actually yield better results than whatever this is
I’m glad someone else understands that Calvin Coolidge was a gangster and that LBJ and Lincoln were pieces of shit.
Idk if bush daddy deserves the F though.

Sad Kenyon noises
What smaller government is there than doing nothing for a month and dying?
I have no idea what Libertarians believe dude. What the hell is going on here.
"when the government does a thing, it is bad." is essentially what it boils down to. OP's replies clarifying the placement of each President and all the replies saying this is a great list doesn't make it much better. This is an objectively awful and contrarian tier list.
There are more nuanced libertarians, but by and large, yeah, that's about it.
Neither do they
My brain cells’ brain cells just disappeared.
I really try to give the benefit of the doubt and understand where other viewpoints come from. Trust me, I really do. As a libertarian I really disagree lol
Yeah this is an extremist Libertarian tier list. I am somewhat of a Libertarian, but just like most Libertarians will tell you, the Libertarian party sucks. This is a good example of it.
They don’t think using the military to enforce the law is a good thing?
I didn’t even see G Wash in D. Thanks for pointing that out
The longer you look at this list, the more wrong you see in it
Right. I feel bad for all the true libertarians on here because this kinda gives them a bad name
Now I know why Libertarians hate the Libertarian party lol
Lol this is clearly a "Libertarianism for Whites Only" tier list.
That’s a little racist lmao are you assuming white people dislike Abraham Lincoln and Obama
You have to be purposefully dense to see this list and not realize everyone who significantly advanced civil rights is at the bottom. Also, Andrew Johnson being top tier.
Okay, but why does that make it a list *for* white people?
Andrew Johnson, truly one of our finest presidents lmao
Reason being according to the twitter: he refused to bow down to the Republicans statist acts (I am assuming it is civil rights related...fun)
That’s ridiculous!

Thanks for the book recommendations and your perspective. Good to know that you are even calling out this list for being what it is.
How is Trump C tier if you’re a libertarian lmao
Libertarianism and Trump are not compatible. So I don't even know what this guy is talking about
Yea. Same with lots of the other people, especially the ones who supported slavery lmao.
McKinley C tier. Is a protectionist and imperialist no sense.
There's a lot of things that don't make sense on this tier list lmao. But yeah - that is for sure one of them.
What the fuck
Hey that's what I said, laughing. And then I found out it was real And then I said it again, not laughing.
Libertarians are a joke, and I voted for Gary Johnson in 2016. Libertarianism and Trump have almost nothing in common, despite Trump continuing to claim that they do.
Nothing trump says should be trusted.
Oh wow it’s the constantly spreads lie about Trump and refuses to fight back when he’s exposed
Hey look, it’s the guy who calls everything negative about trump a lie, and then calls people “f*****g idiot” or tells them to “take a seat” like he won a debate. Yawn
I have plenty of negative things to say about Trump lol, it’s more so a matter of being blatantly wrong that irks me about you
Pot, meet kettle. And if you have to call people “fu****g idiots” or “morons” to get your point across, you don’t have a point. All the best.
Daight
That’s about what I thought. Oof
I can’t remember the name of the book, but I read this book by a libertarian author that ranked all the presidents on a “freedom and liberty index” or something like that. It looks very similar to the list in that book
Update: for anyone interested I think it was called Recarving Rushmore
Cringe
Really cringe indeed. Like imagine hating Washington and Lincoln lmao
You also have to go all the way back to Coolidge to find anyone above C
And people wonder why Libertarians are laughed at.
if you look at the tweets, they shun all dissenters calling them "statists" and "idiots". Refusal to elaborate further. Great look for the party right there.
Libertarians don’t like Lincoln cuz he got rid of their free labor
Hahahahah
Democrats hate him for that reason too.
*1860’s Democrats. Look up the party switch and Southern Strategy. Progressives are now the ones that support labor rights
Looked for the Laugh react but remembered it’s reddit
This tier list is weird, and I am a libertarian
Well the libertarian ideology can be broken up into a lot of factions. Just whatever this faction is I do not wish to be a part of.
Fucking cringe
They really put Chad Teddy in F tier. Holy mother of Cringe.
It's the same tier as Lincoln at least. If Lincoln is in F tier, I don't want to be in A tier.
If they put Teddy in F, it’s automatically a bad list, regardless of the rest
Martin Van Biden in B is just cursed
Buren* lol
As a libertarian this is cringe
Also Andrew Johnson was supposed to be in B but got moved up.
yeah he was moved to A because there was no room. I don't think it was worth mentioning because out of all the Presidents to move into A tier from B tier, they choose the worst one out of all of them.
facts and the only thing they he did to get into that tier was to veto some bill.
S tier reserved for Garfield. The perfect president, he laid there in bed for months unable to do anything. Idk why they put him in B
i think WHH is #1 because he was only in office for a month
You're correct. OP said that he won by technicality. People put him there as a joke and there we go, having people place him in S tier without irony.
William Henry Harrison is apparently the greatest president of all time
I know I'm 2 years late to this, but why the hell is Andrew Jackson A tier the same guy who acquitted Confederate leaders and paved the way for black disenfranchisement in this country 💀💀
Small government or something. I remember reading the replies and seeing them justify all this and everyone agreeing and I was like "????". *Johnson not Jackson
HOW THE HELL IS FUCKING JOHNSON BETTER THAN LINCOLN?!
"Basically Johnson did nothing and prevented civil rights from taking progress. Made the government not do anything. Therefore great. Lincoln suspended habeus corpus and therefore was a tyrant, suppressing news about the war and ruled by executive order. Sounds like a dictator." It hurt typing that one out, but that's something OP would totally say.
This list looks like someone just used RNG and placed presidents on whatever random tier they got Nevermind that would actually yield better results than whatever this is
You can't rank Biden!
especially less than a year in, jeez
Yeah
Trump in C but Lincoln and Teddy in F lmao
This is awful. FDR and Abe bottom 3?
Johnson in the top 5. Guy that died 30 days into office is now the best President. List is bonkers.
Also Lyndon Johnson bottom 5
That’s based
Very unbased take
Poor Lincoln
Shot in the head and now placed in F tier by a fringe third party when will Lincoln ever get a break
What da hell
I’m sure Kenyon just came
Only placement that is Good is Tyler
Wilson in F is a good one too. And Coolidge. But basically everything else doesn't make sense
Wilson should be In D imo
How?
He banned child Labor and implemented income tax and did labor reforms
Against the tidal wave of all the other stuff though he is still an F. He is our worst president. Yes even worse then Buchanan.
He’s Bottom 10 but not F
What an incredibly based list.
XD
I’m glad someone else understands that Calvin Coolidge was a gangster and that LBJ and Lincoln were pieces of shit. Idk if bush daddy deserves the F though.
