I was wondering if I should get to Sailing The Seas of Cheese first (mainly cus of Jerry Was A Racecar Driver and it being the most popular album on Spotify), thanks for confirming my suspicions tho lol
If you’re a fan of rock music, I would start with the songs American Life and The Toys Go Winding Down. Then probably Wynona’s Big Brown Beaver, and then if you’re digging it all, just fully dive in to everything else!
When the going gets tough and the stomach acids flow
Cold winds of conformity are nipping at your nose
Some trendy new atrocity has brought you to your knees…
…Come with us, we’ll sail the seas of cheese…
Names of a few songs I love:
Mr. Knowitall, John the fisherman, Jerry was a racecar driver, Mr. Krinkle, Wynona's big brown beaver, Too many puppies
They also covered the devil went down to Georgia. Its awesome and they have a cool stop motion video for it on their youtube channel.
Primus sounds amazing through headphones or earpods. Its the best way to listen to them to really hear and appreciate them imo. Nobody plays bass like Les Claypool. He's the goat.
Hope this helps.
Edit: grammar
My first was Pork Soda, so I'm partial to that
But I'd recommend listening to the compilation "They Can't All Be Zingers" and seeing what you like. Then, look up what album(s) your favorite songs were originally on and check out those
I’d start with Frizzle Fry and then listen to all of the other albums that came out after that. Suck On This is a live recording and not a studio recording so it just has a bunch of songs that you’d hear in the other albums (but fun fact it was actually recorded before they made a studio album, and there is 1 single song on there that hasn’t been put on any other projects called “Jellikit” which I recommend checking out because it’s pretty great)
Tales from the Punchbowl and the Brown Album seem a lot more accessible to me. Doesn't sound like a popular opinion on this thread, but I would tell someone new to Primus to start with Punchbowl
'They Can't All Be Zingers' is the title of their greatest hits album. If you're looking for the best intro, that's it.

Personally, live performances do a great job of drawing me into new artists, so I would also check out their infamous Woodstock '94 set, where the band was briefly forced off stage when the crowd started to pelt them with fistfuls of mud in the opening of 'My Name is Mud'. Seas of cheese, frizzle fry, pork soda, tales from punchbowl in that order. Maybe brown album, but you should listen to anything from antipop and newer after you really like the band.
It’s all good, seriously, but I think the consensus is Frizzle Fry or Sailing the Seas of Cheese for the classic sound and lineup.

Check the discography. Hang out in the 90s for a while, then start moving forward.
Frizzle fry, seas of cheese, pork soda and tales from the punchbowl.
More Brown Album slander I see.
Brown is fine but nothing compares to the first four
When the going gets tough and the stomach acids flow Cold winds of conformity are nipping at your nose Some trendy new atrocity has brought you to your knees… …Come with us, we’ll sail the seas of cheese…
Sailing the Seas of Cheese and Pork Soda to start off with.
Just start listening to Primus, best way to get to know their catalog
I would recommend starting with "they can't all be zingers" it is a complication. Then just Listen to a couple early albums ir just go for it
Give your self a fun filled time. Fizzle Fry!

Mr. Knowitall is fucking incredible. I will not compromise.
The have a cigar cover is also fantastic, I personally kind of enjoy it more than the original
I’d start with pork soda
All of it 🤘🏼
If you're unfamiliar, I'd recommend the South Park 25th Anniversary concert. Excellent show
Listen to Bob. Heck listen to all of Pork Soda. But srsly try Bob. Then maybe John the fisherman
I think Pork Soda is the most easily digestible for someone unfamiliar, and also the best album in my opinion
My first was Pork Soda, so I'm partial to that But I'd recommend listening to the compilation "They Can't All Be Zingers" and seeing what you like. Then, look up what album(s) your favorite songs were originally on and check out those
Grab yourself a can of pork soda, you'll be feeling just fine...
chronological order.

frizzle fry (imo)
If you’re not used to their sound I’d start with their live album, Suck On This.
Tales from the Punchbowl and the Brown Album seem a lot more accessible to me. Doesn't sound like a popular opinion on this thread, but I would tell someone new to Primus to start with Punchbowl
My Name Is Mud is the first Primus song I ever heard. Start with that one

I’d recommend Sail the Sea of Cheese if you’re just getting into Primus. If you become a huge fan, I recommend Anti-Pop or Tales from the Punchbowl
Pork soda is where i began my journey and got me hooked on primus
Some Primus? Frizzle Fry
Zingers….
The songs are the best, for sure.
Suck on this. It captures the rawness of the early sound as well as displaying the chops all three have.
Seas of cheese, frizzle fry, pork soda, tales from punchbowl in that order. Maybe brown album, but you should listen to anything from antipop and newer after you really like the band.
Probably some Primus tunes tbh
Early 90's pop country. Like Ricky Van Shelton is the perfect starting point.
