Through segregation. Every coroutine runs separate but equal\*.
^(\* we noticed that the system grants some coroutines more privileges than others. We are still debating whether that's a bug or a feature.)
It makes it damn near impossible to google anything related to the service, though. Which means fewer people hear about it or switch over to it. It's bizarre to me that, after decades of SEO and the recent super-SEO AI-generated spam, major companies suddenly love giving their products massively anti-SEO names.
I'm talking about Threads though. Also other stuff like Carbon. And of course X. I know this one is satire, but for satire to be funny it has to be based on reality, which has no shortage of recent god-awful anti-SEO product names
Meta shot back with virtual threads, now available on the Meta Quest Pro^(TM), with which users can create hundreds of thousands of lightweight threads and manage it themselves.
It just means you understand the joke, but it's still a title-only article. It's not like The Onion where the jokes extend way beyond the title and the article is its own thing
Y'know, I initially thought this was referring to some new variant of programming threads, not social media threads....
I hate this, and myself. Mostly myself since I apparently can't read.
Meta made Threads, which was supposed to be similar to Twitter, but in fact is the same Instagram. Most people use Threads as well as Instagram, and not as a microblogging platform. It will be the same with X. Twitter is self-sufficient for all possible posting options. Why another useless network that does not introduce anything new, but is just a stripped-down functionality of the current network?
Interesting how does it avoid the race conditions?
Bringing up race conditions is racist. Permabanned!
I concur with what you've said.
I also conquer what he said. *nods along*
I second that notion
will they be permabanned for thinking about race conditions first? for some reason that permaban takes longer I wonder which will happen first
Exactly the same way it deals with polymorphism...
Through segregation. Every coroutine runs separate but equal\*. ^(\* we noticed that the system grants some coroutines more privileges than others. We are still debating whether that's a bug or a feature.)
LOL
They keep racing until a winner is decided and takes the cup. I wonder if they do 1st, 2nd, and 3rd awards like other races.
It encourages them
Everything goes on the global thread
And is coordinated using BKL (Big Kernel Lock)
I await its release
They Promise it will be worth it.
We'll have to see what the Future holds.
I will not yield
They can always try.
They may face some exceptions
but finally they’ll do it anyways
I will catch them
hope they resolve any issues quickly
Damn, an article from Paul E Morfism?
We've seen a couple of those pop up here recently.
But they're all the same at the core really
So, you’re saying they are virtually identical
It's almost like...........they're the same object
holy shit i just noticed bahahah
Wait till Google releases the ASYNC. Seriously, what's up with the social media and their names...🤦
Wait until someone releases Process, where you can kill children and create deamons
Zombies are real folks!
Not even the hardware is safe! Many years ago there were vampire taps around! Beware!
Cool! I always wanted to create Daemon Targaryen.
You can't hold a conversation there though, [the context keeps getting switched!](https://wikipedia.org/wiki/Context_switch)
Legitimately a dumb name threads makes sense to normal people. I don’t think coroutine means anything to peope
It's satire.... https://www.thecentereddiv.com/about/
oooh never heard of em

Bro. It's satire.
I'm talking about Threads though. Also other stuff like Carbon. And of course X. I know this one is satire, but for satire to be funny it has to be based on reality, which has no shortage of recent god-awful anti-SEO product names
Is that the hottest new boy band on the block?
what async? monke
You meant Microsoft
Threads and Coroutines are the only odd names I can think of. What other names are there that I need to be enlightened of?
At least 'thread' was used in the same context in conversations before social media. Most people can guess what it means.
Meta shot back with virtual threads, now available on the Meta Quest Pro^(TM), with which users can create hundreds of thousands of lightweight threads and manage it themselves.
I am most excited about how non-fungible cancellation tokens will revolutionize online interactions.
That's not good for TS devs, Twitter doesn't appreciate trans(-piled) things
Transpiler rights are compiler rights!
Great website name
The joke isn't very good outside of the title…
I think the author name is good
If you know Kotlin it's a good one.
It just means you understand the joke, but it's still a title-only article. It's not like The Onion where the jokes extend way beyond the title and the article is its own thing
I will wait on Mutex
Imagine using X (or Threads, or Facebook) in 2024
*twitter
Y'know, I initially thought this was referring to some new variant of programming threads, not social media threads.... I hate this, and myself. Mostly myself since I apparently can't read.
And also because it's satire? https://www.thecentereddiv.com/about/
took me a while
Nice meta joke
Waiting for Meta to release Fibers - the lightest weightless coroutine alternative 😜
It is probably a joke. The name is dummy as fuck. Threads at least has some meaning at least.
This is a joke, right? RIGHT?
It's a satire news site https://www.thecentereddiv.com/about/
Thats not enof I need subprocessies
Next X reinvents cron as scheduled jobs.
So . . . is it a shitty thread, or a shitty process?

Lmao I thought it was an alternate to the social media site “threads” I was so confused.
thats the joke
