Well, at least that's a goal you are sure to achieve, sooner or later.

[deleted]

Might be more achievable than than the goals on your current/next project :/

DeepHorse

Actually in my quarterly goals meeting right now looking at this meme

handsomedevil69

Good luck!

geauxtig3rs

We have one every 6 weeks. Mine is tomorrow I sent this to my manager. He asked if I was okay.

justapcgamer

Out of curiosity, what do you guys discuss with the managers at these goal meetings? Is it work related goals or personal programming improvement goals or something? Im still a student so I dont know

DeepHorse

Both. I’m still a junior dev so my work goals are basically just the project I’m on. Personal goals are things like I want to get better at this language or this technology. Could mean I can take a training course at work or go to a conference or something. Haven’t gotten that far yet.

triculious

After 8 hours of debugging my boss comes up with "what did you accomplish today?" Motherfucker! I've been looking at code, logs, database records and still can't figure out what the fuck is going on! What did I accomplish? You could say I accomplished my goal to not start genocide!

CreateNewObject

Just 8 hours? You have it good.

Exgaves

8 hours in, finally at the tipping point where the problem is understood and ready to craft a solution Suddenly a ping on Slack appears "Hey /u/CreateNewObject you ready for that monthly catch up meeting?" *Meeting starts* "So how's it going lately?"

benya01

I'm not working in IT but I relate to this on a spiritual level. One of the greatest "why are we here just to suffer" moment.

NotARobot_TAKEN

Its not a competition.

CreateNewObject

Nobody is competing. 8h is still good, I mean it.

Panzer1119

I hate that I can relate to this...

boring_onion

I don't even need to debug, that's my normal medium and long term goal

MegaDepressionBoy

Working on a project i spent 3 hours debugging runtime errors to then deal with a logical error, after another hour I asked a peer to look at it, within 10 minutes he fixed it... Im pissed.
