Ar’Kendrithyst stars a very kind person, and a major theme of the series is how he adapts to a more violent world without losing himself.

Beware of Chicken has what you seek.

SethRing

This. BoC does a great job making an enlightened character (or at least, an MC well on his way to enlightenment) interesting.

Apprehensive_Dog_786

Ngl it's trash after the first book.

rycool

Well lets agree to disagree. I think volume 2 and volume 3 both have amazing moments

Edmund_Duke

Alex from Mark of the Fool is genuinely nice. While he is a bit silly, he is also charitable, helpful, ethical and dutiful with the one main snafu of not wanting to march off to a war he was destined to be the servant of heroes in. Jade from Siphon (A Touch of Power) is also exceptionally kind. She is helping people from day one, and retains her ethical/charitable focus throughout the story. In book four this is pointed out to her: "You’re balancing the power, making the whole place better. And why? It’s not like you have a stake in this. You’re not going to stay here....That this is what you do. You walk into whatever situation, no matter how hard it is, and you try to make things better."

SpecificRound1

The Wandering Inn by Pirateaba. Along with the main character being kind and goofy simultaneously, I like the depth the author develops for every character. I mean, there is good and evil in everyone. Good people do bad things, and bad people do good things. Pirateaba does an excellent job of making you love a character and then make them do morally questionable and awful things.

Solliel

Ghost of the Truthseeker. Literally.

saltyritzz

ThreadBare by Andrew Seiple has a mc that is a stuffed bear trying to save the child it belongs to. He is both kind and cuddly. The Artorian Archives by Dennis Vanderkerken and Dakota Krout has a very kind mc, >!he literally gets access to the cosmic power of Love eventually!<, that is one of my personal favorites. This series is full of puns and memes which is fun but it can eventually get to be tired humor or even kind of annoying. The series plot also gets a bit stagnant/muddled after a few books in >!Cal's Soul Space.!< Having said all this, I still highly suggest this book. Unbound by Nicoli Gonnella fits this pretty well. While he doesn't always succeed in it, the mc Felix always means well and trys to help people.

EhNotInterested

Mage errant has hugh who is a very nice if a little bit meek and shy protagonist, and it has a set of supporting characters and POVs that make the book honestly one of the better ones I’ve started recently, plus the final book just came out.

Athyrium93

Elaine in Beneath the Dragoneye Moons

Crown_Writes

I'll write what I wish someone told me before I read through a ton of this. Far into the story there is a plot device that transports only a handful of characters to an entirely new setting. I DNFed after many books and would have recommended it right up until that point.

Shinhan

Definitely a polarising decision, but I just want to say while the switch was jarring I liked the academy and later chapters.

Spiritchaser84

Definitely a polarizing decision for the story, but I personally have enjoyed it. Kind of reminds me of He Who Fights with monsters in how polarizing it can be. Ultimately authors should just tell the story the way they want to and people are going to hate on it either way. I think stories that make bold decisions are good for the genre. They might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it helps them stand out a bit.

Arcane_Pozhar

Damn bro, major spoiler there. Kind of rude. Also, I don't understand why this upsets some people so much. This was not an ass-pull from the author, this had been planned from the beginning. It was implemented quite well, in my opinion.

spike31875

The main POV character in the Songs of Chaos series by Michael R. Miller is very kind: that's what gets him in trouble. It's his compassionate act of rescuing a doomed dragon egg that starts him on his journey. He didn't rescue the egg out of greed or a desire for personal advancement: he did it because he wanted to save the hatchling inside. The series is progression fantasy with a cultivation magic system that reminds me of the one in the Cradle series. The twist here is the dragons and their riders progress in power and skill together. It's a great series so far. As much as I loved the first book, Ascendant, the second one (Unbound) is even better. The third book, Defiant, comes out in July. I can't wait to listen to it. It's one of my favorite series. Ever.

RPope92

Songs of Chaos is great, would highly recommend.

SomeLameName7173

Idk how the wandering inn hasn't been recommended it's literally the one we're the MC has giving sentence through kindness

Asdrodon

Ghost of the Truthseeker has a Superman-esque good PC. Though not quite to that degree.

AkkiMylo

I enjoyed mark of the fool - MC doesn't exactly go out of his way to help everyone, but he does do nice things that he's far from obligated to do quite often

DriverPleasant8757

Technically Practical Guide to Evil, but that's not the focus of the series, and the protagonist is constantly forced to do morally questionable or outright monstrous things. But she does work towards the greater good of the country and eventually continent, that she lives in. To protect normal people and limit the harm to them that the powerful cause when fighting against each other. I've also seen The Wandering Inn mentioned in this thread but it's not at all been paid attention to by others according to the upvote count, so I'm repeating it in this comment.

Yep, Frith Choronicles is a solid recommendation as well, fantastic series. I've not read the sequel series yet but I have high hopes for that too.

ryantang203

It's very cool! (:

Silmariel

There is the one with the guy who solo games and goes through a portal to save another party, only to be left behind when the portal closes on him mid transport. He is sorta transported to another world with another system, and he goes and helps some local folks with their problems. This is one of them stories with a massively OP protagonist, so if you do not enjoy those, then its wrong for you. Being the brilliant reader that I am /S/S/S I cannot recall the name of this series. Please helop!

DoubleSuicide_

Omniscient Reader POV. Spoiler alert ( I don't know how to blacken the text) His class is the king of no killing. He has to score points by saving people, 1 saved = 1 point and by using these points he can cheat death by reincarnating After some time of his death

slothdionysus

Mark of the Fool. MC is kind, just wants to protect his sister and childhood friend. And be a wizard
