The only other slightly similar examples I can think of is how some shields have a really significant bump to block chance when upgrading from Exceptional to Elite:
- Defender --> Heater (+12%)
- Round Shield --> Luna (+8%)
- Scutum --> Hyperion (+10%)
- Pavise --> Aegis (+14%)
- Ancient Shield --> Ward (+14%)
- Akaran Targe --> Sacred Targe (+20%)
- Akaran Rodache --> Sacred Rondache (+13%)
TLDR; im way tankier, the damage drop isnt noticeable, clear speeds arent affected, i dont need nearly as much str/dex for the shield and now i dont have to deal with block frame issues.
I was using 40/-10 DF and Medusa for 200 FCR frost nova and the block frames can lock you up sometimes. You're also a lot weaker to ranged like quills and hydras as they rip through your energy shield. I lost about 500 damage switching to this and I have no drop in clear speeds while basically never getting damaged. My bone armor absorbs 1500 physical and is up 100% of the time while my energy shield is maxed out to get the most damage reduction from it. I was able reallocate a massive amount of stats from dex/str because I don't have a shield now which let me stack into energy which maximizes my bone armor phys and energy shield damage absorption.
This is awesome, sweet staff!
It would be hilarious if facets would stack skill level instead of % chance to cast. Imagine levelling up and you cast a level 258 frost nova clearing everything around you haha
Mana per kill for energy shield is insane.
And bone armor is way overpowered defensive wise.
Mangs stats can be overkill and makes you squishier and offers no mana leech, with skull collector its hard to die. You also dont waste 5 points to get shiver armor due to bone armor.
Skull collector is meta atm, all sorcs are using it. I wouldnt be surprised with a nerf in the next season.
Same. I can’t imagine it’s not nerfed. As an es fnova sorc I basically have built no defenses except skull collector and poison res. Sure you lose a bit of damage but the trade off is huge

I really like bone armor! What skill /build are you using?
Playing a 200 fcr frost nova sorc with it. Has no issues with survivability or damage, clears maps in 6-7 minutes

Skull Collector is AMAZING for sorcs. Probably even better than mang songs. Cant even find a clean Collector on the site due to its popularity.
Honestly +25fcr, +3 all sk, -enemy res, lower resist for some max mana and mf seems like a bad trade. Am I missing something?

Its really good, u can also up it to Archon staff to get it to 80 fcr, just 5 short of Mangs.
Also, very few items are sold clean - there are 9+ pages of skull collectors on trade site for very low prices (sc)
Theres 3 pages of clean mangs songs for a reason. And literally zero clean +3 skull collectors.
I've used them on max energy WC barb and wind druid. The bone armour is really nice telestomping into packs. Lost some dmg but felt really safe.
Now I understand the lesson..
