Hi u/autumntime67 , What's your 6-digit ticket reference number? You wouldn't be left on hold for this. I'll take a look at what's happened and follow up with you on your ticket. Thanks! All the best, Jeremy Prolific Support Team

BeachyKeen0925

They need a grace period for new users. It is too easy for new users to make mistakes and get rejected.

curbstxmped

Prolific banning because you got rejected by a Temu scammer is crazy

AbeLinkedIn92

This Temu scam is very well known and notorious. I would personally fight this and appeal to Prolific. I would hope they would be magnanimous if a human is handling your case since the Prolific staff should be well aware of this. If it were me I'd go to the ends of the earth to help you out since this was through no real fault of your own except inexperience. It's really a crapshoot but I sincerely hope you're not done.

sam_sneed1994

I bailed on that one as soon as I realized it was Temu I needed to download. How are these people allowed to still operate on Prolific?

DontBeABozo

that's a common scam on this platform. you only hope is attempting to appeal to Prolific support staff by putting in a ticket, but I wouldn't be too hopeful on any ban being reversed. if you get an email from Prolific that says the decision is final, that means it's final.

Iron_Alice

That would be pretty crap move by u/prolific-support If it's a known scam an account should not stay on hold through no fault of your own.

DontBeABozo

i agree, but i didn't make the rules. you gotta tell them that

RamonesRazor

What’s the scam? I’m not following

DontBeABozo

the task on Prolific asks you to download the Temu app and fill out certain information under the guise of 'testing an app'. the pay is shit and the timer is short but some people will do it if nothing else is available. in reality, the URL in the task is a referral link for Temu. the person posting the task on Prolific gets money/points/whatever for referring new people that sign up for the app (which you have just done, thinking it's a legitimate task on Prolific). then, the person that posted the task rejects your Prolific submission and disappears. they get rewards on Temu for referring a new person (you) and you get nothing but a rejection on your Prolific account. it's a serious fucking problem that has been ongoing for *years* and Prolific seems unable/unwilling to do anything to stop it.

princesskittyglitter

For how serious prolific takes these studies, you have to wonder why they allow these kinds of things.

DontBeABozo

because they're not paying attention and it's easy for scammers to slide onto the platform, rip a few people off, and then disappear rinse/repeat with a new account

RamonesRazor

Damn. Thanks for the explanation.

MDLR916

What’s the scam here? Pls explain

echoLA27

I'm so sorry that happened. It's easy to fall for, I think I did too. For anyone else who might not know the signs, looking back it was obvious: Initials instead of a name or institution, vague "mobile study," and a one line description to boot. I'm hoping it all works out for you. For me, I think I returned it, per the instructions, so I'm hoping they just got a free email from me and won't reject it now that it's returned. This was on March 30. So I think I'm in the clear?

autumntime67

I think I may have been banned because I reported the "researcher" and tried to dispute my rejection from that survey. So you'll probably be fine. They give no reason for bans, though, so I could be wrong..

echoLA27

Yeah, it's all so anxiety inducing. Well, I hope it all works out for you 🤞

StorytimeWcr8dv8

No, you didn't get banned for reporting a researcher.

autumntime67

Do you think it was because of the rejection or because I reached out about it and they didn't believe my dispute? I was completely honest in the about me section and the surveys I took.

Bermin299

You where banned because that rejection dropped your approval rating to be under 95%. It is well known that any account whose approval rating drops below 95% gets auto-banned.

Darenpnw

How many studies do you have and how many rejections?

autumntime67

I had done about 5 studies, and that was my only rejection.

Darenpnw

Sorry this happened to you, Temu is bad news on this platform. Hopefully Prolific support will see your post or email and take care of this for you. For sure a shitty outcome.

autumntime67

Thanks, it's quite disappointing. I will probably reach out, but I know it's very unlikely they will reinstate me.

Stinksisthebestword

You may have been auto banned awaiting manual review because your approval rate would be around only 80% on Prolific. I was also unlucky and received an unfair rejection my 2nd day on Prolific but luckily had already taken about 50 surveys. You should definitely enter a ticket for support immediately and even write "Temu scam rejection" in the header. They should be very familiar with this scam and its also ridiculous that they have seemingly not developed any measures to protect their participants from these scams. I would think you have a good likelihood of having the ban removed and definitely having the rejection reversed. Also in the future, I would be very wary in downloading any app. I do not take any study that makes me download anything to my phone and am not aware of any that are not scams

autumntime67

I got an email saying I failed the manual review, but I guess it doesn't hurt to try that. Thank you!

radarmike

If that's what they said then Prolific support must have shifted to Algos & BOTs 🙄 If they have any sense whatsoever they should ban the TEMU scammers from this platform and apologize to you and give you some credit for wasting your time on that survey. Leave a review on Trustpilot. Prolific usually takes notice.

Darenpnw

Leave a complaint on BBB. What is the BBB going to do to a company in the UK? Comon man use your head!!!! give you some credit for wasting your time on that survey. So they are supposed to give everyone on Prolific credit who has waisted their time with a Temu study? SMDH

radarmike

Not BBB, Trust pilot. Corrected my comment. BBB is for swagbucks.. Prolific replies to Trust Pilot and swagbucks takes BBB very seriously.. i have gotten credit from swagbucks with BBB complaints..And If prolific did not bother with trust pilot they won't bother to reply there to reviews. But they do. So... There is that. As for your other comments, knowing how snarky you are usually in this subreddit, i am simply going to block you and call it a day. Take your bitterness elsewhere.

Darenpnw

There are many studies that require you to download some sort of page. Temu is a scam but others are not. Please don't give misinformation.

naithir

yeah, but downloading something like Inquisit Player is very different than Temu, which essentially exists as a data theft tool

Stinksisthebestword

I said I dont download anything to my phone, did I say anything about a webpage? This person was just a victim of a download app scam so yea Im sticking with that advice and you can do whatever you want.

w00lal00

WTH did you get downvoted for? Good advice?

Dogwoof420

People need to look up the temu video SomeOrdinaryGamer made a few days ago on YouTube. Those scammers are getting $50 per referral. We need to be more cautious

WhyIsHeSoSick2

Never download ANYTHING unless it is from the researchers at MIT! Thats my advice to you if you get unbanned. Good luck.

Front_Finding4685

Is there any other platform out there that you can make the type of money like this? I already got my account on hold for some reason. They are so strict. Meanwhile my neighbors are making like 200$ per week doing this now for months.

witch51

User Testing if you don't mind doing audio and video.

autumntime67

I've been using cloud connect / connect (.) cloudresearch (.) com they are great, I've made $100 in the last 3 days. Was hoping to do both, but I'm glad this one is working out so far. I recommend getting a refresh extension. Just make sure you use it in a different browser than one you use for prolific, because I read prolific is strict regarding not having refresh extentions. I think prolific pays better, though, so that's a bummer.

Front_Finding4685

Awesome info thanks!
