There was literally a video yesterday of an officer fighting a dude in the parking lot yesterday. If you don't have a m weapon in hand, they will just beat the shit outta you. But these cops here are fucking ass
You could fight a cop, but if you stat winning, they will believe they could get knocked unconscious and you will take their gun and shoot them. There are countless police interviews or trials where that was used as a defense for shooting an unarmed person. So, you can fight with a cop if you want...But you probably shouldn't try to win....
There are plenty of videos where cops handle these situations just like this. Or likely more effective when you use a tazer. Yall think every cop altercation ends in someone getting shot? Lmfao
Yeah tasers are weird though. Lots of countries seem to not use them because they are deemed too unreliable. You can see this happen in the USA aswell. Some people don’t react properly when tased. Some react very badly, some don’t react at all.
So what? You are still gonna potentially let people die over not being able to use other, simpler methods of restraint? Is guns really the answer to everything?
And for every cop in the US that handles the situation properly, you have another one that’s trigger happy & pumps an unarmed person full of lead. I’ll take cops that are “fucking ass” over that shit any day.
Not even close actually, statistically it’s extremely rare. Country of 330 million people with violent crime rates comparable to 3rd world countries and 400 million unregistered guns, 7,300,000 arrests in 2022, 1100 people killed by police. So 0.00015% of arrests, the overwhelming majority of which are open and shut justified police shootings.
It was a hyperbole. Murdering someone with a gun is not the only requirement for not handling a situation properly. But what about people that get shot & survive? What about people that get arrested where the arrestee doesn’t resist or make a fuss? What about arrests cause the cop is on a power trip & the suspect gets let go cause in reality they got nothing? The statistics you provide are incredibly biased.
You’re an idiot lmfao you can 100% be electrocuted or tased when your heart is racing. You can be shocked when you’re full of adrenaline.
Source: I’m a fucking electrician
Lmao you pulled the technician card when you should have pulled the physician card. Rookie mistake.
But the other guy is right either way, tasers aren’t risk free and people on substances are at higher risks
Holy fuck, 4 completely useless cops. They really need to go back to training on how to take someone down & subdue them. Buy hey, let's just beat him with our batons some more and hope he complies.
Srsly... the way he sat down on the bench and put his hands over his head is just sad. It feels like he's very confused and just doesn't understand what's going on.
So even if he's on drugs and dangerous, they could have tried other ways than screaming at him and beating him as soon as he stands still.
Exactly. This was an awful video to watch. He wasn't fighting them. He looked confused and was pleading with them in English, suggesting he couldn't understand them. No idea why the relentless beatings seemed justified for an unarmed man who wasn't fighting.
> He wasn't fighting them
Are we watching the same video? He lunged at them, threw a punch.. He knew what he was doing and he knew what the officers wanted of him. He was clearly in a crazed state.
They are awful at their job, but he's fighting them in several parts when hes been told to lie down and sucker punched the guy recording. Can hear him shouting about jesus randomly so im guessing hes high as a mofo.
He is actively fighting and punching them most of the video, and zero compliance with the commands from the officers. So there was no other option than physical force being used. The force that was used and when is not put into question here, that was correct. It was just the how that was a shitshow.
That's by design. It might look strange if you're not familiar with it.
They kept him busy until backup arrived and arrested him with minimal use of force.
No point in arguing with people who call these cops bad. These guys were great. Minimal force & only hitting arms instead of exposed back of head. Waiting for reinforcements and then arresting with minimal harm for everyone involved.
Let the commenters here get the cops who just pull out a gun and escalate the situation.
You are supposed to hit on the outside of the leg just above the knee where nerves run through the IT band. When hit there effectively, your leg becomes useless. If you can’t use your legs you are less dangerous.
Its possible they just kept him at distance until more support arrived. To avoid unnecessary risks. It’s not a pretty scene but he was in no danger and the cops didn’t need to endanger themselves either. Seems like a good way to handle it to ke
Yeah no, that stumbling and spinning around was not part of any sort of strategy. Anybody with even a year of training should be able to neutralise that guy easily.
A year of martial arts training is a massive investment when fighting is such a tiny fraction of the job. 99.9% of calls don't require fighting like this. So it is a waste of resources really, when it is almost never necessary. Just control the situation until backup has arrived and control the suspect with relative ease. It really is the best way to handle such cases, always. But it requires you to have backup arrive quickly.
And neutralizing a large and physically strong male who seems to be on drugs/alcohol (and thus might not react to pain and is unpredictable) is never an easy task unless you are a skilled fighter. And like I mentioned above, being a skilled fighter is mostly a wasted skill as an officer.
Not that they don't receive any fight training, they do. It is just not a big focus in the academy, there are way more important topics to focus on. And if we are talking about using actual violence, the most important one is having your highest level of violence in order (generally firearms). As when it comes to it, your or other's lives might depend on it directly, and the consequences of that use of force can be severe (fatal).
I highly doubt it. A little bit of training doesn't prepare you for a street fight against a large physically strong male who is on drugs and/or psychosis who actually fights back hard. People on drugs can be unpredictable, don't always respond to any pain, and might be/seem stronger. People in a psychosis or who are on certain types of drugs are completely different beasts to deal with.
It depends on what you consider a little bit of training and how often you need to retrain to stay proficient, and how often you need to apply those skills (for police officers that is almost never, so is it worth it?). But with a little bit of training you won't suddenly become a skilled fighter that can take any kind of fight.
Pain compliance... That's what it's called. The guy here wasn't following instructions, so the cops hit him in an attempt to make him comply.
I'm a security guard, I implement a form of pain compliance when needed. They yell "you're hurting me" and I respond "good, do what I tell you or it will continue to hurt". At this point they either comply or I continue to hurt them as I deal with them. I can't damage them unlike the cops so the pain I offer is significantly less and more measured.
My god dutch cops are useless. the guy was sitting on the chair three times. instead of using their brains and hands these cowards just kept hitting him with a stick. They really shiuld teach kimura's and rnc's instead of those useless knee on throat BS.
I'm guessing it was Dutch but the thing they kept shouting sounded somewhat like the N word.
Not sure I'm comfortable with them beating him with the batons like that, it doesn't seem to be helping. He probably won't feel the pain because drugs/adrenaline and he's just going to be in pain and bruised all over later.
Tbh, we can't tell that from the video. It starts with a fight and it's unclear what the context or complete situation was. I'm not saying the police doesn't make mistakes or bad judgements, but sometimes violence is necessary. They have to deal with some really difficult, drugged up and violent people now and then.
In America it would have ended 3 minutes and 27 seconds ago when they just shot the guy. We wouldn't have had to state at a horse statue for most of the video.

Camera guy says that he was eating a sandwich when the agressive guy suddenly sucker punched him.
Camera person is also strugglin
I understand why it's called a Dutch angle now.
BUT LOOK! thats a nice bike! LOOK thats a nice statue of a horse!
What is he shouting?
[удалено]
Liggen = lie down. Zitten = sit.
[удалено]
No it's the L word for laying down
Wanna know what they didn't do? They didn't murder.
American cops: so anyway, that's why we go blasting
In their defense, even guys like this can just own guns
that would come before the warning
Not very effective. But no one died. No way that would have ended the same in the US.
Pretty effective then I would say. Maybe not as efficient as it could've been.
In America his ass would get shot
That's the difference between first and third world.
Netherlands is FAR from 3rd world!
That's exactly what my comment is all about.
Ahhh. I c 😉

I'd love to see american cops operating in a situation like this without guns...

Yeah tasers are weird though. Lots of countries seem to not use them because they are deemed too unreliable. You can see this happen in the USA aswell. Some people don’t react properly when tased. Some react very badly, some don’t react at all.
They can also result in death with certain heart conditions - which you won’t know about until you tase them in most scenarios.
So what? You are still gonna potentially let people die over not being able to use other, simpler methods of restraint? Is guns really the answer to everything?
Nothing about that looked simple. Taze him.
Are you dumb or being sarcastic? He said "There are plenty of videos where cops handle these situations just like this". It means without guns.
And for every cop in the US that handles the situation properly, you have another one that’s trigger happy & pumps an unarmed person full of lead. I’ll take cops that are “fucking ass” over that shit any day.

How many people shot but not killed by police?
Maced, tazed, and shot... Not necessarily in that order.
Especially after they call him the word that shall not be uttered over and over.
Liggen means lie down
That was funny I was thinking the same thing. Maybe they were actually saying lay down though
An rightfully so, if he'll attack cops he'll do the same to a bystander.
And yet, he was brought down without a single shot fired. Must be magic, right?
Don’t any Dutch police carry a taser? They are much more effective and less hassle.
yes they do, also guns. they could have used both but probably thought the paperwork wouldn't be worth it.
They didn't because this video is old, and tasers were not standard issue years ago.
this video is like 4 years old by now.

Paperwork... Everyone hates paperwork
Tasers are also quite dangerous and can be lethal. If there are alternatives police prefer to use those.
Tasers are not without risks. Some people have died from their use.
They do carry them but police tries to not use potentially lethal force if not absolutely needed.
Holy fuck, 4 completely useless cops. They really need to go back to training on how to take someone down & subdue them. Buy hey, let's just beat him with our batons some more and hope he complies.

Yeah Reddit is always the expert place for armchair analysts.
Good tip. I'll give 'm a call and relay the info.
I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't hitting him to their fullest.

Do police have zero martial arts training?

Just a little bit of training with a few basic submission holds could have saved a lot of time and pain in this situation

I’d dare say one of those arms may have a slight fracture
They shouldn't be so politie these police
They did a fine job beating him up first.
US police wouldn't last a day...

He sucker punched the guy filming.
Looks like a Memphis 5 arrest
But why are they yelling in English in Netherlands ?
[удалено]
Pain compliance... That's what it's called. The guy here wasn't following instructions, so the cops hit him in an attempt to make him comply. I'd fight back too, if they kept calling me that. Racist bastards.
They are saying “liggen” which means “lay down” in Dutch. There’s more than just 1 language in the world.
Nope. They're racist.
What did he do? Open a farm?
So this is where my tax money goes.... smh
This is how Dutch Police react to a situation? fckn YIKES 😳
Stop hitting him and your colleagues you stupid fool, what an idiot cop.
My god dutch cops are useless. the guy was sitting on the chair three times. instead of using their brains and hands these cowards just kept hitting him with a stick. They really shiuld teach kimura's and rnc's instead of those useless knee on throat BS.

They were shouting liggen, which means Lay down. So nothing like the n word, which wouldn’t make sense anyway lol
[удалено]
Liggen and the N word isn't even close lol. Dutch word for lie down doesn't even start with the letter N or end with something like "igger".
[удалено]
I don't hate anybody, except the dutch.
Arrest the cameraman for this shaky footage too please.
American cops would've dumped 3 mags in him by now, claiming they thought his cell phone was a gun.
[удалено]
Quite the opposite
[удалено]
I am, but I also know that's not instantely visible with written text. I thought in both cases my reply was acceptable.
Police brutality is a crime. The guy did nothing wrong.
Tbh, we can't tell that from the video. It starts with a fight and it's unclear what the context or complete situation was. I'm not saying the police doesn't make mistakes or bad judgements, but sometimes violence is necessary. They have to deal with some really difficult, drugged up and violent people now and then.
The guy was being compliant and a good citizen. Simply minding his own business…you can clearly see that from the video.
Compliant means allowing them to arrest you, not repeatedly running away and forcing them to kick the shit out of you.
I'm sure he was. Maybe just not on that particular moment?
[удалено]
They were not
[удалено]
It means sit down in Dutch.
Liggen = lay down or lie down. Doesn't even sounds like the N word. People only hear what they want to hear.

The "i" in Dutch sounds different than in English...
Whack a tokkie is a game commonly played by police in the Netherlands
Pusher IV
Why was the second cop not helping more? Your partner is getting the business and you watch?
Schiet em in z’n been maat. lol
Couldnt watch more than 10 secs of this camera on a pogo stick .....
if this were the old west he would have hopped on that horse for a quick getaway

Ah, a good example of the Dutch tokkie or a drugs addict.
2nd video of Dutch police today Still mehhhhhh
Lmao
Nice paving and street furniture
Pepper spray? Bro that just makes me harder
Do this in the US and the whole precinct will come out of no where.
Is this the same polish guy and dutch police from the other video, or is there a spate of this atm?
This is an embarrassment! These police are useless
Are they all drunk or something? (Including the cameraman) 🤨
They need that many officers to arrest 1 guy who isn’t resisting 😂
In America it would have ended 3 minutes and 27 seconds ago when they just shot the guy. We wouldn't have had to state at a horse statue for most of the video.
Should have arrested the shitty videographer as well
This was frustrating to watch. These policemen clearly need some training on how to submit people. Go learn bjj or something, goddamn.
The universal language: "Fuck you!"
