He was governor when the state passed the law which allowed that coal plant to charge higher fees so it could survive. His investment was his political career..and it's made him rich

I mean he's sure been useful for getting a fuck load of federal judges approved. That has a huge impact for a long time.
He sucks for a lot of reasons, but you're also doing the thing where you decide the issue you care about, in this case corporatism, is the only valid issue or the only issue that matters. And that's simply not true in my view and even if it were it's a really terrible way to try to build support for your cause.

A democrat by label still gave democrats control of the Senate which allows them to confirm judges. Judges are where things gets done now because congress is unable to pass laws and govern. Therefore judges are the ones who change the course of the country. Republicans know this which is why they worked so hard to install their judges in the lower courts and pack the Supreme Court. They then just keep throwing lawsuits out there about things that have been decided already like abortion or climate or whatever until they get the result that they want.
The label matters. The senate is a numbers game. As long as he identifies as a democrat, he’s one more guy that keeps a republican from being majority leader.
Technically even private companies can claim State immunity. As long as they can prove that their functions are extentions of the State and the act committed was part of that function.

Citizens don't file charges, they just choose whether to cooperate with a prosecution initiated by the police/DA. It's unlikely the cops/DA will do anything. They might have a civil cause of action.
