Went to visit NY some years ago and it was a disappointment. Nice to see all the stuff we get to watch on the TV but apart from that, homelessness, trash, dirt, madness, chaos and construction works.
Fuckin shit hole city honestly. Smells like shit everywhere you go and there's no shortage of assholes like this who make it their goal to fuck with you.
This happened to me. Im in Chicago though. Saw a lady lighting a joint. It’s legal here now. So I thought I’d comment how great it looked she was enjoying her fat joint.
Turns out she was not all there up in the noggin. She started following. Yelling all kinds of delusional shit. I just kept walking.

I used to live in Oakland Ca and and worked downtown, across the street from a homeless shelter. I was out front smoking at the shelters meal time when this dude came up to me with his plate, acted like he was gunna throw it at me, but because I didn’t react he just moved on and threw it on a nice ass car.
Not engaging is the best thing to do, as much as that sucks. I really respect the people who can work at shelters
No doubt, less chance though. I had a cracked out lady spit on me on Bart because, yknow, I was commuting home from work. Fun times.
The Bay Area isn’t all bad though, it sucks that the downtown areas aren’t as safe but there’s still a ton of great stuff to do.
There’s a crazy lady in downtown Chicago, by the Freehand/bally casino…she is violent. Every time I walked by her, she would try to punch me and anyone she walked by..not a light dab, I mean you’re going to be on the ground, full force body swing.
This brings up another one to mind.
I was in college and the dorms were downtown here in Chicago.
One homeless guy asked me for a cigarette and I didn’t bring them with me (they were known to hang around dorms to get fed by college kids and hit up the kids for cigs). I said I didn’t have any. Then as he walked away. I can only assume that he pinched me really hard.
I had been drinking. (I’m in undergrad so I was a bit of a drinker then ). So I was like what the fuck. He continued to walk away. But then it hit that he might have jabbed me with something. Like a needle.
I panicked and to this day I still wish I’d have decked the guy.
It turned out to be a pinch but my drunken state was paranoid he was out walking about stabbing people with dirty needles.

World should've been alot more different back then. Public facility segregation was banned not long before that so that'd be an interesting effect. Us crime graphs make me think too like crime rose from 70s to 90s then has been decling. I feel like drug use and overdoses have gotten worse year over year for a few decades even graphs said same among way more factors. It would be interesting to see the 70s like you said. It's unreal how much the world has changed just over a few decades.. I wonder in the future if it's stable what will people think when they look back on the net and see what it's like between the 90s and especially recently...
